After my battery & alternator in my car conked out on the freeway, I found DocTow on Unilocal with overall positive reviews so I decided to give them a call. After placing the call at 4.30pm on a weekday, with the approaching rush hour coming, I assumed it shouldn’t take long for the tow truck to reach me and get my car to a repair center downtown. I must have waited at least 45 minutes before the tow truck showed up, despite clearly describing exactly where my car was located over the phone(I-5 S just north of the Genessee Avenue overpass. It took a further 15 – 20 minutes to get the car on the truck(which was expected) but by the time we were finally ready to roll, it was well into heavy peak hour traffic. At one point, the driver(who was nice enough) following his navigator instructions pulled off the highway a few exits too early only to reenter almost straight away, costing me some more time. We finally reached the service center downtown just after 6pm. I was then told that paying the fee via a card(which seemed fairly high — over $ 200) would incur an extra 3%. This policy seemed a little ridiculous as there was no way I was carrying that kind of cash in an unforseen event. I did ask for a quote over the phone when I was ordering the DocTow service and none was given nor their pricing scheme explained. In fact, I was urged to get off the phone in order for the call center girl to be able to call the truck. Overall, the whole procedure seemed quite costly to tow a car from La Jolla to Downtown SD. While I was waiting, a tow truck that works for the local country approached me and asked if I wanted to be towed. I probably would have saved some cash if I had asked him to tow my car instead of DocTow. Unfortunately, I had already booked the DocTow service and would’ve been charged a cancellation fee.

Great service ! If you ever break down with your car you better call them ! I broke down on 805 south the driver came after 15 minuets and towed my car. Thank you so much !

My car broke down on the highway I called doctow they came after 20 minuets and towed my car. They are very professional and the prices are great … I will defiantly use them again !

Used Doc tow yesterday when I visited San Diego for a few days. My car didn’t start and Doc tow came in 25 min. Started my car in 5 min and the service and price where great. Highly recommend.

I have a bad luck i guess i got locked out from my Car in the UTC mall. so i called my insurance so they can send me someone that will help me. they sent me DocTow and they were very good! they opened my car easily and quickly… thanks to my insurance agent and DocTow for the help. i cant believe this is the 2nd time in a month that i stuck i need help :)
