I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but after years of dealing with Remik, this has been well earned. We worked with Remik for many years, and we should have pulled the plug a LONG time ago. It was one of those things that our site didn’t go down often, so we could handle the horrible service… The only two positives were: 1) he had(maybe still does) a staff member or two that were very nice and helpful 2) our site didn’t do down often. The downsides: Remik has horrible customer service and he’s the owner — examples to follow. Our site would be slow often and they’d come up with excuses all the time. We were told they had software to monitor this issue but obviously they didn’t or they didn’t pay attention to it. When we’d call, they’d say let me look into it. We’d be on the phone for about five minutes and then they’d say everything looks fine on our end. The site would then be back to normal. There is no doubt in my mind they were fixing the issue while they were on the phone with us and then lying about it being normal. This was a common issue with them over the years. It wasn’t uncommon for Remik to not reply to us for weeks at a time. With a company that holds all your website data, you want someone you can trust. Remik is not that person. One day when I came into work in the morning our hosted email system was down. I called up Remik and his reply was, I emailed you and you didn’t reply so I deleted it. Some of you reading this may think I’m joking or exaggerating, I’m not. He said we had an influx of spam complaints and since I didn’t reply to his email, he just decided to delete it instead of call us or fix the issue. I’m not sure how much value you put your email system for an online ecommerce business, but for us it is a primary sales and support channel. The person that you trust to host your business for you just decides to deleted it because you didn’t reply to an email you hadn’t seen yet(we had a separate email account that he emailed — one that is checked less frequently because it didn’t have day to day operation stuff). We should have left dotcomhost years ago. We put up with Remik’s horrible service for years. The final straw that broke the camel’s back was his inability to get our server up to speed with the newer PCI compliance rules. We are not going to jeopardize our customers’ security. At that point we shopped around and decided on a company. That company logged into our data and Remik tracked the log in. He then blocked that companies IP from accessing our server since he figured out we were making the change. The only benefit from that was to screw with them and us. We’ve spent 10’s of thousands with Remik over the years and this is how he works. He doesn’t care about his customers, has some of the worse customer service I’ve ever experience, and goes above and beyond to screw with you if you don’t do what he wants. There are so many other examples, but I’ve already wasted too much of my time on dotcomhost. Bottom line, DON’T do it! Any option out there is better!

Let it be known that dotCOM Host isn’t recommended for anyone outside of the adult entertainment business. I had a ‘managed’ server with them and when I would try to request information or doing what a managed hosting company should do, I get nothing but ‘hmmms and hawwws’ about it; and then they ‘waiver’ charges just to make it seem like they are doing me a favor. Its basically run by Remik, a bitter guy who shut down my server after declaring that I was past due, when it was an error on his end. There was no phone call or even email about this past due. Just decided to shut it down until I emailed him proof of my previous month’s payment. Because of that, I left them, and out of revenge, they redirected my old domains that weren’t switched to a new server, to a porn site as well. So if you expect to have good business with them, I highly don’t recommend them.
