Worst service I’ve ever received. The man working the window was so rude and short tempered. I felt awkward from the very minute he started talking to us. I ordered with no onions because I can’t stand onions and he started berating me and pointed at the sign that says any changes will be declined. Then he kept saying that he wanted to get people to like different things. Also he then went on to tell us that our groupon was expired but he would take it for us. He said it expired at 11:59 that day. I knew this wasn’t true since I’ve been using groupon for a long time. I showed him on our phone on the voucher where it states it was valid until 11:59 p.m. of that night and it was around 7 p.m. I guess he didn’t learn the difference between a.m. and p.m. He continued to argue that he was right and his attitude got worse. Horrible customer service. I asked for just name and told him I didn’t appreciate how rude he was and when I was getting in my car he started making faces mocking me to the next people he was helping. What a joke of an establishment. No where to eat so we ate in our car. The hot dogs were good but small and nothing special. I won’t be sad when this place goes out of business which it will soon.

This is the only hot dog place you should eat at west of the Hudson! If you’re from New York, or even been to New York, you know a good hot dog and what it should taste like. Snap and all. Well this place is bringing them to San Diego. I crave a good hot dog often, but never really get what I’m looking for out here in San Diego. I need that good snap like the Papaya Dogs in NY. This satisfies me and hits the spot so well. Like I said, the dogs are fantastic, but the owner makes it even better. Super friendly guy, got to talking and learned he moved here from Manhattan, and that he used to frequent Gray’s Papaya. That’s how you know he’s LEGIT! I asked if he had the push cart onion sauce, which he said he didn’t make, since most people in San Diego wouldn’t really know what it is. But what a great guy, he started making some for me on the spot! I had a Manhattan dog, and an «O» dog. My girlfriend also had an «O» dog. Both incredible. We loved it. Thank you for giving me the taste of NY I’ve been missing!

Absolute BEST hotdogs! The first time we went, we had a GROUPON. As I was going to show him, he said it was fine. Very trusting, I like that. I ordered two, the«O» and the Cubano hotdog. SUPERGOOD. I typically don’t like jalapenos, and asked if he could put them on the side. He told me if they are on the side that I wont eat them, which was pretty accurate. Lol. He said that there is not a lot and its just their for the flavor. MANWASHERIGHT! ITTASTEDWONDERFULLYGOOD ! I could hardly taste the jalapeño. My boyfriend ordered the Cubano, Chicago and I forgot the other one. He absolutely loved it ! It was early in the morning when we went. The owner noticed a man, smoking near his door and kindly asked him to leave. Then he continued to talk to my boyfriend and I. He is super cool and plays some good music ! You can catch him singing along sometimes. The second time we went(LATERTHATDAY), my boyfriend ordered 4 hotdogs and I ordered the same two. My boyfriend forced me out of bed to go get his hotdogs. Lol. Its really cheap too ! It may take him sometime to make them, since it is just him making them. Its his type of art. He takes every hotdog personally. He makes them absolutely awesome. Would, without a doubt, recommend this place!

I’ve frequented this place several times because their hotdogs are simply delicious. And I’m a person who normally doesn’t like hotdogs. The ingredients are fresh and the hotdogs are meticulously assembled. I know what you’re thinking — «it’s just hotdogs.» That’s what I thought, but this place whips out artisan hotdogs crafted with the utmost attention and detail. While I do enjoy the hotdogs here, I will say I’m somewhat torn because my last service left me a little salty. Service is a hit or miss depending on the owner’s mood. I want to chalk it up to him dealing with people all day, but hey, customer service is all part of the job. Here a couple things you need to know about Daddy’s to have a pleasant experience: — Cash only. There’s an ATM right across the street at Alibi. — Do not try and change the ingredients on the hotdog. Trust me, he will not oblige. Enjoy it for what it is because they’re all good, especially the«O.» — Only one Groupon per group. If he sees you rolling in as a group trying to use several Groupons, he will turn it down. I know from firsthand experience. — The store hours vary depending on the owner’s mood. Friday and Saturday nights are usually guaranteed to be open. To note: As for the size of the hotdogs, these are not bratwursts; these are average size hotdogs. I personally find these hotdogs to be the perfect drunken snacks.

Daddy’s dog stuffed me so full, I felt like I was going to explode. I didn’t think my body could take any more of his amazing dog, but then a second dog appeared, and I just had to have that one inside of me too. I almost burst right then and there.

You walk up to a window to place your order. There are no chairs or stools outside however there are 2 small tables that are annoyingly too close to the ordering and pick-up window. The guy who took my order was friendly and had my order ready in a fair amount of time. There is parking right out front, but it fills up quickly so getting a spot can be tricky. I’d definitely recommend just planning on getting your order to-go if you decide to eat here. Chicago Dog($ 4) — This dog has onions, tomatoes, relish, celery salt, yellow mustard, peppers and a pickle spear on it. The hot dog tasted decent, but it wasn’t anything special. The hot dog was split down the middle and cooked yet it had no char flavor and the only flavor came from the toppings. I did like the hot dog, it was just average tasting to me and nothing worth driving out of your way for. Decent little hot dog stand that’s good enough if you are looking for a quick bite and are already in the area.

