Great service and terrific food. Mozzarella cheese is amazing and authentic and the food is overall very fresh and prepared very well. Dessert is also homemade and absolutely delicious. 5 out of 5 will definitely eat here again.

I’m literally typing a review as soon as I received my food because that’s how pleased I am with it. I ordered delivery through Eat 24(free delivery with $ 18 purchase!) and it took exactly 30 minutes for the food to be prepared and delivered straight to my door. The delivery was so quick that I almost dropped pasta because of how pipping hot it was. The guy making the delivery was incredibly sweet and he was the first delivery guy to actually find his way to my door and not have me to walk up a darn hill to get my food. And I order A LOT of delivery. I ordered the 2 pasta special for $ 13.99, which comes with 2 side salads and 4 pieces of garlic bread and the gryos with fries. The beef ravioli is delicious as is the fettucini alfredo. They give you a HUGE portion of the salad but I haven’t dug in to that yet. The garlic bread is a little bland and not garlic-y enough. I stole a bite of gyro from my friend and it was very good. The fries definitely needs seasoning but it was still hot + crispy and I have all the seasoning that we need available.

Not sure why the review is 4.5 stars. House of Bites is a traditional sandwich place. For a top-notch sandwich place, such as Rubicon Deli or Carnitas Snack Shack in my opinion, I would be expecting some more than just fresh ingredients(bread, meat, plus veggies). A bomb ass sandwich needs innovative and creative recipes, including some mysterious mouthwatering sauce because that is very important! So back to House of Bites GOOD: fresh ingredients BAD: lacks creativity, tranditional so won’t surprise you Baklava is pretty good by the way

You could call this place«House of Horrors» or you could call this review an obituary. House of Bites has perfected the business model for failure and is living on borrowed time. How so? Consider the menu — pizza, Greek or mediterranean. Which is it? I didn’t like the idea of going into a Greek place to eat pizza, but it was the gyro that I was looking for and the place looked promising from the Unilocal reviews. After closely reading the 5 star reviews, the number of reviews by the writer — I can’t assign a lot of credibility to the reviews — especially after my experience. Consider the food — the meat in my gyro was over salted. I thought, «Oh, I just got a piece that has too much salt on it…» Then I ate more, but it was all over salted. I concluded, «Oh, he screwed up seasoning the meat and rather than start over he decided to pretend that it was normal to eat over salted food and serve it to the customers.» I told the waitress it was over salted. She said, «I’ll tell him.» Interesting way to convey that thought — as opposed to «I’ll tell chef». Who is «him»? We know. It’s the guy back in the kitchen making all the bone head decisions. Consider the food — we had the baklava after our meal. It was dry and hard as if it were setting in the refrigerator for a long time. I suppose the cook’s thought process was: «I’m not make’n anymore of that stuff until the stuff from last week is all sold!» Consider the food — some people think the humus here is fantastic — I think tasteless is more accurate. How can you make bad humus? Don’t taste it before it is sent out. Consider the ambiance — the TV was blaring a soap opera that no one was watching. I kept looking at the patrons and wondering, «Who is watching this crap?» I figured it out by watching the waitress. She was listening to it as she traversed the restaurant and would occasionally look up to see the expression on Bob’s face when he suggested Franchesca stop by his place in the evening… but Francesca was having none of it because Bob is a creep. Consider the service — Sofie paid while I washed my hands in the restroom. She noticed that they tacked on 30% gratuity automatically using their super cool cash register. She studied the bill carefully and said, «What’s this 30%?» Him said, «We calculate the tip in for you so you don’t have to.» «30%?!», says Sofie. Him says, «Most people pay 30%». Well, for that 30% sleight of hand by Him — I have deduced the House of Bites is an appropriate name — only in this case, the«bites» is not a noun but a verb. Why two stars? Well, the rice was quite good — and I believe Him does have the ability to deliver good food — but he’s more interested in short-term profits from unsuspecting rubes.

Came here while on a staycation with my husband and it was amazing. The pizza is so delicious it will make you want to cry from how good it is. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and my husband got the philly cheese steak pizza, both were amazing. For dessert we got the baklava and we dreamt about it for days to come afterwards! The food was just spectacular. This is a family owned business and the owner’s and their sons are so delightful. They make it a point to welcome you to the restaurant and make sure that you are happy and your food is exactly how you would like it to be. The service is amazing. I would drive up from Los Angeles to have this food any day, and will probably be doing that pretty soon.

Amazing food! Tried the Philly cheese steak sandwich and the gyro, both were fresh, hot, and tasty. Friendly customer service and clean ambience add to the experience. Partial halal menu too.

