The food was always pretty good, but I went today and the business is no more. There is a sign that says Thai food coming soon.

Wasn’t super impressed by this place. Thought prices were kinda high for hot dogs and fries(especially when you can get bomb ones at Costco). Felt like I was rushed to order my first time there. Also, they were playing episodes of Rachel Ray when I was in there which I thought was weird. The water dispenser was busted and was spraying all over the damn place. Not bad but not good.

Stumbled on this place walking around at the beach and I’m glad we did! Food was awesome! We had sliders, corn dogs, and fries and it was all delicious. The owner was very nice. I would recommend stopping in if you are in the area :)

Way overpriced for the quality type food you get. The food tasted ok. I had the Chicago Dog and it came with chips. My partner had the Texas dog. The bun was cold and the chips they give you were enough to line the basket. We shared a basket of fries that had the mozzarella cheese and gravy on it. I really didn’t care for that. It seemed a little burnt and you could not taste any of the gravy. The location is somewhat hard to find and the service was ok. The dining area was a little warm so it made eating in there a little unpleasant.

This place is bomb — fast and delicious. I came in because the place is downstairs in the building I work at, and I needed a quick lunch. I was greeted by who I assume is the owner who sounded he was from Chicago, and he gave me the low down on the options available. He told me one of the favorites was the PB fried dog, based on what’s on it — bacon wrapped, deep fried with chili, slaw and jalapenos, I was sold. It was awesome, very tasty and not too much of any item on there. Definitely a must try if you are in the area if you want a good hot dog. I’ll have to try the sliders next!

Great food! I went there with 5 people and we tried to order everything on the menu. The fries are amazing! Rosemary fries are bomb, but the fries with the gravy are to die for! The sliders are great and the service is stellar! We had the spike dog, Chicago, and fried dog. All three were superb choices! I can’t believe such an amazing place is here in SD! You have to stop by and eat here! It’s f***ing amazing!

The friendliest place we’ve found! Had a spike dog… delicious!!! Order a side of fries and you’ll get a nice sized basket to share with your friends.

Had a late lunch here before we left San Diego to head back to Phoenix. We both got the corn dog and shared some rosemary fries. The service was friendly enough and the food was pretty good. We’d definitely come back here again.

Overall, good dogs and sliders. It was super hot in there, though, on a day that was not particularly hot which made the environment a little uncomfortable. And though the food was good, I have to admit I thought it was a little overpriced.

Took first bite of hot dog and was in heaven. Couldn’t help my outburts to the owner David how delicious the chili dog was. After trying that dog and the chili cheese fries, I knew I had to to try a slider and I went with the bacon cheeseburger. Even better than the hot dog. Basic ingredients, basic idea, not over complicated and processed. All flavors complemented each other well. Even things I don’t typically like, including peppers and onions complimented the meat well. David the owner was awesome, he talked with us and explained his product and business plan. Excellent service. Definitely a must if in the PB area. I will come back many times.

Absolutely Delicious. I was a little hesitant walking into the place as it doesn’t look all that welcoming from outside, but once inside it felt like a true hotdog/deli shack. I haven’t had one of their hot dogs yet but all the sliders are delicious. The regular fries are good but I recommend going with the rosemary fries. Last few times I have been there it has been extremely busy, which I am stoked to see for Diego’s sake but it does mean that there will be a bit of a lengthy wait for your food to come out — to me it is worth the wait though. Whenever I bike/skate down the beach boardwalk in PB I always look forward to taking a pit stop at Diego’s.

We stopped in here on a whim Saturday after having a couple of beers. Being a hot dog fan, I am surprised I have never heard about this place! I had the chili cheese hot dog! YUM… so loaded up you had to eat it with a fork and knife. The rosemary fries are delish, too! My friends had the sliders and raved about them. maybe I will get those next time. The owner was very very nice. He made us feel so welcome and was so helpful. But, let’s not forget how clean the bathroom was… seriously, the cleanest bathroom in all of PB! I’ll be back =)

Sliders are $ 3 each or less when buying multiple. I had the Gobbler(turkey) and the San Diego classic. Both were very tasty, on great rolls, not just plain buns. Also had the rosemary fries($ 5) which were really tasty but not oily. I gave it 4 stays instead of 5 because I think it’s a bit pricey. All in all good food and close to beach.

