They make great coffee and crepes. Really good stuff especially considering it’s just a kiosk at a mall. But service is bad. The girls who work there were more interested in their phones and the attitude was a little off

Quality of the drinks are very well done. Ordered the regular cold brew and a cortado. The location is a bit hidden below the plaza and it’s not a welcoming place. Maybe because their fairly new? But I would come back just because of their drinks!

Stopped by on New Years Day. Two ladies were working and they were very nice but SLOW. It took them at least ten minutes just to take my order, and there wasn’t anyone in front of me. In that time the girl working the coffee machine made ONE drink and the crêpe girl made TWO crepes. It took another ten minutes for them to make my crêpe and coffee. I was there a few days prior, on December 29th, and ordered a crêpe and coffee. With a line it still took less than ten minutes to get my order compared to the 20+ it took on my most recent visit. Not okay. The food and drink were good, which is the only thing keeping this from being a one star review. Check the ripeness of the bananas if you want them in your crêpe. They were using green bananas while I was there.

EXPENSIVE! Expensive and they just raised prices on already pricey coffee. $ 9.50 for a small latte and large vanilla latte is too much! They only raised prices at the la jolla location. Ridiculous. Ive been getting coffees here over a year but now take my business else where bc the excessive price. I am happy they serve expresso based coffee properly– european style, velvety foam at the right temperature. Coffee orders are made when ordered which take a tad longer than the big franchises but thats the way coffees are made everywhere else in the world. There is american drip style coffee available but i advise against it. Suzy does a great job, always with a smile. The owner, cant figure out why he is the only male on staff at this location. He is not friendly in the slightest.

This review is just for their oatmeal apricot cookie. I had just had gelato at Bottega Italiana but was craving a cookie(I had just finished finals, ok…) and happened to see some here as I was walking by. They had 2 different types — chocolate chip and oatmeal apricot — and I ended up going for the latter after asking a staff member for her recommendation. She was right! I ended up really liking the oatmeal apricot cookie, even though I’m not the biggest fan of apricots. The apricot taste came out really well against the oatmeal flavor and, in my opinion, the cookie was definitely superior to the traditional oatmeal raisin cookie. The one complaint I have is that the cookie was sweeter than what I would’ve preferred, as after finishing about ¾ of it, my taste buds were not as happy as they were on the first bite. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking to get a solid cookie! I think they’re more known for their crepes, though, so I definitely plan to check that out next time I’m here.

Shopping at UTC and my daughter wants a crêpe. Located at a kiosk by Sears/Anthropologie/Pottery Barn. Ordering drinks is awkward. If there is a line, it can block the traffic walking thru the mall(never fun during the holidays). They have 2 windows. One, where you place your order and the other where you pick it up(they are right next to one another). However, the staff wasn’t communicating with one another and the lady announcing drinks were ready was soft spoken and no one knew could hear who’s drink it was(sometimes they used names, sometimes they yelled out drink name). I’d recommend developing a system for efficiency. They have a few tables on the side of the kiosk(it would be better if the windows for ordering were by the tables). Café Viennese was very good. I’d give this 4 stars. Yummy Yummy Crêpe has bananas & strawberries and my daughter added Nutella. First of all, this is HUGE. Awkward to carry thru the mall. Second, its pricey. Third, the Crêpe was a bit runny, although the ingredients were fresh.

I went to elixir on a Monday afternoon. I was cold and wet from the unexpected rain showers, so I decided to order a hot latte and crêpe from elixir. I was warmly greeted by the barista, Susie. She was friendly and informative on my caffeine needs. She made latte and a delicious nutella crêpe to accompany it! I give a 5 star review for elixir and Susie! :)

I’ve been to the Escondido location a few times so I’m very familiar with Elixir Espresso Bar and their red La Marzocco espresso machines. Lucky for me their UTC location is within walking distance from my work. You should check this place out because Elixir doesn’t suffer from the high traffic problems found at other UTC coffee shops like Starbucks and The House. Use this to your advantage because the coffee here is outstanding. — My favorite drink is their hot Chai Tea Latte. It’s a little stronger in flavor than many of the coffee carts around my work. — I think the girl with the sleeve tattoos doesn’t like me. Every time I order a Chai Latte my design looks like an onion :(

A mini stand located at West UTC Mall in La Jolla… I ordered the Yummy Yummy Crêpe(strawberry and bananas, optional Nutella for 50 cents more), and my friend ordered the expresso… both so delish! I kid you not, the crêpe doesn’t come in its typical cone shape… it kinda looks like a skinny burrito lol. But all in all, the crêpe was light and the fruits were fresh! And with the addition of Nutella, bomb dot com! Can’t go wrong when you’re craving something sweet:)

Best tasting coffee in UTC mall but it does have some setbacks. I will say though, if you’re looking for coffee with quality espresso and cute latte art, this is the place! Be aware it’s not a walk in store but a small vendor; I almost walked past it the first time around. It was $ 4 dollars for a very small 8 oz viennese latte. You can get a large latte for the same price which I had the second time I visited. I couldn’t taste much difference between the viennese and a plain latte to justify the price. Be prepared to wait a little because they usually only have up to 2 – 3 baristas. But I’d say it’s worth the wait since the coffee tastes delicious.