Some friends needed to carb load for a race and I wanted pizza, so this seemed like a reasonable place to settle both of our needs. This review is mostly for the pizza since that was my main meal. PIZZA: I got half BBQ chicken and half of The Works. The flavors of both were well balanced and there was a good amount of toppings for the price. I could see some of the mediterranean/greek inspired flavors that made its way into the pizza. It was pretty enjoyable for the most part. However, the crust would not hold up and it was difficult to eat. I had to use a fork to assist it from dropping down. I was surprised because the crust wasn’t thin nor very thick. I tried some of my friend’s lasagna and there was nothing that stood out. It definitely looked like it was homemade but my friend said stouffers was better which I can see. She did like the bread though. They also don’t serve any beer, so just come here for a bite or takeout. I also saw a table order their«Giant» pizza and it took up an entire table. That’d probably be cool for a big party.

I have walked past this place a few times, and each occasion I think it would be a good spot for late night food after a few drinks. and to be fair, that is probably true. But on a whim, I stopped in here for a workday lunch after a haircut next door(yes, Barney is sober at work), and the food was pretty stellar. the subs are solid, the pizza pretty tasty — and the service was downright friendly. this stretch of miramar is odd beyond belief when it comes to food options. this place sticks out as a good option, even when not compared to the rest of the crop

«House of Bites» could easily be the title of a horror movie, which is fitting, not because the thus named restaurant is horrific, but because it’s a rather odd beast. Pizza AND Mediterranean? Strangely, they stop just short of doing some interesting fusion like maybe a schawarma pizza. Nonetheless, based on my one visit, they do at least one of the two cuisines fairly well. I ordered the steak in a wrap(as opposed to on a pizza), and while it wasn’t necessarily the best I’ve ever had – there’s a fantastic joint in Hong Kong of all places – this particular Bite was easily among the best of its kind in San Diego. The real highlight of the evening, however, came in the form of the excellent complimentary chocolate baklava provided by the owner.(I wonder if the owner could check on Unilocal whether any Unilocalers were checked in?) I’m looking forward to going back to trying the pizza, the other half of their business. Summary: Multiple bites for multiple visits.

To be honest, I didn’t have the greatest expectations of this place. Another Mediterranean/Italian on Miramar? Do we really need another one? Well, apparently we do! My date and I went about a week after their grand opening. The folks here are friendly and emphasized that everything they make is fresh! I went with the beef shawerma plate, which came with rice and a salad. The salad came out first. It was HUGE! This side salad could have been a meal in itself. My dish took a little longer than anticipated, but it was worth the wait. The shawerma came out piping hot and full of flavor. I was surprised to see hummus on the plate.(It wasn’t advertised as being part of the menu.) It was delicious, but I sorta wish there were a few pieces of pita bread to eat it with. To end the night, we were also treated to a couple of pieces of baklava on the house. The guy beamed with smile and explained that his mama made it fresh that day. It was certainly delish! Someday my date and I will be back next time to try the pizza and/or wings!

Five stars to Steff(the cashier) and for their chocolate baklava. We recently visited for lunch and had a nice meal here at House of Bites. I hadn’t heard of them before so I was surprised to find them next to Supernatural Sea to Sandwich. Parking was spacious that weekday after 1p. We ordered: PARMESANCHICKENWINGS I believe it’s 6 wings for $ 4.99 or so. The wings take about 15+ minutes to fry up so order accordingly. The parmesan dust added a nice(light) salty pungent taste to the wings. I thought the wings were fried a bit too long as the meat tasted a bit dry. The skin though tasted nicely crispy. TURKEYCLUBSANDWICH $ 7.75 This was a nice sized sandwich that came on a toasted sesame roll. Steff said that all their sandwiches come out warm and toasted. There was definitely LOTS of crunchy salty bacon in this club sandwich. The lettuce and tomatoes tasted fresh. I asked for more mayo and unfortunately Steff could only offer me their packet mayos. The packet mayo here is too sweet so I didn’t use them much. The point of this is that I read on a Unilocal review where someone complained about too much mayo in his/her sandwich. So perhaps that’s why this sandwich had less. Eating a sandwich is so personal isn’t it. We like what we like when it comes to sandwiches GYROSANDWICH I think friend enjoyed the sandwich. There was a side of tzatziki sauce on his plate for this order. The fries were fried nicely with some pieces being awesomely crispy on the ends. BAKLAVA $ 2.75 I had to treat for dessert here at House of Bites. I could only afford two desserts though since they were kinda small and each cost $ 2.75. This was a nice honey-sweet baklava. There was a nice ratio of pistachios and phyllo dough. CHOCOLATEBAKLAVA $ 2.75 But BEHOLD. One of the best baklavas I’ve had in a very long time. This semi-sweet baklava was crazy good. The bottom of the baklava had this beautiful, thick hardened layer of honey phyllo and I want to say I could taste a hint of rose water too. I had a nice lunch here at House of Bites. I read they serve fat calzones but didn’t see it on the menu. I’d come back to try out a few other items as well as order another chocolate baklava to put in my purse when I’m having a bad day and need a dessert hug. Parking wasn’t an issue that afternoon but we met around 1p so maybe the lunch rush had subsided. Regardless, House of Bites is a nice addition to Miramar and I hope they do well.

