My girlfriend and I love this restaurant. The fish is fresh caught daily. The fish sandwiches are amazing with coleslaw and fries. You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu. I have been there at least 10 times and have had a great mouth watering meal every time.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I used to go often during lunch because it was near my work. I was absolutely appalled when I found NOT1, NOT2 but 3 pieces of hair in my fish sandwich!!! Worst thing of all is the owner was so nonchalant when I informed him of the first hair found and kept finding more as I continued to eat. It wasn’t until the 3rd hair that he did something about it! ABSOLUTELYPOORCUSTOMERSERVICE and unsanitary! My colleagues and I will never go again after that experience.

feeling dad they are CLOSED! They changed their hours! Closed on Sat & Sun. It’s more of a lunch place now. They close at 7p on several week days. Boo hoo hoo!

I love this place, I normally just get fish and chips but thier fish sandwiches are even better. I’m giving four stars because last time I got the fish and chips I swear I had about half as much fish. Also, they were closed for the holidays for two weeks so I was unable to satisfy my insane fish taco craving and so I turned away mumbled a few profanities and had Mexican food instead, oh well. Still great though and I’m not really complaining. If you love or even just like fish come here and get a sandwich.

Came here with my family on a Saturday for linner(late lunch, early dinner). The service… The owner is amazingly friendly and the food was deliciously authentic! So funny, because the owner says he doesn’t even eat seafood… but he sure can serve it up, and oh honey, please do! I also like how he paid attention to detail. We all kept it simple and ordered water beverages, but he gave my dad a larger glass than the rest of us(he’s a larger guy), which won him over and made my heart warm a few degrees. The little things… Upon walking in, you immediately feel like you walked into something like Cheers. He didn’t know our names, but he seemed glad that we came! The menu… Personally, I think a fried fish basket or seafood platter are the way to go here. The fish fillets were nicely sized, and I was really impressed that they weren’t 50% batter like most places. I happened to regret my order of fish tacos, but got to nibble on the rest of the fam’s fish… and George put it down! Don’t get me wrong, the fish tacos were good, but I’ve had plenty of good fish tacos, so I wasn’t wowed. I also ordered my fave… crab cakes. I thought these were nice and moist, but would pass on them as they tasted more like tuna salad, which I dig, but wasn’t going for. I would definitely come back here. It’s chill and the food is great. Oh, but um, don’t use the bathroom unless you really have to. Enjoy!

Love George’s! The poke is great and that alone would bring me back, but I also enjoy their fish and chips and my husband likes the fish tacos. The only ding I’d throw at them is their ketchup, silly I know, but it’s either cheap or poorly homemade.

Made it to Taco Tuesday today. Tried the fried fish taco, the grilled fish taco, and the chicken taco. I’m not a huge fan of fried fish, but this was on par with other ones I have had. No complaints about that. Between the grilled fish(swordfish), and the chicken, I prefered the chicken. The salsa tasted fresh. They have lots of hot sauces around the restaurant, but I got the impression that those hot sauce bottles are not cleaned all that often. They felt a tad sticky. Overall, a good place. I’ll probably be back to try other offerings.

Came back after a year and I left not wanting to ever come back. The service was unusually horrible, after being told to «what? yeah, find a seat» instead of being greeted, and the check being dropped off with my mouth full of food in the middle of us both eating, instead of a 2 minutes or 2 bite check, I could barely swallow to say I wanted another beer and she was setting down my receipt, unacceptable. It didn’t feel homey like last time, I felt rushed, and not taken care of. My husband wanted to order oysters, and they were out, then picked fish and shrimp and were told they were out of shrimp. I came for the catfish and I felt jipped. I had much smaller pieces than last time, and ate all my fries before I started to even feel full. I won’t be coming back here. Sincerely, disappointed.

My dad, my brother and I often drive out here for lunch, because we love the grilled salmon, which is served with salad and some fries(the best!). George is friendly and service is good. Nothing fancy but you will struggle to find better tasting quality salmon anywhere! For about ten bucks, really good value…

I’ve been here twice. The first time I thought I found a good alternative to Rubios… something authentic to true fish tacos you get south of the border. The second time, not so much. Maybe it was the mediocre service from the person at the register. I came in and sat down then got up after awhile when I realized the unoccupied cashier/waitress wasn’t going to give me a menu. Kinda rude but maybe I’m overreacting. I ended up ordering their Tuesday special, fish tacos… I received the tacos quickly but was not given or offered any lemons or cream. It was soooo dry. I found lemons in the mini fridge next to the sodas. Still dry. So I asked for some of the cream they put in the tacos and the waitress asked«what’s that?»…I was amazed. Eventually she said they made a chipotle sauce for the fish tacos but I ended up with sour cream. It felt like she was trying to talk me out of it. I was so excited to come here every wk and make it a thing but I think I’ll stick to Rubios for now.

