I agree with the review from ¹²⁄₂₀₁₀. I started taking class with coach Huang Qin a couple months ago & her husband, Willis. They are exceptional people (who just had their first baby girl!), love martial arts, teaching & have the ability to teach at any level thoroughly & with patience & care. They push you when they know you can handle it (even if you don’t) & they pull back when they see something may be off with you.
Example: I saw coach Qin pull one of her very young students (7 years old?) aside when she had the inclination that he was off balance. She spoke with him very briefly & he began to cry, quietly. She urged him to take a break & walked him out of the studio. It was a beautifully handled moment that only a teacher with awareness & compassion could cultivate.
Anyone who’s interested in martial arts would benefit from this studio. Coach Huang Qin is the real deal, having grown up in China, studied her entire life, got a degree in wushu & is a champion competitor. If you want to learn lefit wushu this is the ONLY place in San Diego you can get it. Trust me, I’ve looked.