Seriously, have you guys eaten food before?! I found HoB on Unilocal with a whooole bunch of 5 star reviews, so I came here with my coworker/eating partner for lunch to give it a try. We got white+olive pizza, cheesy garlic bread, and spaghetti+ meatballs. When the food came out(bit long, they may be understaffed), it looked delicious. We gave it a try, and it was incredibly mediocre. Like, «oh. Now I’m sad,» mediocre. Bland food all around. Good amount of cheese I guess but that’s all it had goin for them. Side note, guy that works there is really beautiful. No homo, seriously amazing eyes. Is that why you all are giving this place five stars? FOCUSPEOPLE! Edit: Was messaged by someone asking if I reviewed the right place since«[they] have been closed for the last two days»(weekend?). Check the person’s account and they had a review of this place. Looks like someone who works here wrote a review, so I reported the review and Unilocal removed it. Careful with some of the reviews on here. Some might be fake.

I LOVE this place. The food quality is absolutey fantastic. The pizzas are thin crust and full of flavor. The owner is so passionate about his food and does a great job checking up on customers and refilling drinks. He even gave each couple dining in a sample of their tasty desserts. Their cannolis and baklava are perfection. My husband and I had a small white pizza and lasagna. Be advised, there is a 2 pasta special for $ 14 that includes salad and garlic bread. We weren’t informed of this upon ordering, but it is handy to know for the next time we dine here.(And there WILL definitely be a next time).

Wow! Stopped here after a few drinks at Ballast(2 min away). Perfect snack. My bf and I originally ordered a personal pepperoni-sausage pizza to share and saw someone get a calzone… They were more than accommodating when we wanted to change our order. The calzone was so cheesy and tasty! It had pepperoni and sausage and tons of cheese! Very tasty and homemade. We also had some baklava… Homemade baklava. It was delicious and had a light chocolate drizzle– delicious. Even better than the food was the hospitality of the young man working there, Alex. Super friendly and hospitable. He made our first time experience that much better! We will be back !

Everyone wants to be treated like El Jefe once in a while. If you want to survive on Miramar you need to give the blue collar workers a healthy serving of respect and hospitality. Those are the things the Nine-to-Fivers don’t get in the workplace. Enter House of Bites which is a newcomer to the Miramar area. When you walk in you will either small cigar smoke(from the next door) or the delicious smell of Pizza. The menu is a bit confusing and diverse. Seems to be half Italian, half Middle Eastern. Most people were ordering from the Italian side. — Torpedo Sandwich. From a taste profile this tasted like a «Poor Boy Sub». Bread, lettuce, tomato, bologna, and mayo. After scraping off the excess mayo, this was a good tasting sandwich particularly with the toasted sesame roll. House of Bites is a very service forward /friendly establishment. The food is better than most on the street so I can see this place growing roots with the lunch community. 3.5 for now.

Sum this place up in one word… DELICIOUS!!! If you’re not hungry, don’t go here. They make some of their meals in «to go» containers just for your convenience and the fact you will be hard pressed to finish it. Awesome selection, affordable, great service, and it goes on and on.

Excellent Service. Just paid almost $ 10 for 3 pieces of Baklava… Pricey but good. I’m a bit disappointed cause I’m a regular here now. Wished they would of gave me one for free like they usually do… These guys are hilarious. Very funny. Great atmosphere. Id was looking for a subway but saw they had subs. So I ordered the torpedo subs. Fresh veggies… Bread was nice n crispy and the deli meat was fresh n sub was well dressed… Everything fresh n ready… Price was a little pricy but worth it. Will try the pasta or Lasagna next… :)

My husband and I were craving wings and pizza. We love to try new things and we enjoy food. We ran into House of Bites through grub hub and Unilocal. We read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. We loved this place! It is near the airport but that doesn’t matter because once you begin to eat you forget where you are. It is a family owned restaurant and they are very friendly. The mother and father prepare everything fresh that morning and their children run the restaurant. We had the calzone with everything and thinking it would be small we ordered two. Neither of use could get through the first half because it was super filling! We also ordered wings and jalapeño poppers. The wings were fresh and crispy and they had meat on their bone unlike any other chain restaurant. The jalapeño poppers were made with ricotta cheese and it was different but delicious. The price for this meal was a great price for everything we ordered and the taste. They decorated the meal like a fancy restaurant but it felt very homey. We are definitely coming back!
