Forgotten Barrel Tasting Room

Can’t say enough about Forgotten Barrel. Easy to find, very very friendly, and Paris is a master. His Reserve is amazing and deserves the Robert Parker review it got. I’d tell you what it is… But best for you to stop in and taste and little. I’m actually very happy with his Forgotten label. 6.1 as well as the 5150 were yummy as well.
Can’t wait to go back!

Stumbled on this location by accident, glad I found it. Became a member of the wine club, which includes a some free tastings every quarter. The wines are excellent, and Paris shares stories about some of them. I especially like the reds, all Napa, and you might get lucky and he’ll have a Reserve bottle open and you can taste it. Generous with his pours. I brought my husband by when he was visiting, great date night (dinner and wine tasting). Tasting room is dog friendly, and you might get to meet Elwood, his rescue pooch from Mexico.
UPDATE: I have since been back a few times, and met some of the other members of his staff. All are awesome, no pressure to buy, and no worries about the tasting fee as a ember (I always buy wine). I like sitting at the bar and meeting other patrons, some of whom are «regulars» who also come often.
I do believe you can bring in food, too, an added bonus.

Paris was fantastic! Not only is his wine amazing but his knowledge of wine and the industry is second to none. With limited time in San Diego this was absolutely worth the time! I will be recommending Forgotten Barrel to everyone!

Hidden gem! Just got back from one of the best wine tastings we have ever had. Great wine and Paris know his stuff. Tried more than 8 wines and each was fantastic. We plan to be regulars!

Stopped in with a few folks yesterday for an afternoon of wine tasting. Fantastic experience! Paris is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. Love the stories about making the different wines. The venue is clean and comfortable. We’ll be back!

Finally the real deal in wine has arrived in San Diego. Don’t miss a Napa valley quality wine experience available in your back yard. Paris is a true wine expert and he has amazing wines that match your pallet add your pocket book.

Awesome tasting room with great Napa wines! Paris (the owner) is a great guy and will love to tell you anything you want to know about the wine. His super friendly dogs hangs out while you drink, and he is obviously the brains behind the operation.
Don’t forget to buy a couple bottles on your way out and support a great local business!

This was the best find. And walking distance from our house. Score!!! :) Thanks to Scott from Donnavan’s for recommending it. All of Forgotten Barrel’s wines are really good. Their pinots have great range and are fantastic. All wines are reasonably priced too which was refreshing. Gabriella was FANTASTIC in the tasting room. We’ll definitely be back.

Very nice hidden gem in the heart of Carmel Valley! I found this place driving by and thought I would check it out with my wife. Paris was a wonderful host, pouring a great selection of his creations and providing colorful and entertaining background of each wine. Raise a toast in Forgotten Barrel!

Tasty, reasonably priced wines made by a masterly vintner. Paris is one of those winemakers who lives the art of wine and knows how to share it with the masses and the masters at the same time. This is THE place to visit in San Diego if you appreciate tasting great wine direct from the source. Great for groups too!

Finally a great tasting room in San Diego! The search is over people. Paris’ over delivers on what I have come to call my favorite wines in, possibly, the whole darn state of California! Organic, sustainable farming makes me feel good about where its coming from and what I’m drinking.

Forgotten Barrel is a gem in the Carmel Valley/​Torrey Hills area. My husband and I tasted there over the weekend and were impressed with every single wine that was poured. All of them were thoughtfully crafted to be unique, flavorful, smooth, and absolutely outstanding. Gabriella poured for us and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. The winemaker, Paris, also came into the tasting room while we were there and talked to us for a good long while about his experience in the industry, his methods, his values, and our taste preferences. We were thrilled with the opportunity to chat with the winemaker, as that has not often been our experience at other wineries! The tasting room itself is also a hip, fun place to spend an afternoon. We are already looking forward to our next visit and are excited to have this exceptional place in our neighborhood.