Daddy’s keeps really weird hours, but the dogs there are always reliably delicious — i don’t mean«reliable» as in a shitty old car that you hate and is ugly but you still know is gonna get you to work every day, but«reliable» as in «i really want a quality hotdog rn that i know will be great and tasty no matter what i order». my favorite thing about this spot is that they, along with Lefty’s, have the only honest, authentic Chicago hotdog that i’ve ever had outside of Chicago. they also have other really unique things that i’d never previously have expected to see on a hotdog shop’s menu board… like one with sauerkraut and thousand island dressing, or cream cheese and garlic, or even mustard and raspberry — if you tell Daddy«make me something weird». i hit this place up at least once a week because it’s inexpensive and satisfying, and the guy’s always quick with a joke or funny shit-talk if you ask for something stupid on your dog — like ketchup. protip: don’t. ever.

Came here close to 11pm for a late snack with the family. It’s a small place, has a window you order/pick up from and a couple of tables(for standing only), good for take out or quick bite. There was lot of interesting hot dogs to choose from, so it was hard to choose. Just from listening to the owner(I assume he is) speaking to a customer about his hot dogs, he seems to be very serious about his hot dogs like a craft. I knew right away the hot dogs were going to be good. We ended getting 2 everything dogs and 2 plain dogs. The Everything hot dog was awesome! I don’t remember exactly what it had, but it had cream cheese, onions, sesame seeds, etc… it was all perfect together and the hot dog itself is so flavorful… My family and I would definitely return again for this hot dog and excited to try the other hot dogs.

I seriously try coming here several occasions. And the owner or manager gives me a long lecture on concept of time and stuff. All I ask is, what time you’re open. He gives me this snotty attitude. Look I’m just trying to figure out when I can buy a damn hot dog. Seriously he ask«you guys feel so entitled to following a set time. I’m open when I feel like it. When you see the sign as open, it’s open» OK fine I’ll eat down the road, you’re not open for my hungry post gym appetite. OK. This happened on 5 different occasions in the past 12 months. I give up.

Like someone had mentioned earlier, No real reason to go back. We decided to check it out only because I bought a GroupOn for four hotdogs. The owner was not friendly, seemed really fake with his pleasantness, and patronized me by repeating himself three times when it was my first time there and I wasn’t really sure how it worked. We ordered 2 of the Chicago Dogs(my favorite of 3), the Daddy Dog, and The O Dog(least favorite). They are surprisingly small and honestly the hot dogs at Costco are bigger, tastier, and cheaper. My friends and I left feeling unsatisfied and still hungry. Won’t be coming back; I’d rather make the short drive to Costco where customer service is a little better, food is cheaper, and there are seats/shade for me to enjoy myself.

This hot dog joint is located on the main street in north park. The counter to order and get food faces the street and sidewalk. The place is open pretty late so it can be a late night dinner joint or a pre-club grub shack. The hot dog costs 3 – 5 dollars so it can get quite expensive for hot dogs. A groupon definitely helps and is the only reason i’ll come back because the hot dogs are not that impressive for the price they charge. Size of the hot dog is average, about the size of a costco hot dog.

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Hillcrest. My boyfriend is one of the biggest lovers of hot dogs especially Chicago Style hot dogs. I’m pretty sure he ate it for a week straight a couple of weeks ago. William is serious about his hot dogs! He doesn’t let you add or take away anything from his creations. If you don’t want mustard too bad… His hot dogs are crafted very well no wonder it took about 5 minutes to make. He slices he hot dogs in half and meticulously puts all the toppings on top. We tried the Chicago dog which was good but the picky bf said it wasn’t as authentic because he doesn’t use sport peppers. The O was pretty good. Grilled onions, bacon Russian dressing, and fresh cut tomatoes. Cuban hot dog had just the right amount of cheese and ham. And did I mention how meticulous he was in making sure the cheese was very symmetrically laid on the ham? Not too bad for a deal with the groupon. $ 9.00 for 3 hot dogs. Come back again? For sure!

Where should I begin? Every hot dog I try from here is amazing. From the Chicago dog, to the bacon smothered with onion dog, to the onion, pepper, and mustard enchanted dog — oh baby they’re all delicious. Daddy does an excellent job at making everyone feel like family. He really drives the business and is a big part of why people come here. Make sure to say a big ol’ hello when you see him! :) He sincerely cares about his customers and his hot dogs. Make sure to stop by Daddy’s when you come to Hillcrest! I haven’t had a good hot dog in years and I highly recommend coming here. This beats the best ball park hot dog you’ll ever have. Ps. The later; the better :)

So I go up to Daddy’s Hot Dogs for the first time and look at the menu. Daddy(the owner) asks me «what’d like today?» I respond indecisively, «Ehhh…» and Daddy interrupts, «Ehhh what the fuck you want?» I knew at that moment, this was going to be a 5 star review. Easily one of the best hotdog joints I have ever been too. The menu at Daddy’s is very impressive. The quality is equally spectacular. If Daddy’s Hot Dogs isn’t a direct reflection of Hillcrest, I don’t know what is. Daddy is such a character and yet, he does everything to make sure you’ll enjoy what you order. Overall, I highly recommend coming here if your a hotdog fan, it’s that simple.

Great dogs at a good price. Perfect for late night snack on the way home. He has creative specials, vegan options and plain if that’s your preference. Always a fun crowd to watch in the neighborhood while you dig in! Best late night option in the area! Enjoy!