I’ve been waiting to try this place for a while because it’s right next to my place but not close enough to talk. It may be a 20 minute walk but it’s 5 minutes more walking than I would like. Is this consider lazy? Since it was Tuesday and they were having a special on tacos, San Diegons loves our Tacos Tuesday, and I am not an exception. The place is cool, lot of random posters and signs with their nautical/fishing theme. It looks clean and inviting. I ordered my my fried fish, grill fish and adobada tacos to-go. They were pretty quick. I was in and out under 10 minutes. It was lively inside and out that evening, full of local Tierrasantians(I just made this word up). I brought it home, since there were people, I offered my my tacos. Didn’t have the chance to enjoy the adobada taco because someone else did. My grill fish was fresh and the fried fish taco were good. However, it was missing something; what was it? I forgot to asked for hot sauces. Not the hot sauce!!! My tacos were missing flavor and dimension. I feel like this may not be an accurate review of this place since it was my first experience here, especially without the hot sauce. Remember to ask for hot sauce!!! Don’t be a fool like me. I’ve heard great things about the sandwiches. I will come back and try a few more items, hopefully my experience will be better especially with some special sauce on it.

All the way from LA. Love the atmosphere. An upgraded Wahoos if you will. Had one fried and one grilled salmon taco. Fresh and tasty. Wednesdays have all you can eat fish and chips with a drink purchase. Gotta come back for that. Great hospitality and experience. Will be back.

First time here and we will definitely be back! Walking distance from our home — a true gem in Tierrasanta!!! Staff are so nice and Taco Tuesday is a great deal. $ 1.50 fried fish taco and $ 2.50 for fresh grilled halibut taco — so Ono!!! less than $ 20 for two of us — my husband is 6’5″ and can throw them down(8 tacos) he was a happy camper

I live in Michigan, but any time I come to California to visit family we eat here. Not only is it a friendly and comfy atmosphere, you get some of the best fish tacos available. I truly appreciate small businesses. This place has an excellent staff and an owner that seemed to know his patrons and their orders. If you’re in the mood for fish tacos, George’s is the place to go!

Stopped by here tonight. The owner was super nice and accommodating. The food was tasty and budget-friendly. My only complaint is their use of styrofoam trays. I wish they used something more earth friendly. The following review was written by my 10-year old vegetarian child, who insisted on writing something up: Go on Taco Tuesday and say you’re a vegetarian and you don’t eat fish, and ask for the grilled fish special for $ 2.50, though ask for the veggie version. It was so good, that even though I wasn’t hungry, I ate two!!! Then we had to leave. Don’t go if you want a quick dinner, not because the food is big, but because you won’t stop after eating one meal. Or two. Or three. Or four. Or five. Or six… Actually, you’d probably be full by then, but still, you’d forget that. Also, they have hilarious foots/paintings/I don’t-know-whats that totally convince you to eat, and its definitely worth it. Believe me.

My 1st visit and I’m hooked(no pun intended). This place is excellent for those that want to eat light and for those that crave greasy fried deliciousness. I chose to eat light and ordered the Traditional Joe Special with the swordfish(it was delicious). Basically it’s the Catch of the Day plate minus the rice, bread & side salad(so i also got a side salad too). All my food was delicious. I loved that I had the choice of 4 different catch of the day fish(tilapia, salmon, swordfish or red snapper). The fish was grilled, the sautéed veggies included fresh spinach, zucchini & mushrooms w/minced garlic & the side salad was super fresh. My dinner partner got the Fish and Shrimp Fried Combo Bucket, which is served with fries, coleslaw and a thick delicious slice of buttery bread(I know it was delish cuz I tried a piece). I wish I’d taken a better pic of the basket because the shrimp are large and lightly breaded. Not over-breaded(like other places) to hide the fact that they’re using smaller size shrimp. If you don’t want sides you can order fried fish, clam strips, shrimp or oysters in ½ lb or 1 lb increments. Drink choices include soft drinks, wine and an option of bottled or draft beers. You can even bring kids(they have a children’s menu). I’m absolutely coming back(on Taco Tuesday); they offer fried and grilled :-) fish tacos for an excellent price. You should definitely visit this place, It’s like visiting a seafood shack on the beach w/out having to go to the beach. It’s perfect for the down to earth seafood junkie that’s not looking for all the foo foo.

I am always on the look out for some great fried fish tacos, and I was very glad to learn that George’s delivered this day indeed. I ordered a pair with a side of black beans for $ 6.95 presented on a nice plate.( ). The fish arrived a deep golden brown topped with fresh cabbage and shredded cheese( ). The fish’s batter was very crisp and the all white fish inside was moist and flaky( ). I like that the tacos were smartly double wrapped in corn tortillas and were not over dressed with the white creamy sauce. The red sauce that came a top of the tacos was mild with good flavor, but I wanted to heat it up, so I used one of their many table hot sauces which was great.( ) Great fish tacos. The black beans came whole and piping hot. They had good flavor and were mildly seasoned. They needed something though, perhaps a sprinkling of cheese. The owners are very nice people, and I like the fact that they acquire their fish fresh daily and prepare it until it runs out.