I love lattes that have the decorated foam. And I love crepes. When I’m at the mall and I’m craving crepes and it’s in the evening. This is my go to coffee place instead of Starbucks. The coffee is good and the food is good.

TL;DR — Decent lattes, meh(but quick) service. 10am I ordered a viennese latte. I stood there for about 3 minutes before anyone took my order. A girl literally walked up to the register, broke some change, and walked away. And I just stood there. Alone. Looking like an idiot. The latte is strong, sweet and had good foam(really important!) So, although the service was meh. I will be back… for the lattes and the shopping!

Creamy and delicious lattes and scrumptious crepes! UTC mall is all about outdoors so the Elixir coffee kiosk fits right in. There is a small seating area right next kiosk where you can enjoy your drink or food in a nice open air setting. My favorite savory crêpe is spinach, cheese and egg. Its plenty to fill your tummy. The crêpe itself is light, very thin and perfectly browned. If you are in the mood for something sweet, there are of course all time favorites like nuttella cream crêpe and strawberry and whipped cream crêpe. Their espresso drinks are superb. I’ve been getting their lattes and it can’t be compared with Starbucks one. Elixir’s lattes are rich in flavor, with perfect thick foam and very smooth. Ever time I’m in the area, I always swig by this wonderful coffee place.

Yum — I’m into their coffee. They use the Caffe Calabria beans and it really makes a difference. I much prefer to stop here for my lunch time coffee rather than the Starbucks in the food court. I’m personally WAY over the Starbucks roasts, and have taken a fond liking to basically anything else. My favorite is just grabbing a double espresso over ice, or an iced americano with some cream! I’ve also had a chai latte here that was absolutely amazing. They’ve got a lot of other things that I haven’t tried yet(crepes and pastries) that I don’t think I’ll be able to convince myself to indulge in. The only bad thing is the service tends to be a little slow — they’ve usually only got 1 – 2 people working at a time. The place really only needs 1 – 2 people, but when there’s more than 3 orders it can take a little longer than you’d expect(especially when they’ve got crepes and drinks going simultaneously). They also don’t tend to come to the counter as soon as you walk up because whomever is working is usually preparing another order. Not a big deal, but if you’re in a big rush it’s something to keep in mind!

I am so impressed with Elixer Expresso Bar that it makes me curious to try the real deal at Café Calabria in North Park. It is so convenient to have this place within the UTC mall. My boyfriend’s quad white mocha was the most delicious coffee drink I have yet to try. The crepes look delicious too(I’ve been eying that honey crêpe photo that Jack M. posted). I had the Caffe Viennese, which has espresso with honey, steamed milk, and cinnamon. It was smooth and slightly sweet, with neither the cinnamon nor honey overpowering one nor the other.

Incredible coffee. I had a quad white mocha here and I was craving more. I am still craving more. It’s crazy to think a little espresso bar could be so good but trust me it is. The folks in line at the Starbucks in this mall are missing out.

A perfect Mexican mocha! I worked as a barista for many years, with most of my years(and training) spent at a small coffee shop in Ashland, Oregon. We made a Mexican mocha that was earth-shattering(as well as a Mexican mocha milkshake — let that sink in for a minute) and up until the last couple years I’ve had a hard time finding Mexican mochas, let alone a good one. Most are too sweet or just taste like regular chocolate. The Mexican mocha I got at Elixir was one of the most legit MMs I’ve tasted since Oregon. We only stopped here for coffee so I have nothing to say about their crepes, except that I want to go back and order the Yummy-Yummy if only to hear the employees yell out«YUMMY-YUMMYCREPEFORJONELLE» like I’m five-years-old and they’re feeding me using the airplane technique. Note: They have a drink with the word«elixir» in it and be warned — it’s a frozen blended drink. My husband didn’t realize that and was bummed when they handed him a giant frozen drink with whipped cream. It was pretty busy so he just threw it away instead of getting back in line. So sad.

I had always passed by this place without a thought, but this morning I really wanted to try a new coffee place. Didn’t really know what to order, so I went with a 12 oz Mexican mocha. Delicious! It’s not too sweet like I expected and tastes more like Mexican hot cocoa than coffee, which I like. If I wanted to taste coffee, I would’ve gotten something else. It’s really decently priced as well and the barista seemed super sweet! Would definitely recommend this to others that are sick of Starbucks. This place doesn’t get enough customers because of their location. It needs more exposure. Try it and tell your friends :)

If you’re going to be shopping for a while, definitely stop by this place to get your caffeine fix. They have state of the art espresso machines so you know it would be hard for them to mess up on your drinks. The Baristas were genuinely friendly and cool to talk with. 4 stars for the flavorful coffee and down to earth customer service! — Ordered a hot Raspberry Chocolate latte which was satisfying to the last sip. — They added extra love by designing my latte with art! They were able to make hearts and swans which is pretty neat. — Outside patio seating is always a plus in this perfect San Diego weather! I would have to go back to try out their popular crepes and other appealing drinks! There is also a macaroon booth nearby the place, definitely worth trying with their coffee!
