I went with my parents and it was the worst ever… DEFINITELYNOTHONEYPIGINLA. DON’T BEMISLED! They served us ROTTEN side dishes. Of course my mom pointed it out and they denied it, and we were like wtf… so my mom showed them again and saw how DISGUSTINGLY rotten it was, took it back and apologized and gave us a soju bottle on the house. But who serves food that’s gone bad??? Food was okay, but will never go back there again. I DONOTRECOMMEND.

They have $ 5.99 tofu soups(seafood, beef, pork or kimchi) and some specials like the one I had, broiled fish(don’t know what it was though, hah!) with Korean miso soup and rice for $ 7.99. Service was prompt, felt a bit rushed at times — not really super attentive as the place continued to fill up, which was a good sign nevertheless. One thing I noticed, though, was how salty the dishes were. Everything from my fish to the soup to the banchan was a little too salty for my taste. At least check out the cute art on the wall on the way to the bathroom. Oh, and parking can be a b! tch, too. This place shares the lot with Tajima, Soju Town and Café Venti. So ante up on your parking patience when going here!

Great price and service. The meats are delicious. The chadol baegi has no fat and the panchan side dishes are very fresh and very good too. My favorite Korean BBQ in San Diego

I came here by accident and want to turn back time. My friends and I were driving down Convoy and randomly picking a Korean BBQ spot since there’s so many to choose from. I told my friend to Unilocal search a good place and she said«Honey Pig has 4 stars, wanna go there?» I said, «Sure I don’t know what other places are good anyways. But how many reviews is that average based off of?» Before she could answer my question she had already closed and exited her Unilocal app. When we arrived, we ordered two plates of meat priced at approximately $ 17.99 each. When the dishes came out, they were sparsely portioned. It was obvious this place was a rip off and we looked around and there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night. The appetizers sucked, nothing special and they didn’t even have pickled, kim-chi cucumbers!(my fave) After leaving, feeling ripped off, unsatisfied, and still a bit hungry, we pulled up the review on my friends Unilocal app on her phone agan. The rating average of 4 stars was based off of only 8 reviews!!! Let me help with the accuracy of this place’s rating because it is far misrepresented. Don’t expect to fill up here without breaking the bank because it’s not a hearty deal nor meal!

I didn’t really much of this place but Tajima seemed really crowded so I gave it a dry. Too my surprise it wasn’t that bad for a korean bbq joint. Service was nice and if your a non-korean or good at negotiating you can get a couple of free samples of meat. Just ask the server what each kind of meat is on the menu. I like this place because you can order one serving of meat and cook it at your table, other places don’t allow you to cook it yourself unless you order at least 2 servings. I had the pork belly and kalbi, which were both pretty good. Also, the prices aren’t too high, I think the total came out to be ~30 for 2 ppl including tip. We also shared a large korean beer called hite. not a lot of hoppy flavor but still refreshing.

I came here with my family to eat some Korean bbq. The place is a bit small compared to other Korean bbq places in convoy. However, the meat was very fresh. Good quality. We tried different stuff like the jowls, chadolbegi, etc. The meat was very tender. The banchan was also delicious. I love the salad they serve their and the ddukbossam(the rice cake wraps you eat with your meat). The price was reasonable. Cheaper than Buga and Daejanggum. And the meat was delicious!

Any reasonably priced Korean BBQ establishment where I can grill my own meat deserves automatic stars. When everything is hastily and prematurely thrown on the grill(so that near the end of the meal the meat is either cold or dry and overcooked), that’s when things start to go bad. I’ve been to quite a number of Korean BBQ restaurants(And one Best of the Best Quality? Chicken restaurant), and several Korean BBQ joints in the LA area. Unfortunately, my recent experience here didn’t quite measure up. Compared to San Diego restaurants like Dae Jang Keum, Honey pig is pretty reasonably priced, and each dish is, on average, about five dollars cheaper. At $ 10 a bottle, soju is a little less expensive than at buga or DJK too. Service is quick when not busy, and food arrives promptly. They serve a number of my favorite sides here, including cold tofu, fish cakes, and moo. My girlfriend and I ended up ordering both marinated beef plates and one bibim naengmyeon, a Korean cold noodle dish that I love. This, a little rice, and most of the sides, were more than enough to leave the two of us both full. The biggest problem that I had, as said before, was that the meat was grilled prematurely. Within minutes of the first plate being put on, the waiter comes by and hastily throws the rest of the food on the grill before we could say anything. I kind of have a problem when they do things like this. I mean, isn’t the point of grill-your-own-meat that you grill your own meat? I like eating BBQ hot off the grill, but I also like it cooked right. At least at other places they kind of pay attention to you, I felt like the guy just did it so he could forget about us until the check came. Also, many of the tables do not have built in grills as shown in the photo. Our table used a portable grill and came without a vacuum hood. Aside from the overcooked and cold pieces, the meat was pretty good. The marinade wasn’t too sweet or garlicky. The naengmyeon was nice, saucy and cold, although it could have used more cucumber. The sides were good, although the salad that came with the meal had a lot of that sesame leaf stuff that I’m not really a fan of. Overall, I’m going to refrain from calling it bad, partially because it doesn’t have that much competition down here. But against that competition, I can’t with confidence say Honey Pig goes above and beyond. Recommended if you like the idea of grilling your own meat but don’t actually like grilling your own meat.

First thing I noticed: The tables are old and disgusting(and faded teal color) which for me is damn unappetizing. But The quality of meat is very good, most likely because it is not an all you can eat joint. we had dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday and we were the only ones there which was nice because it was dead quite. If you want a civilized dinner with your friends come hear. If you want a wilder Korean drinking scene you may want to look else where.

Ah yes, the Korean enclave of Kearny Mesa. Apparently, this is the ‘hood to go to when craving any form of oriental fare. This place certainly didn’t disappoint. I went with people who have eaten in Korea and people who also happened to be Koreans. So they clearly know where to go when they want fried pork shoulder butt. That’s right, I said it. Fried. Pork. Shoulder butt. Whatever it is, it’s AWESOME as are all the tasty treats it comes with(fish, turnips, rice, etc.). Also, the Soji was constantly flowing, which made for some happy college students. All in all, a great place for groups and a fun venture outside the hip part of San Diego.

Visited the other night at the suggestion of a friend. When my friend and I arrived, we were under then impression there would only be four of us, but after a phone call, we were suddenly a party of ten. The place was semi-busy but the manager was very nice about it and put us at a large table. I’m a novice at Korean BBQ and I’m pretty sure they could smell my noobness so one of the staffers parked themselves at my end of the table and cooked all the meat for me and my fellow white friends. I’m not even sure what we ordered, we had some more seasoned BBQers at the table and they took care of everything. I have to say I was a little unsure when they brought out little bowls of puzzling items(kim chee, fish cake… and what do you expect me to do with radish slices??) but they explained everything and… oh goodness. There’s nothing like good meat fried right in front of you. They kept the beer and liquor flowing all night and though I didn’t have any of it, my friends were quite satisfied. My only complaint is I came home seriously reeking of cooked meat. My hair smelled like bacon. I didn’t even know that was possible.

Great place, not all you can eat, so the meat quality is better. Half pound for 9.99 So it will be about 20 dollars for 2 people. Service was great, and the soju is cheaper then other places, only 7.99. Opened not too long ago, this place used to be arirang bbq but they closed down. Go try it out.
