Their flavors are on point. My boyfriend and I are foodies who are big on service, food sourcing, and flavor. I can’t say enough about this place and whoever thinks the servings are too small, needs to evaluate themselves and put down their fork — chances are your eating your way into an early grave.

The fish and chips doesn’t live up to my hopes and their veggie tikka masala is abysmal(but I expect poor veggie options from food trucks as a rule). I’m not sure why I come back, there’s no reason to eat this for lunch when I can go to Shakespeare’s for dinner. Maybe they’re trying to embody the stereotype of British food being bland and unappealing, but as a brit I’m just very disappointed.

At this point, I have tried almost everything on the menu since they come to our area almost every week! Fresh Catch of the Day(Rockfish) — Rockfish is their best fish choice. I don’t know if it is a seasonal thing but for as long as I’ve gone to this food truck, 90% it is rockfish. I’m not complaining though, it is an excellent fish grilled perfectly on top of salad greens and pita. It is a must order if you have not tried it before. Fish and chips — Normally i order chips with my Fresh catch of the day however if I feel like changing it up a bit and better value, I like to order the Fish and Chips which includes the chips for the same price as the Catch. the Fish is a bit thick on the batter but don’t let it fool you, you still get LOTS of fish. The piece is quite large actually! I don’t know if the fish changes with the catch of the day or not. I should ask. They sometimes have the«taco» version of the order where you get the huge piece of fish wrapped in a thin tortilla. A bit difficult to eat if you’re trying to keep everything in the taco: P but still really good. Spiced lab — probably my second favorite order next to the Catch. When they say it is spiced, they actually mean spicy as well. It is full of flavor and with the spice mayo drizzled on top, it packs a kick! If you love both lamb and spicy food, this is a must get. the lamb is served on top of greens, cucumber riata and naan bread. Big Ben Burger — I find mixed reviews with this burger. While the burger doesn’t really impress me much, my coworkers love it. They say it is the mature cheddar that really makes it good. While I love cheese, I think I prefer my burgers to be more than just that. It is worth trying though. It is still a tasty burger. Butty — this is their nickname of a fish sandwich. They take what normally is the giant fried fish you get from the Fish and Chips and place it between two brioche buns, tartar sauce and coleslaw to make this impressive sandwich. It’s a different take on the Fish and Chips above but still quite good. The only problem is trying to keep the sandwich together because of the shape of the fried fish. Worth ordering. Chips — honestly, the main standout of this place is their chips. You’ll be hard pressed to find this style of fries anywhere else in San Diego. These are definitely what you need when you’re starving and delicious enough to crave. I recommend splashing on a bit more malt vinegar to give it extra kick. Overall, this food truck is excellent. I find that food trucks sometimes lack that special unique item that brings me back to them. This one isn’t one of them. They serve excellent food relatively consistently and remember to get their stamp card! The day I get a free Catch is definitely a good day!

I got to try this food truck over the weekend, and I’m sure glad I did. I went for their Butty sandwich, which is fried fish sandwiched between fresh bread, and relished with greens and tartar sauce, etc. It was delicious!!! One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I was closing my eyes the whole time I was eating it, just to savor each delicious morsel. And their fries are nice and fat and tasty. A lot of people ordered their fish and chips, and that looked great as well. My friend ordered their lamb sandwich. I didn’t get to try it, but I hear it was pretty spicy. His tummy couldn’t handle it. When in doubt, just go for one of their fish options because you can’t go wrong!

Trucks roll down the road diner food made delicious God Save the Cuisine. I must confess. I was a food truck virgin. The guys in the truck were really nice and helpful answering my newbie questions. The fish each day is dependent on what the catch of the day is. The day I visited the fish was flounder. The batter had good flavor and was nice and crunchy. The flounder was mild and had a good fresh flavor. The fries were much better than the standard fast food fry. Crunchy and with delicious potato flavor. Was cool finding a bench and eating outside. The big ben burger had a delicious toasted bun. It was soft on the inside and had a slight sweet flavor. The beef paddy had a delicious charred meat flavor similar to Burger Lounge. I’m not sure what type of lettuce they use but it was better than the cheap iceberg lettuce many places use. This food truck reminds me of the fair. Each summer I wait in line for my ride to the fair hoping I get to ride in the faded red British double decker bus. I love riding on the top level enjoying the view from above and the sea air as we near the ocean. Thanks P.J. for the awesome food truck experience!

