I like this place. I’ve been here a few times since I moved here and have always been treated well, nicely, and found what I wanted. I’ve meet and had several interactions with Joe, Rita and Dion they have been helpful and nice, I can get a 6 pack of beer, a quick sandwich or snack just fine. They have milk and eggs if I run short and Rita made a pot of coffee when my friends car broke down when she dropped me off at my apartment and she had to wait for AAA. The place is clean and well stocked, sure it is a little more expensive but I am paying for convenience, I don’t find the prices outrageous. It is near the trolley and across from Seaport Village — so no parking just the usual downtown street parking. I think this place is great and the people are nice, the pastrami on rye is good, the turkey on wheat works too and I love the Boars Head snack selection.

Great little convenience store. perfect for those days when I poorly plan my lunch or want to go for a midnight snack run. The chipotle chicken sandwich is great… and with my bag of cheetos puffs = lazy day lunch. The sweet tooth in me loves this place(candy, ice cream, soda). My alcoholic side doesn’t agree because the alcohol is a tad expensive. :(

I came to this deli not knowing the area too well and the employees were very welcoming and kind and helpful. I think I ordered the best sandwich I’ve ever had tasted! If u want a top of the line sandwich then u should totally check this place out its even great prices!

Love this place … Has everything you can need from food, to groceries and liquor. Average pricing but definitely worth everything. Love love the sandwiches they are amazing. My favorite is the roast beef sandwich! The owner is very nice very nice customer service especially behind the cash register :-)

The sandwiches are really good and yes, prices are high, but that’s expected in a downtown deli. The manager/owner gentleman is SUPER nice. The middle-aged Hispanic man that others are mentioning in their reviews is a bit… rough around the edges. He really should just be let go to be honest. After a while he recognizes you and you sort of are«in». Otherwise I think he can be an ass. Still, I love the deli its very convenient.

Good location for something quick that you need for the house or you want something to munch on. The pricing is a little bit higher than normal because it is attached to a hotel. If you’re using your card there is a five dollar minimum. Need an ATM they have one inside!

Deli is pretty good as long as you can get somone to actually help you. I have litterally stood there for five minutes before while the deli guy went back and forth between the cooler and the counter and didnt so much as smile at me. The girls and the older guy that work the register are super nice though.

There stuff is overpriced, but due to the convenience its an easy place to go to when you forgot something and don’t want to run back to the store. They have boars head sandwhiches which is probably there best saving grace!

Wow! Just walked in this place and asked the man behind the deli a question about the sandwiches, «do you have any that aren’t wheat bread?» I guess as a customer I’m a serious inconvenience! This man rolled his eyes and ignored me. I’m starving so I just decided to «build my own sandwich» as the sign says. I guess he doesn’t like working because I nicely asked him could I build it. He rolled his eyes and turned around. I’ve never in my life experienced such RUDE, horrible customer service. These employees are terrible and I’ll never return, I’ll definitely let everyone I know to never give their money to this place. Never again.

I work in seaport village but spend 15 minutes of my 30 minute lunch break to walk — order — get back to eat … Do worth it !! Decent prices in comparison to the village but way better quality ingredients for your money — staff is friendly and quick all around ! Two thumbs way up :)

Didn’t have a sandwich, but went In for liquor or Super Bowl Sunday. Nice selection of all the essentials and sundries. This seems like it would be a good place to grab a quick lunch on the patio.

Hands down the worst sandwich I have ever had, and I just paid $ 8 for it… I got the pastrami on rye. They put the meat and cheese in the microwave then place the meat on toasted bread. The bread had the weirdest chewy texture and Im thinking it was stale. OH, and the meat was cooked on a plate that was pulled from above the dirty microwave and coated in plastic wrap. the(friendly) girl tore off the plastic wrap and washed it in a sink using a dingy scrub pad that was sitting in a dirty bucket of sudsy water. Seriously? You should be ashamed calling yourself a deli. A toaster and a microwave are straight up shameful. A sandwich press would cost you all of $ 20 on amazon and free shipping with prime. Ralphs on the other hand makes GREAT sandwiches and they’ll toss it under some heat and toast it just right. Well worth the half a mile walk.

Good, basic sandwich shop that uses Boar’s Head meats. For those who haven’t had Boar’s Head, it’s good stuff. They give you a good amount of meat too, which I like. I don’t mess around with sandwiches. The girl working didn’t say anything when I walked in but she was quick and made a good sandwich! Also, they have kettle chips. And Diet Dr Pepper.

Unfortunately, pretty much the only option in the area. There isn’t too much within walking distance of my work these days, but when I saw a deli sign offering boar’s head meat, I was intrigued. Unfortunately, it was all down hill from there. From the deli clerk yelling in profanities in spanish to the beverage dispenser, to the highly over priced everything, I really should have just walked, no ran away. But again, it’s about the only option in the area. Back to the sandwich… Boar’s head is in many circles considered a quality meat… and I agree. But when you take a quality meat, and throw it in a microwave to cook it, you essentially destroy any benefit of using a quality meat. I was hungry enough to possibly over look this, but when you nuke the pastrami to a texture of burnt bacon, you even further destroy the concept of using a quality meat within a sandwich. In exception to convenience to those who live immediately in the area, or sheer desperation or hunger, I just don’t see myself ever returning here again.

Returned to G Street Deli after a 7 year hiatus. I used to frequent this place when I lived in the apartments across the street and ordered the Juan Carlos all the time. The menu has completely changed and there’s no remnants of what it used to be. You might as well be ordering a sandwich from Ralph’s.

Excellent corner market for locals. Cashiers are super friendly! You’ll be surprised at how much they actually keep in stock.

G Street Deli gets some extra credit for being across the street from my home, but it is what it is — a small deli catering to the local hotels. It does have necessities for when I don’t feel like walking to Ralphs(paper towels, toiletries, beer), which is nice to have. The selection of beer is OK but you are definitely paying for convenience. The staff is friendly. It is a decent, not outstanding, local bodega to pick up what you need. A good thing to have in the hood, but nothing to wow you.

MYFAVORITESANDWICHPLACE! I just don’t come to G Street Deli & Convenience Store for it’s liquor. Nopes. I show up for the sandwiches! Huge sandwiches, filled with goodies in the middle, with a price range between $ 5.50-$ 7.50. I always get the Reuben w/corned beef, swiss and sauerkraut on rye($ 7.00). I tried to get my reuben on wheat bread once. My sandwich maker looked at me with an ‘Oh, please. Are you serious?’ look and a wink. So, I broke down and meekly told him I’ll take it on toasted rye. He was right. Tasted waaaay better. Whenever I’m in the area, I always make it a point to grab a sandwich to go. A couple of blocks from the San Diego Convention Center and Seaport Village, this place is a true hidden gem, with it’s great deli and friendly customer service. Grab your lunch, some chips and a drink and you can enjoy the goods outside on the patio, under our beautiful San Diego sun.
