Unilocalers, if there’s one takeaway from my review, get the choripan. Unfortunately, I felt like I was on the loser stick with the beef empanada. While the beef empanada had decent flavor, the crust was dry and a little too crunchy for my liking. I attribute the dryness of the empanada due to it getting reheated in the oven prior to serving. Now, my date’s choripan was a real masterpiece! I loved the toasted bun and the chimichurri sauce was amazing. Just get it and don’t waste your calories in the empanadas!

This place is a hidden gem. The owner is a sweetheart and her food is fantastic! You must try the Choripan. One of my go-to places in PB.

This PB hole in the wall is just a step above a food cart. We ordered our food at a table just outside outside the door and then sat at the single table also located outside. Like pretty much every other review has noted, the choripan(sausage plus chimichurri in a bun) is fantastic. The salty-sweet of the chimichurri just goes so well with the savory of the sausage, and the four stars primarily reflect this item. I can’t as enthusiastically recommend the beef empanada. Not that the flavor was lacking, but it was kind of really greasy. Multiple napkins were required. Summary: Hola choripan.

After a luxurious afternoon playing(kids and husband) and napping(me) on PB we stopped here to pick up dinner for our family of five. Such a treasure! Patricia told me all about her childhood in Argentina while she packaged our order of empenadas and tarta. The empenadas were as good as those we’ve had in Buenos Aires. The alfajores are a must– calling them caramel filled shortbread cookie sandwiches doesn’t do them justice but that’s basically what they are. A wonderful find to have freshly made empenadas without the long flight.

This place is a hole-in-wall kitchen with no real seating. You walk up to the door and make your order and wait outside. There are a total of 2 tables and 3 chairs. I was walking by and ate alone so this was okay. I’ve only had the Choripan and it was pretty tasty. The chimmichurri is one of the best I’ve had. The bread was just too big to eat. Since it was nice and toasted, it had a nice crunch but I couldn’t get my mouth around it. I ripped off half the bread and enjoyed the meal! Empanadas looked great. Will try that next time I’m walking by. I don’t think I would bring my friends here because of the seating situation, but would definitely buy it again if already pedestrianing Garnet.

The Choripan was easily a 5.5 star. Amazing taste. Excellent chimichurri. Excellent service! We will be back for sure! The only downside is there is limited seating. Which is the only reason I rated it 4 star. This is an amazing hole in the wall!!!

I really really really wanted to like this place. I drove from quite far. The staff is very nice but this is about the food and it just didn’t impress. Prices are on point because you pay for what you get. Tried the choripan and it was dry! Nothing spectacular about it, something I could have made better at home. Chimichurri sauce was ok, I make it better at home. Save time and money and Google Argentinian Chimichurri Make it yourself, buy yourself some Italian sausage cooked(which is what they serve) and toast some bread and VOILA!

this was an adorable hole in the wall near all the bars. i just went there today with a couple other people from UCSD bc we were craving Argentinian food and we got more than just great food, we got amazing company. Patricia(the lady who runs the place) was so friendly and genuinely curious(but not overly inquisitive/intrusive) about how we were doing. She was so friendly and offered great service. We order the choripan(i believe it was ~$ 7), which was delicious, from the toasted bun to the on-point chimichurri. All in all, my friends and i had a great experience and would recommend this place!

Love this place. The food is good. Being next to the bars I have been here quite a few times for the tj dog. I mean who doesn’t love a bacon wrapped hotdog? 5 stars for the lady who runs this place. So sweet and funny. Love her

Yup, the Choripan is delicious. I’m a sucker for anything in a perfectly toasted bun(!), but the sausage and chimichurri sauce it came with was pretty good as well. –The owner/cook is super sweet. –It’s just a kitchen — you can’t go inside, just order from the outside and sit at one of two tables on the sidewalk. –Skip the gyro(not because it’s bad, but because you can get similar gyros elsewhere… and you should really be ordering the choripan). –Canned/bottled beverages available.

Whenever the bestie and I go get our haircuts together in PB we usually always try to go and grab a bite to eat at a new spot and so this time I chose and thank you to Unilocal for helping me find Hola Che! There really isn’t very many Argentinian restaurants in San Diego so this is a treat! I really thought that Hola Che would be a sit in restaurant! Ha. Shame on me for not really researching it or anything. I mean whatever… I literally just Unilocaled restaurants in PB saw this Argentinian spot with 4 stars and figured why not? As we were walking on Garnet I said oh! This is it? Like literally a case displaying items from their menu, 3 tables outside and this cute little lady standing outside greeting everyone. She was so friendly and explained to us the items on her menu. The menu is quite simple so I decided to order the choripan with chimichurri. I could watch our choripan being made from where I was sitting. So fresh! The baguette she toasted was so crispy and the chorizo was delicious! Snappy and with so much flavor from the chimichurri!!! It was about $ 7 for the choripan which is a pretty good deal since I feel like the portion size was decent and you can watch her make it with love! I would love to take the husband here to try their choripan and I’d come back to try other items on the menu.

Perfect spot for people watching in PB. Service was lovely. There are only a couple tables out front and inside is not open to the public. We ordered the chicken gyro, beef empanadas, and the choripan with chimichurri. The empanadas were luck warm and barely filled: we had to pay extra for sauce to dip them in. The chicken gyro was bad — just tasteless and boring and utterly lacking substance. The choripan was good. The bread was crunchy and the sandwich itself flavorful. We probably won’t go back — it just wasn’t worth it at $ 30 for two sandwiches and empanadas.