This place was a great find on our first night in Pacific Beach! Being from Cleveland, we have had the specialty dogs in our area before, and these could go head to head with them, no problem! We ordered the Max Dog(chili dog), and the Classic Sliders. Tasted great, without the heartburn. Staff is super friendly as well. While they cooked our order(everything is made to order), we were given some other dining suggestions for the area, which a lot of restaurants don’t like to do. The recommendations were great. We went back three times more during the week. Everything we ate was delicious, and the shakes are great too!

I was expecting more… more unique dog choices and a better setting. If you’re in the neighborhood and you’re feeling like a dog, you’ll be happy I’m sure. If you drove way out of your way, probably not.

This little beach restaurant has very tasty hot dogs! If you are looking for some great food go here! The reason this review is only 2 stars is because of the service. The first time I went in I ordered a simple corndog and the chef began harassing me. He yelled at me for only ordering a corndog and kept probing me asking me why I didnt order a fancy hotdog. Even once my corndog was ready he stood there and kept bothering me, and he watched me eat. SOCREEPY I was shocked that anyone would yell at me for my choice of food! It was ridiculous. I later found out this man was the manager named Chris. The rest of the staff seemed to be bothered by him and the young girl behind the counter came and apologized endlessly for her managers behavior. I went back at night a few weeks later, when he wasnt there and tried a Chicago dog,(which was delicious) The staff seemed way more laid back and friendly when he wasnt around, and I could enjoy my hotdog in peace. GREATHOTDOGS, JUSTGOWHENTHECREEPYMANAGERISNTTHERE(which is apparently at night) I highly recommend the Chicago dog!

I think that the art of the hot dog is lost on most west coasters. I have found that when I try to get worked up about a great hot dog and tell a friend about it they try to relate and say things like«Yeah… like the Costco Polish!»… or «OH! Wienerschnitzel has something like that, now with pastrami!». Someone recently went as far as to mention 7 – 11 big bites… Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing bad about any of the above mentioned places, but I see it as comparing a steak from Donovan’s to eating one at Sizzler! I bookmarked Diego’s awhile ago after reading the reviews and seeing a Unilocal chat thread about Sonoran Dogs — I have been looking for this style of hot dog for quite some time. I have had so many regional styles of hot dogs, but this one still eluded my taste buds! I was on a little motorcycle joyride and found myself in PB and took advantage of it by stopping into Diego’s. I was a bit apprehensive but was quickly reassured that I made the right choice. I got there early, they open at 11:30 during the week i think. I was on my cell telling my brother what I was about to eat as he has been on the same quest. I noticed that the owners were opening up the place and carrying fresh produce into the store! The store itself was clean and fresh with a beach vibe but nothing overbearing. One booth and many stools to sit at. Two TV’s and 94.9 radio playing in the background. I ordered the Sonoran dog and some rosemary fries. I spoke to the very nice lady as we discussed how i happened upon this place. She was very excited to oblige. Her husband had to go to the local grocery(again a plus to me!!) and happened back as i was finishing talking about dogs. The conversation was great as I suggested some great places to eat as they lived back east also and we seemed to have similar food experiences. Then I was served one of the greatest concoctions I have ever had. Please look up a sonoran dog on line, usually from the Tuscon AZ area, and then compare it to the picture I posted here… This must be the real deal. Again, being anal, their description on their menu did not mention mayo, and all descriptions I have seen have mayo. I asked about this and was told that they always offer it but find that many do not want it on the dog. Fair enough, and mine, of course, had it! I can honestly say that this is one of the best things I have ever tasted!!! The fries were good, filled with flavor and i enjoyed them — no ketchup needed, BTW. Then, I was given a small sample of the home made onion rings. I do not really like onion rings… I do not ORDER onion rings… UNTILNOW! If you like hot dog’s, please go here, pay for a quality filled product and enjoy. I will be back next week!

Stopped by for lunch the other day. Tasty stuff and good value! 6 bucks got me a cheddar bacon slider(The Red Rock) and generous helping of fries. The owner(Dave, I think) was chatty and had a fun east coast vibe. I am definitely going back hungry and getting a slider duo and the rosemary fries!
