I wasn’t really impressed by any of the food that I ate here. The wait time was pretty long as well. I would recommend going around the corner to bombay… that’s what I’m gonna do next time. Food Service

Accidental order with grub hub a delivery service. $ 15 meal plus $ 6 delivery fee and $ 2 tip. Not worth the money and I could have eat in practically anywhere for $ 15. This meal was a loss. Won’t be returning either.

Does this look like a $ 35 dinner. Decent speed, tastes ok but naan was soggy, they forgot drink and no utensils or napkins were in the bag.

This review is for lunch buffet. It was just alright compared to other Indian buffets. Lack of spices. Naan was good though.

Oh I love my new home of Honolulu but why no Indian lunch buffet? How I’ve missed this place that looks EXACTLY the same as five years ago. Which is comforting bc why mess with it if it ain’t broke? Same dark green interior and same way of rolling up napkins and putting into cups so looks like candelabra. So they have this fresh crunchy cabbage salad which perfectly complements the spicy flavorful food. Tons of condiments like onions and pickles and tamarind and mint chutney and raita. This time had butter chicken, tofu mutter, saag paneer, chicken biryhani, other delicious stuff. The best hot fresh naan serves right to the table. It’s really all so very yummy! Sigh it was so good and only 12 bucks for lunch! I guess maybe good for my waistline that I can’t eat it once a week like I’d want to. They do a great job. Really like this place so very much.

Your typical Indian lunch buffet. Good naan, basmati rice, and tandoori chicken. All their other sides were good too. They have patio seating which was nice. Good service and reasonable pricing.

Hell yeah. Finally an Indian restaurant that gets it. Big portions for reasonable prices. I didn’t feel like I was starving after my meal. They accommodated my vegan needs and even double checked on a few ingredients. They were incredibly sweet and attentive and treated you like you were the only customer there. The food was absolutely delicious and even surprised my husband(he hates curries). The restaurant atmosphere interesting. It was a little outdated, but it also felt classy? You could tell it was trying to have a fine dining type of vibe. They had waiters that actually waited. I loved it! I would recommend the Chana masala and the vegetarian okra dish. I was stoked by the amount of flavor and how much they gave you. An absolute must if you love Indian food, want to try Indian food or you’re in Hillcrest and wanting to try a new ethnic experience. Parking can be an issue. The lot itself is terribly small. It’s Hillcrest though, so you can’t really expect it to be any better.

I can only comment on the lunch buffet and it is phenomenal! What a great selection @ a reasonable price! I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Excellent food taste, I eat light and their food isn’t salty at all. Great service too, I will definitely come back. Recommend!

Best Indian food in San Diego, hands down! I always go in and ask what they suggest I order. Never disappointed!

My mom was craving an Indian buffet on a trip to San Diego, so the two of us decided to check this place out. It is located in an area with a bunch of shops around a mall parking lot, which makes finding parking difficult. The buffet is a little small, but all the main components are there: tandoori chicken, samosas, butter chicken, biryani, dal, and desserts. As for the flavor, I would have to say that most of the food fell flat. Still good food, but could have used a kick of more flavor. The rating on the food alone would be a three star based on what I tried. The reason I give this place the extra star, is due to the excellent service. The staff was always on top of gathering our used plates and refilling our water. They were very attentive and I really appreciated that. They also kept the food fresh and hot, which is difficult with a small buffet and low turnover. If I visit again, I think I’ll pass on the buffet and order my food so that I can request spicier options. All in all, a good find.

Fantastic! Absolutely loved it, the food was amazing, and the service was excellent. The murg korma was perfectly flavored, and the veg in the sabji masala was crisp and juicy.

What a great experience. We were all quickly seated. I want to commend everyone who works their. The service was amazing. Everything was fresh, warm, and very tasty. I am am huge fan of indian food and this place is now one of my favorites. I ordered mango lassi-it was amazing. I also had a garbanzo dish(I don’t know what it’s called), but it was perfect. Thank you for the superior service.

Ordered delivery and it arrived within about a half hour — probably the fastest I’ve ever had food delivered. They also don’t charge a delivery fee if you spend at least $ 15. I had the spicy mango chicken which comes with basmati rice. I also ordered samosas and plain naan. Everything was delicious and they carefully wrapped the sauces so they didn’t spill out as soon as you opened them. The leftovers were even better the next day. Easily two or three meals for me due to the portion size.

This is our first time to this place in SD. We went with a friend on Christmas Day during our travels and were very surprised to find a long wait. The restaurant gave the vibe of being disorganized. We were told that the wait would be at least 30 – 40 mins but were pleasantly surprised to be seated in less than 10 mins. Different servers came to our table to take different orders and each didn’t know what was previously ordered so this enhanced the feeling of confusion. But the food came out on time and all correct so somehow they made it work. Now for the food. Pros: the chicken makhani was delicious. Just the right amount of spice and generally well made. The lamb biryani was my favorite of all the dishes and I’m not easy to please when it comes to biryanj. The baegen Bharta got mixed reviews. I liked it al right but some others didn’t. The navratan korma was quite good. The chicken 65 although different from traditional was rather good. Cons: the Nan’s were rather doughy and disappointing. The samosas were eh, and the paneer pakora was not crisp. I have a feeling that because of the unexpected rush the kitchen wasn’t able to handle these things too well. Overall it’s probably closer to a 3.5 rather than 4 stars, but still a good experience.

India Palace is definitely above average for San Diego Indian food. The few times we’ve had it, both spicy and medium have been good spice levels. The food wasn’t as interesting at mild, but it still has a lot of flavor. Lamb Karachi, Fish Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer(particular standout vs the norm) are all good. Downsides: too much rich with each dish, prices are definitely pretty high.

I ordered from using the Eat 24 app. The food came really which I pleased about but the food itself was okay, nothing special. I can think 3 to 4 places thats cheaper and taste better. The naan bread was a little burnt and the chicken was dry.

The place is in a strip mall, but don’t let that for you. The lunch buffet was pretty good, and that’s coming from a guy who avoids Indian buffets. You know you hit the right spot when you walk in, because the entry area is adorned with dozens of «Best Of» plaques.
