Bad. Really bad. Their chicken teriyaki was dry and unflavorful. Their orange chicken was mostly fried breading and whatever meat I could find inside was all dark meat. Probably not even chicken. The mushroom chicken was just ok. The picture is all of the breading I had to peel off in order to get to the chicken. I can’t imagine how much fat that was. The old adage«you get what you pay for» is absolutely true. The lady couldn’t speak English and didn’t understand when I asked for a side of rice. Place inside is shady. One guy came in and asked for two cups and then argued with the cashier about paying for the cups.

This place in on one of the busiest corners in downtown San Diego. A bunch of people are in this corner are asking for money… even coming inside and asking me while I have food in my mouth. I only came here cause I needed to go to T-mobile across the street and I had like 25 minutes before it opened. I went in and the place was empty which wasn’t a surprise cause it was like 930am. They have the same selection of food every Chinese place has so it’s nothing special. I ordered a 2 item meal. I chose Chow Mein with fried rice which 2 dishes… for my 2 items I went with orange chicken and beef/whole hard-boiled eggs. With the included drink, it came out to around $ 7.25. Needless to say that it wasnt very good. Honestly, some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. The food was almost cold, the Orange chicken had a super thick layer of the Orange sauce, and the beef and eggs were super dry! I couldn’t finish it! The only redeeming quality was the lady was super nice and gave me a free refill on my tea(usually cost 60 cents). I can almost guarantee that this will be my last time eating here.

For quick Chinese, this is a great spot. Their teriyaki chicken is really tender and the orange chicken is amazing. It’s not restaurant quality, but if you’re looking for a local ‘panda express’ fix, or just casual Chinese take out this place is great.

My new favorite place! Defines city food. Wider selection than Panda Express, all prepared and ready to eat… more authentic as well. Nothing fancy about the venue(which is a great thing believe me) but the food DELIVERS like one fancy place.

Love the food here haven’t tried the fried chicken but that is next. Anyway been here twice and plan on coming back as often as possible. Yes I can say from the outward appearance it is a little off putting. Also stay clear from sitting near the door otherwise you will have two problems 1. The breeze makes the food cold fast 2. The homeless in the area come flocking asking for money for food constantly. The serving sizes here can easily feed 2 people. Not sure what people were saying about bland food but I have not had that problem.

***This location is open until 9pm*** They give you soooo much food and I’ve never gotten sick so it must be alright! Usually lasts me a couple meals and it’s not bad!

if you’re on the verge of starvation with little cash and you don’t want subway or 711, this might be your only option. a few provisions to keep in mind before you commit: 1. pick items that appear fresh 2. beware of the walking dead 3. sit by the window, away from the booths a soft malaise enveloped my soul as I consumed my meal in silence. portions were generous though, as a two item combo easily fed two.

The orange chicken was saved from the previous day and microwaved(and badly at that). The beef with broccoli had a mysterious sludge that I hope will either give me a quick death or superpowers I can use to fight injustice, like the«food» at this dump. And no matter how filthy you are, you will be the most normal person here. Go ahead and try it! Crap your pants, walk in and boom! Still cleaner than the rest of the freak show here.

You get what you pay for when you visit small shops like this one. Cheap prices, great portions, and very fast service. BBQ pork ribs are great, and so is the beef and egg(it looks like soup but has a great flavor to it) this place is easy to forget, the outside is unappealing, surrounded by homeless(like any other place in downtown, but security moves them along quickly). Food was hot and ready full of good flavors, good customer service. Three stars because of the unappealing and easily missed exterior.

I just love this place! I live a few streets away and this is the closest and most inexpensive asian food around! I ordered a 3 item combo and got the Spicy Chicken(was very juicy and spicy), Orange Chicken(surprisingly very sweet! I really liked it!) and a half order of rice and half order of noodles. Everything was super tasty and juicy! I’m eager to try some of their more fried options! I hear they’re really good!

This place is cheap as hell, the food looks gross and greasy, and the place is filled with homeless people at all times. None of these things deterred me from trying, I knew exactly what I was getting into. From the two bites I had(lo mein with sweet and sour pork and orange chicken) the food was just okay, gave me a stomach ache, exactly what i was expecting. The thing that grossed me out beyond belief and will prevent me from ever returning is the long black hair I found in my food. I threw it out immediately after this discovery. Its a lot of semi-okay food for a really good price, but whats the point if I have to throw it all out anyways? On a good note the cream cheese wontons were good and I found zero hairs in those so I didn’t go completely hungry.