Having married an English woman I have been traveling to England more in the past few years than I ever thought I would. This truck is a frequent staple at Thorn Street Brewery on the South Park /North Park border and I must say that I’m a fan. While, I had been expecting traditional British cuisine, it is abundantly clear that the guys that run this truck have opted to tailor the fare to the local San Diego audience. Which, honestly, is probably a good idea given the fact that I got Doritos and cheese when I ordered nachos in London. All that being said, I find(and I think more importantly the wife finds) the fish and chips to be extremely authentic. I was expecting a more British take on the chicken tikka but I’m glad I was upended. It was delicious. These guys know what you want more than you do. It’s like they were running a burrito truck in London. I love it. I love the specials and the burger is delicious. Don’t miss this truck when it comes to your favorite establishment. Or your office parking lot. Who cares where it is? Don’t miss it. That’s the point.

Just got the grass fed burger and it was AMAZING! The guys on the truck were super cool and down to earth. The food was beautifully prepared and everyone around me was commenting on the presentation. Had the chips, but not the fish, everything looked and smelled great and just like being in England(yesssss, I’ve been there). Also, they serve bottle Coca-Cola #justsayin Oh, and I noticed that they let you borrow blankets to have a picnic with their food. How amazing is that? Like, seriously? Amazing. Brilliant!

I was super-bummed out last week and was in dire need of comfort food. For me, that’s always been carbs of the potato variety, and I was jonesing for chippy chips in the British style. A quick Unilocal search showed up that there was an English(!) food truck close enough that I wouldn’t have to travel to some offroad part of SD for my fix. Phew! I turned up early to their Garnet location and chitchatted to the kind man in the truck while his Kentish colleague did the kitchen-work. The chips were awesome, a serious portion for only 2 bucks and change, with a healthy dose of salt and vinegar. Yumm. Serotonin levels restored for now… Will totes return!

UTC food truck review. This truck does a brisk fish and chips business but I wanted to try something different. After looking at their chalk board I decided on the big ben burger. What sold me was the sharp English chedder included(my favorite). — Big Ben Burger For the high price of the burger the size underwhelms. Then again, what matters most was the taste. In this case, the cheese saved the cuisine. From my picture you can see a very healthy pile of English cheddar goodness. The burger patty tasted like it was previously a frozen disc, but the combination of all ingredients worked. In summation, if you’re looking for big taste in a small package than this is your truck.

After reading all the reviews, I wanted so bad to love this place but it just fell short. This is a review for the Big Ben Burger only. I ordered the Big Ben Burger which was almost $ 9 after tax… without fries! :( I’ve had my good share of eating at various burger joints in So Cali and Vegas. Personally, a big part of what makes a great burger is how the beef patty tastes all by itself. All the toppings and sauces should simply compliment it. Being a «grass-fed» burger I was expecting something delicious and moist. The meat itself was overcooked, dry, and really had no flavor to it. Unfortunately, it tasted very similar to the frozen patties you can purchase at the grocery store. The mature english cheddar had a great aged flavor to it. But the only flavors I could taste were the cheddar and their mustard-mayo. I’ll give them a thumbs up for the toasted brioche bun from Bread & Cie. So for the price, flavor, size, and not including fries — personally not worth it. They are a regular here in our business area so I’ll give their fish & chips a try next time!

God Save the Cuisine came to my apartment complex, Torrey Villas, last night. It was a red flag when about half their items were sold out. The owner said it was because they just came from lunch and didn’t have time to replenish — fair enough. Anyhow, I got the burger and fries. Original, I know. But let me tell you: Without a doubt, the best food truck burger and fries I’ve ever had! You can tell the difference between food trucks that skate by with store-bought crap and fresh, real ingredients. The latter is God Save the Cuisine. The burger, an average-sized but succulent patty, was topped with shaved cheese that perfectly complemented the ranch dressing, and toasted bun. Outstanding. But the real star was the fries. Big, thick, crunch pseudo-steak fries with the perfect amount of seasoning. Maybe a tad bit too much salt? Whatever, that’s nitpicking. This place is great. A food truck that actually cares about doing food right. Check ‘em out

Had a chance to try this cleverly-named food truck and ordered the fish and chips. We ordered right before they were done for the day, but this had no effect on the quality or presentation of our food. My portion came with a golden friend piece of fish with a tasty, but not too heavy batter. It was accompanied with a good portion of fries, cole slaw(small scoop, but very good!), and a little bit of salad. Everything was delicious and the fish was topped with a dollop of tartar sauce. Squeeze the slice of lemon over the top and it’s a satisfying meal under $ 10. What’s cool is that they locally-source their food and list it on their board in front of the truck. They have daily specials and today they had a pumpkin chili that sounded good that they hopefully continue through fall. They have a lot of yummy-sounding options on their menu, which I’ll have to try next time I track them down.