Legit and authentic Argentinian joint I love Argentina; from its music, to its movies, to its accent, and so much more. I can speak Spanish but I wish I had an Argentinian accent(it’s my favorite Spanish accent… ever) The owner and cook, Patricia, is Argentinian and is from Cordoba, Argentina. She’s a very sweet woman. You’ll feel like you’re invited to an Argentinian home just talking to her. This joint mostly specializes in Argentinian street food. Argentina is a meat lovers paradise; it’s famous worldwide for its steak. But if you’re a vegetarian, then this joint does have vegetarian options available. Now, I ordered the choripan with chimichurri and a yerba mate tea. Choripan is basically an Argentinian equivalent to a hot dog. Chimichurri is a sauce used for grilled meat. This sauce is magic and it makes any meat taste like heaven. Now regarding the Choripan with chimichurri here, I have one word to describe it… WOW. Really good stuff. The meat was amazing; so juicy and flavorful. The chimichurri sauce was an amazing compliment as always. You should definitely try this one. You will not regret it. Now, yerba mate is an acquired taste for some. It’s very bitter. But the majority of Argentinians drink this. If you’re Argentinian and you don’t drink yerba mate, then most Argentinians don’t consider you Argentinian at all. That’s how big of a deal yerba mate is to Argentinians. Unfortunately, the yerba mate didn’t come in a gourd with a metal straw like it does in Argentina but hey, at least I drank Yerba mate to show how much I love Argentina and Argentinians. So, if you’ve never had Argentinian food before, then what are you waiting for? Come here now! P. S. Argentinian restaurants tend to be expensive but this one here is unique for not being pricey P.P.S Sorry for the typing the word«Argentinian» so many times in this review: p

My fiancé and I were walking around PB when we stumbled upon this place. We were definitely drawn to the street vendor appeal of Hola Che and the smell was too enticing to simply walk by. Overall 1. Excellent customer service — The owner is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic about her food. If you have any inquiries, don’t be afraid to ask! I wasn’t too familiar with Argentinian food and she was very sweet to explain. She also prepares and makes your food as soon as you place the order so if there is a wait, it is definitely worth it! 2. CHORIPAN — This is basically a sandwich that includes: a flavorful and juicy sausage, lettuce and tomatoes, a generous portion of chimichurri, and a perfectly toasted bun. So simple, yet it’s everything you need. 3. Amazing hours: Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat 2:30pm-2:30am.(yes…AM! Just the type of food you’d want after a night of bar hopping) Wed & Sunday 2:30 — 9:30pm. Only con: very limited seating. But it’s not a big deal when you’re eating such a memorable meal!

There are not many Argentine eateries in town, so when one pops up such as this place, well I must visit. The place is very small with not inside seating and only a few tables outside, but do not let that discourage you, because the Argentine lady who owns and runs the place, is one fine cook, and not to mention quite a personable person. I had to order her signature Argentine sandwich; the Choripán, a street food, with Chimichurri served on a warm roll. The Choripán comes with a fantastic Argentine sausage, traditional chimichurri, and with lettuce and tomatoes. The sausage was very well made in that it provided a great balance between meat and fat, which resulted in a great texture of the sausage. The sausage had that nice skin that burst when you bit into it, followed by the onslaught of the full flavor of the pork sausage and juiciness and added flavor of the pork fat. I really like that the sausage was not over done and was kept very moist and juicy. The chimichurri was very well made and heavy on the fresh garlic, not that I am complaining, and an abundance of fresh parsley and cilantro with a hint of cumin, crushed red peppers, and lots of great olive oil. I liked it, and I liked the crusty roll the sandwich came on. The bread, probably could of been a little larger, to better hold the huge sausage inside, but it came nicely toasted and provided great flavor to the sandwich. I really like what this little place has to offer so far. Next, I hope to try some of the savory empanadas and perhaps some of the chicken offerings. I hope too, that they expand their business someday, in order to provide comfortable seating for customers.

Owner is really nice so I feel a little bad with this review Food: choripan chimichuri hotdog $ 7. Im not that picky with hotdogs but I did not like this one. The sausage was pink and mushy in the middle;‘undercooked and I did not realize it until halfway through. Bread was burnt. I would not crave for this again.

This place is amazing! They offer great Argentinian style street food. The service is great. The food is made to order and they use quality ingredients. This food stand’s offerings are popular in Argentina, but unique to the San Diego area. I’m always in search of something unique to the area and I found it at Hola Che. I had the Choripan w/Chimichurri. This sandwich/hot dog includes grilled Argentinian style sausage, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and house made chimichurri on a crusty baguette. This sandwich is packed with flavor. The garlicky, herbaceous chimichurri lends a great flavor to the sandwich. If you love garlic, you’ll definitely love this sandwich. Yum! I can’t wait to go back for this treat.

Mama mia. Hidden-gem alert! I’ve been looking for SD’s perfect hot dog for what seems like a decade now, and I think I may have found it. The #1 food crime pattern the other places commit is overdoing it: Dressing her up with too many fancy toppings whilst neglecting dog and bun quality. No bueno! We’re not paintin’ the Mona Lisa here, big’n’bad. I’m a sucker for anything that’s meat-in-tube-form(did that sound right?) Especially when it’s street-style, so the review is only for the dogs. They’re all I want after a night of drinking w the boys, and we’d already chicken-winged ourselves sleepy at Bub’s… So you know Hola Che is good when you’re full and you STILL stop to eat there! Great juicy slow cooked quality beef/pork dog with a ‘snap’ to it – Check Perfectly lightly toasted Argentinian bun — Check Simple, fresh toppings(ketchup, mustard, onion) — Chickity-Check-Checkles Even in the late hazy hours of PB idiocracy, owner Patricia is on her Garnet storefront sidewalk graciously greeting customers, beaming with contagious loving sunshine. Now how can ya say no to that? I’ll be back, Mama.