Cheap, decent quantity, fast service, totally forgettable. I came for lunch here with a craving for quick Chinese food. Don’t think I’ll come back again if I can help it. Nothing really horrendous or offensive about the place, just so many better options in my opinion. I ordered a two item combo with lo mein noodles. I got the chicken chop suey and spicy chicken. The chop suey tasted very bland and the spicy chicken was a joke if they consider that even remotely spicy. Both chicken dishes were more about the large pieces of veggies rather than the chicken or taste. The noodles were decent, not too greasy but also tasted pretty plain. They give you a heaping serving of food, so I guess that’s good if you want to gorge. Panda Express does much better in terms of flavor, freshness, and ambiance. The place was fairly clean inside and the service was prompt and friendly. No major complaints there. Just looking at it from the outside, you can pretty much assume what you’re getting yourself into.

I doubt the food is that good there simply by the looks of it but every time I walk by the fried chicken smells so good. The food in the steam trays doesn’t look very palatable nor does the fried chicken for that matter but 2 thighs and $ 3.22 later I was pretty happy with my purchase.

Meh… too much food for $ 5. It’s cheap. .and not very good. but a lot of food. I keep eating lunch hear because their kung-pao chicken and mushroom chicken is mostly veggies. and I like veggies. I can only imagine the sodium content I’m consuming.

This place made awesome fried rice… twice fried and not soggy! They also had fried chicken that was juicy and full of flavor, Americanized Chinese food that looked fresh even though it was all on the steam table, price is cheap My parents used to own an Americanized Chinese restaurant, and I come here when I need a fix.

It is seriously questionable if this food is edible. Perhaps the fried chicken is «OK» but the«Chinese» food is GROSS.

I say this somewhat facetiously but I have always wanted to check this place out. I like Chinese food and I like fried chicken. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. Sometimes fried rice is not enough. Sometimes you need a piece of fried chicken to go with it. It was already past dinnertime and all of the Chinese food looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamps all day. We opted for fried chicken. How can you turn down 10 pieces of chicken for 7.99?! To do so would be un-American. The Great Wall employees were nice enough to make a fresh batch for us. It took about 15 minutes. The chicken was dripping with grease, very juicy. The batter was well-seasoned and crispy. The meat was a little bland, though. I’ve had better fried chicken but not for this kind of ambiance! A happy sidenote: depending on your mood, you can also order mashed potato, fries, french fry beef(no clue), and a single piece of fried fish! This place has everything.

This place isn’t as bad as others have made it sound. After all, it’s been in business this long and every time I pass by it, there are always people in it. Granted, they’re not all the fancy, business types in there… Theyre more like the homeless and need food types, but that didn’t deter me from checking it out. Plus, a Chinese food place offering up «Louisiana style chicken»? I had to check it out. I have to give my bf credit because it was his hungry stomach that made us go in for a try. I was still recovering from a bout of food poisoning the week prior so I did not eat very much. We got louisiana style fried chicken, chow mein, chicken stew thing, and chicken wings. The chicken wings were very crispy and cooked through well and served pretty hot for a buffet style service. The Louisiana style chicken definitely had a different seasoning to it than the chicken wings itself. The skin was crispy and was pretty good, comparable to kfc if not a bit better, dare I say. The chow mein was a egg yellow noodle, commonly found in Vietnamese owned and run Chinese style restaurants, if that makes any sense. The chicken stew is a traditional Vietnamese stew that even my momma makes(I’m Vietnamese). It was pretty good but not as good as Mom’s of course. The little ladies behind the counter are, in fact, Vietnamese, which explains why they make good Louisiana style fried chicken. There is a large population of Vietnamese people on LA, I would know, I was born there! Either way, don’t let the homeless people outside the door or the seemingly hollow poor reviews on here discourage you from trying this place out. I would say I’d go back when I’m in the area and I definitely do not question the cleanliness or quality of the meats. I think someone previously mentioned they thought it was«dog meat» being served?! Come on, if you were being served dog meat, you’d know it. It tastes more like a game meat than chicken!
