Leeland has a Groupon again so I’m updating my original post. Unless things have changed, don’t waste your money.

I usually have a really hard time trusting someone to do my blonde highlights and am sooo relieved that I was referred to Leeland and trusted him with it! He did a phenomenal job and the best part is he only took two hours. I usually go to a salon and expect to be there for 3 – 4 hours and dread that it will take up half of my day, but I was really impressed with his skills. My highlights look natural and I can’t wait to go back! Thanks Leeland

Leeland has been cutting my hair for six years. He is easy to get a hold of, always punctual and a blast to talk with while sitting in the chair.

I purchased a groupon for my cut with Leeland and was disappointed. I would not recommend you buy this groupon because he seemed generally disinterested in my appt because, I think, I purchased the groupon. I have never received such a quick cut — 10min for cut, and 20min for blow drying. I was expecting a deep conditioning and style, which is what the groupon stated, yet only received a mediocre cut with a flat iron.
I have read the other reviews so maybe he puts more effort into his regular customers appts, but I thought the point of groupon was to create a great new experience that develops new regular customers. I guess not in this case.

I bought a Groupon and all I can say its: this guy its amazing, he knows how to cut curly hair, my highlights are very natural, and he fixed until i liked even with a group on he spent more than 2 hrs with me, making sure everything was perfect.

We found Leeland through the Abbey Catering company and booked him because we got a deal with them that included catering and 5 vendors.
I had a trial with him that went relatively well, but within an hour of leaving the salon my hair was already falling down. I have really heavy, straight Asian hair so it takes a lot of bobby pins and hairspray to keep it up all night. However, my make up was amazing and it held up all night long. It was fortunate that I was able to do my trial the day that I was attending a wedding so I was able to see how the hair and make up would do throughout a full day and dancing!
After the trial I told Leeland what needed to be changed for the wedding.
Leeland and his partner came to the Westin San Diego the day of the wedding to do hair for 4 bridesmaids and hair and make up for me. They got everyone done in 2 ½ hours! Very impressive. My hair looked great (although he forgot the braid I wanted) and my make up made me look flawless! Everything was great until we started the dance party at the reception. My hair started coming down little by little. It got to the point where I just decided to take it down and put my hair up in a ponytail. It would have been nice to have my hair stay all night, but my new husband said he liked how I took my hair down.
Verdict? Make up was great, but I needed more security for my hair.

I came back to Leeland after trying to save a few bucks at other salons and being disappointed with inconsistent quality (at those cheaper salons). Now I’m sticking with him for good! I’m an older guy, thinning at the top as are many guys my age. Leeland’s cuts have always looked great, and somehow his magic touch makes my hair look less thinning. I used to blow-​dry my hair to make it look presentable. With Leeland’s expertise, I don’t need to fuss with my hair at all! Just towel dry a bit, add a dab of pomade, and I’m good to go. He also gives an awesome head/​scalp massage included with the hair wash which is definitely worth it.
Besides being an incredibly talented hairstylist, he’s a great, fun guy and easy to chat with. I highly recommend Leeland to keep you looking young and professional.

Leeland has been my hairstylist and miracle worker for many years. He’s warm, friendly, caring, and very talented. I love the fact that I can go to the salon with a vague idea of what I want done with my hair — or just a desire for a new look — and I can just say something like «you’re the expert; work your magic,» and he always gives me a great cut and style (and, I swear, somehow, a facelift at the same time).
From swingy long layers to a perky bob to a sassy, sexy pixie — I’ve never been disappointed with a cut/​style from Leeland. I’ve received so many compliments from my friends, colleagues, and clients: «young,» «fresh and fun,» «that’s YOUR haircut.» And in a text message from my husband of 18 years: «Just when I thought u couldn’t get any cuter & hotter…»
Leeland is a great teacher as well: I’m nowhere near being a beauty professional, so I appreciate how he answers my questions about products, styling techniques and other looks I can get with my haircuts — all in a way that I can understand. That’s a gift! Versatility and no-​fuss styling are a priority because my freelance work as an ESL coach/​tour guide, after-​school tutor, and proofreader/​copyeditor takes me to a variety of settings. I love how he is always able to give me a hairstyle that works not only with how I look, but also with what I do.
Not long after I started going to Leeland, I recommended — okay, insisted — that my husband get his hair cut and styled by him. No regrets: my husband always comes home with great haircuts, too! We are both very happy with Leeland and look forward to being his clients for many more years.
