Sandwiched between tacky tourist shops, thrift stores and cheap clothing retailers, Golden Seashell is very easy to miss… but it really stands out as a unique and special shop that is a must visit when you’re in OB. I found it on Unilocal when i was looking for a jeweler who could change the batteries on multiple watches. I called around and this was the cheapest and had good Unilocal reviews so I gave it a shot since I knew I would be in the area. I’m glad I discovered Golden Seashell! Not only did the owner change my batteries at an excellent price(two batteries cost $ 8 and another $ 6 — whereas a Hillcrest shop quoted me $ 10.95 a piece and a North Park chain store would have been $ 8.95 each)…but the store is filled with treasures! There was a ton of unique jewelry with authentic stones and unique designs that I don’t usually see in department stores or online, and they were all really well priced. Also, there is a huge collection of ancient coins, including from the Roman, Byzantine, Greek and Spanish empires that are an absolutely sight to see. They also have the legit«OB» logo in pendants in sterling silver or gold. I would definitely come back to buy gifts or a beautiful necklace for myself!

Stumbled in on my stroll around the neighborhood just to see about getting a battery changed. Super nice and quick service. Took care of me in less than 5 minutes. Gave me a chance to look around and see all that they had. Cute vintage pieces well organized. Saw some pieces I liked and took mental notes to pass on for birthdays and such. Very nice and quiet shop with kind people.

Just needed a small part for my watch. Walked in and was warmly greeted and my watch was serviced right then and there. $ 5 and two minutes later I have a new watch… yay!

This is long overdue. I went to Scott at the Golden Seashell over a year ago to copy a simple design I found for my engagement ring. He was kind and very accommodating. He gave me his honest opinion about the setting for the aquamarine I wanted to be set, and when my fiancé proposed in November, it was even more beautiful than I had expected. Scott knows his stuff and is very talented! We are having our wedding rings made there as well — will be going to him with all of our jewelery needs!

I have a lot of expensive jewelry(diamond, ruby + emerald) I would not trust anyone but Scott and John working on bling. Thank you for many years of trustable service gentlemen

I was recommended to them by a vintage jewelry store nearby and was very pleased when they fixed my ring the day after they acquired the perfect size and color stones for it! They had cleaned it and it was absolutely beautiful. I also had them appraise a wedding set which they were able to clean for me while I waited. I would definitely recommend them and John and Scott gave excellent customer service.

Excellent service and great prices. He’ll work with you to make sure you get what you want and is honest about his skill level when he needs to outsource something to another jeweler. I’m skeptical about the experience reported by Magdalena R. because my experience with the owner is that he does quality work and genuinely likes his work. And I like that he calls me «M’Lady»!

Scott is a gentleman and scholar, and a man’s man. Ask about the chainmail and armor in the back. I am not kidding. What an upstanding pillar of the OB community.

This is the onIy place I go any time I need my jewelry fixed. I used to go to a fancier, more expensive place up the street but found not only the prices too high but the work took too long. I trust this jeweler implicitly with my hard-earned gems and have always been very happy and satisfied. A few years ago I bought a pair of lovely Amber earrings there and had them changed over to clip for my mother, who doesn’t have pierced ears.(She has always claimed that was something only«gypsies» do: P) He did a beautiful job at a reasonable price.

I really want to write a good review. I really like the guy there. But***I can not. We got a ring there to serve as a engagement ring for now. It was simple and beautiful. The first one turned my finger green. My brother in law returned it for me… and another was made. The second one was crooked in several spots so that it was uncomfortable. Within two days it was very tarnished looking. I understand it is silver and not white gold. But I expected more then that. Hundred bucks flushed. But then again what do you expect for a hundred dollar ring? I hope it was just a fluke with me because i really do like the service and the shop. Just unhappy with the product.

I came here to have my engagement ring re-sized and a prong fixed. The people who work at the Golden Seashell are SO nice and helpful. My fiancé and I even moved out to Lakeside and I make the 30-minute drive to OB to have any jewelry work done. I broke a prong on my ring and they had it fixed 2 days later for like $ 15. I just called them to see if I could have an engraving taken out of a tungsten band and he said it would be $ 15. They’re amazing. Go see them!!!

They did such a great job on my ring here(replaced a chipped diamond and re-sized it down a size)! I am very happy with the results. :) Exceptional work at a fair price!

I went here to get my ring sized and they said it would be done on Monday and it was done on thursday. The ring is perfect but the best part is that they are SO nice in there. It was very ‘OB’ which is a good thing since it gives that community feel. I’m glad I went there and I’ll be looking forward to going there to get our wedding rings.

I come here because my dad has been going here since i was a kid for misc. stuff, he grew up in point loma so i trust his knowledge. I got my ring resized here, it took a little less than a week but was only $ 12. Really friendly, genuinely concerned about doing it right and you dont get the feeling like theyre ripping you off, which happens all too often at some places.

This is a wonderful place to go if you need your jewelry cleaned, resized, or repaired. It’s also a wonderful place to find some ready-made jewelry and for custom-made items as well. The owner — Scott — is a very affable, kind and talented jeweler. I trust ALL my jewelry to this store! They also carry an interesting array of clocks, trinkets, loose gems, and sometimes ornaments and small statuary. Give this place a try — I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