Seriously, one of the best food truck in San Diego! There are only a handful of food trucks around town that interest me, but I’ve become addicted to this one. They stop by our place in UTC every other week, and I’m salivating in the parking lot, waiting for them. :) Awesome fish and chips! The fish is usually very good, with a nice consistency and batter, and tastes great. The chips are even better, somehow. Fresh, perfectly salted and just amazing with their truck ketchup. I plan my weeks around when they’re coming next and can’t wait for their visit. You should check them out… Side note: I’m usually so enamored with the basic fish and chips that I don’t go off menu much, but two of my office mates say their burgers are amazing too. I have seen their grilled fish on naan go out and been tempted. Someday I’ll try those too.

Caught the GSTC Food Truck by my office in UTC, and couldn’t be more pleased with the decision. Going with the Butty(~$ 8) with Fries(+$ 2) and a drink(+$ 2), it put the cost a little over what I would expect. However, in keeping with expectation, the food was deliciously fresh prepared while I stood there. The Butty — A brioche bun topped with cress, their signature tartar sauce, and locally farmed fresh greens. In the middle was a massive slab of locally caught fish(yellow tail?), battered with my personal favorite… Green Flash. I think the only thing that would have gone better for this was paring it with a Hop Head(Green Flash Red), or the currently on tap(August — September) Citra Session(Also Green Flash). The Fries — While I think they should come standard to really adhere to the English style, definitely opt in for these. The fries were awesome! Fresh cut potato, dusted in sea salt, and a dash of vinegar. While I do mention the price being a little more than I would expect, I would happily pay it again. This truck has good style, and great food, I can’t wait to try the Big Ben Burger everyone is talking about. I will definitely be heading here next time they are around.

When God Save the Cuisine’s scarlet double decker bus rolls into your workplace vicinity, you can expect more than just the cleverest pun and British food — the truck also serves a fun, interactive experience that almost makes you feel like you’re visiting England, if only for your half-hour lunch break. If a food truck could have personality, this one’s quite playful. There are half a dozen red and black flannel blankets for customers to use to eat their lunches British picnic style, and a miniature Queen salutes you from the order window. You are encouraged and instructed to wave to her, but make sure you don’t touch her; She would not be amused. During the World Cup games, wooden tip jars hanged for customers to vote for their favorite football teams. Walk up to the truck and you’ll hear them blasting British rock — Muse, Sex Pistols(go figure) or Coldplay, as I did yesterday. Also, I think I saw an extra«U» inserted in the handwritten sandwich board menu to distinguish American FLAVOR from British FLAVOUR. And if that’s not enough for you, you will get served by gentlemen with proper English accents, as the owners are British and passionate about their dishes and the ingredients they use. Where the truck shines is in their actual nosh — which in the end matters more than charm and amusement. Most people groan at the thought of British food, but here they’ve crafted highly-edible English recipes with a California twist, using local and sustainable ingredients from nearby farms and vendors like Suzie’s Farm, Bread and Cie, and AleSmith Brewing Company(for their fish and chips). They serve up grass-fed beef(in the Big Ben burger), free range organic chicken, and there’s always a local fish of the day that varies depending on what’s been caught. Adding to the Cali twist, they also offer giant half liter bottles of Mexican Coke. TIP: Yes, your first instinct will be to go for the fish and chips, but after you satisfy that craving, try the hearty Big Ben burger. It’s topped with the creamiest, most delicious aged English cheddar, so make sure you don’t ask to hold the cheese. If you get it with fries, ask them to fry them extra crispy, because they cut them pretty thick. The curried lamb is also packed with flavor(beware it’s spicy) and a great way to experience English-style Indian food. Portion sizes are just right, and I’m generally still full at dinner time if I grab lunch here

BIGBENBURGER! just WOW! It’s a little small for being $ 8, but the flavor is on point! I think this burger beats a lot of burgers made in a full on kitchen in many restaurants in SD. Great work on the Big Ben Burger… can’t wait to mEAT you again!!!

I had the special for the day which was yellowtail with greens, onion, capers, dried cranberries with drizzled balsamic and tarter sauce all delivered on a flatbread. It was really good. It was a little smaller than I was expecting for $ 10, but delicious non-the-less. They do take credit cards(for a tiny fee). My co-worker got the smoked salmon and liked it as well!
