Cool addition to the airport. I love how the airport is adding more cool restaurants and place to eat. I sometimes actually enjoy getting to the airport a bit early now these days. I picked up a snack here while waiting for my flight to depart and it was really good. They have other interesting items also but did not want to eat to much since I was going to be sitting down for awhile.

Somehow, despite flying into SAN terminal 2 for years, I never knew about this hidden gem– for which my jeans are probably thankful. But I know about it now! Next to the Starbucks, because coffee and donuts, duh! You can’t miss the delightful giant pink circles of fatty goodness. If strawberry isn’t your think, because clearly you’re wrong, they have other artisan flavors like dolce de leche and german chocolate. The flavors change(perhaps seasonal) so you’ll just have to brave the walk over and check it out. Your waistline won’t thank you, but your tastebuds certainly will.

Great selection of unique desserts. Love that they have Donut Bar doughnuts here! Even though our flight was late in the evening they still had a good selection to choose from like apple fritters, maple bourbon, and bacon maple. Service was very nice and prices were reasonable for airport food.

OMG, there are good desserts at reasonable prices at the San Diego airport(terminal 2, United Air section)? I visited just before boarding a 5:45 flight and the caramel crème brûlée donut I purchased was still very good in both taste and texture. Can only imagine how good it would be in the morning right after they are delivered. I wish I had purchased one of there«Love Desserts» t-shirts for $ 16.99, a pretty good price for an airport purchase.

Tiny little kiosk style store in the middle of the United domestic terminal area(near the 40+ gates). They feature unique baked treats and candies as well as drinks and ice cream. If you are looking for a small«thank you» gift for your petsitter or a fun little«I missed you» gift for your child or spouse, bring them one of my faves… the Donut Bar donut — which comes in a variety of freshly made/delivered custom donuts like«Pop Tart» or «S’mores». They even often have special occasion donuts — like the Star Wars donut posted by another fan(looked like R2D2!). I also recommend the individual sized«apple pie» or «carrot cake» IN-A-MASON-JAR! Great for taking on the plane as a snack(in fact I heard those are a fave among plane crews!). If you want to treat your loved one or treat yourself after a long trip, stop by here on your way out and grab something to make your next flight more enjoyable!

This was a good welcome coming off the plane into the airport. It reminds me of a little kiosk type place but their presentation of food reeled me in. I love donuts — lots of donuts so I took a look around and finally got one. They are BIG fluffy and delicious. Not your typical kinds. They had a pistachio one, maple and bacon, pop tart, and mocha caramel that I can remember. Good price of about $ 3 bucks. Easily eatable by 2 or 3 people. Really nice lady too!

I stumbled across Elegant Desserts in Terminal 2(next to Gate 46) quite by accident. The last two times I was in the San Diego Airport, I was too busy indulging in Phil’s BBQ to notice much else(especially after the BBQ food coma that ensued). But, since I always end up around this area at Gate 46 – 47, I actually took a good look at Elegant Desserts(ED) this time, based on one particular feature that caught my eye — the familiar-looking Donut Bar sign. Anyone who’s read my reviews would know by now that I’m the HUGEST Donut Bar fan. Of course, I have my favorites – the«Mud Pie,» «Homer’s Donut» and«Oh My PBOREO,» to name a few – so I immediately noticed that this desserts kiosk sold an assortment of goodies from Donut Bar. Upon closer inspection, I saw the«Nutella» donut, «Big Poppa Tart»(strawberry or cherry version, which features an actual Pop Tart inside the donut) and a few others. The girl working at the kiosk told me to ask if I had any questions, and she mentioned that the kiosk only started selling some of the fresh donuts from DB since November 2014, so not even that long ago. It seems like 5 – 6 different flavors are featured — some of the donut shop’s most popular treats, and some of the featured seasonal flavors. In addition to those famous donuts, ED offers bagels, breakfast options, chilled Stumptown Coffee(if I remember correction), cookies and various sweet treats. Some of the dessert options included cookies from The Patio on Goldfinch(«Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip»), as well as macarons and cute desserts in mason jars(like«Carrot Cake»). The other treats looked tempting, especially some of those cookies, but those donuts were just calling my name. Who knew that Donut Bar donuts would be featured so close to my gate? So, since I had some time to wait at the gate, I ordered one of my favorite donut flavors – the«Oh My Peanut Butter OREO” – which was slightly more expensive than the ones at DB(I think it’s $ 2 at the donut shop, but it was closer to $ 2.40 at the kiosk), but that’s a small price to pay for being able to enjoy one of my favorite sweets right there at the gate. This flavor features a fluffy yeast donut stuffed with Peanut Butter OREO inside and is topped with peanut butter frosting drizzled with chocolate. Since I’ve gotten this flavor before, I know it’s a limited-time flavor, so I just had to enjoy it while it was still available! Unlike the donuts at DB, these donuts come in their own individual containers, so you don’t have to worry about a sticky mess that gets inside of a bag or box if you can’t finish the entire donut.(Of course, I did, so that wasn’t a problem, but having a container is a neat option). It’s also cool that ED even features a countertop and seating all around the large kiosk, so you can set your luggage down and eat comfortably after purchasing your sweets. … when I returned from my weekend trip, I ended up exiting the plane from the same gate, so I passed ED again on my way to baggage claim. I had no intention of stopping, as I was all jetlagged and anxious to leave the airport, but it happened to be National Star Wars Day … and, lo and behold, there were Star Wars-themed donuts from Donut Bar featured at the kiosk. On the plane, I had just been looking at Donut Bar’s Instagram page and wishing I could get my hands on one of those Star Wars-themed treats, but I had no time to actually go to the Downtown store(besides, since it was Star Wars Day, it was sure to be a mayhem there with all the specially designed donuts). Since ED featured the R2D2 donut that I really actually wanted to try … I caved and made a slight detour before going to baggage claim. The R2D2 donut was a smaller chocolate cake donut that was in circle-like shape to form R2’s head and the icing décor was on point. I was thankful for the donut’s protective container – and the lady even gave me a handle bag – so I could take my donut with me in one piece and not have to worry about it getting all messed up. Needless to say, I think I’ve got my dining options all worked out anytime I visit the SD Airport — Phil’s for my main meal, and dessert’s just a few steps away. I’m not sure if it’s a dangerous or delightful thing that I discovered that Donut Bar donuts are featured here, but in the event that I’m craving those donuts and can’t go to the store anytime soon … now I know exactly what to do.
