Do NOT go here for a hair cut… No matter how desperately you need one and no matter how broke you are! The lady obviously has no clue what she’s doing. I almost walked out in the middle, but felt too bad for her. In the end, I reluctantly gave her $ 8, went home, and immediately gave myself a #3 buzz all over.

Wish I could leave a better review, but the experience(and the haircut) just weren’t very good.

Yeah, its kind of like if your grandma opened a barbershop in her living room. Daytime television was on and coffee was brewing. The cut cost $ 8 but the conversation was worth $ 100.

Didn’t listen to what I asked for. Just gave me a basic buzz cut. There were edges in my head, looked like the shape of the clippers. I had to come home and fix it myself with my own clippers. Never returning to this spot.

For $ 8, the Lady(it’s always the same lady, always) can make my hair look as good as any $ 25 haircut I’ve had. The place is old, I wouldn’t say dirty, just old, and kinda reminds me of my grandparent’s house. There are no free beers or lathered face shaves, but Judge Judy is usually on. The Lady is super nice(no sarcasm. She’s really nice to talk to. Ask how the neighborhood used to be), mostly listens to what I ask, and my hair comes out better for it(she’s told me I am wrong, and I shouldn’t do that). She’s really quick, I’m talking 10 minutes in-and-out, and there usually isn’t any waiting. SO, this might not be the best place to go if you want an «experience,» but if you are broke and need a haircut, I can’t imagine finding a better place.

The first time I went here she did an okay job for a $ 5 buzz cut, but when I got home I noticed she never brushed the hair off my head; it was stuck all over my forehead. She seems a little absent minded so whatever, can’t really complain for $ 5. So I went back yesterday and the same thing, but this time I asked her to brush off my head. She doesn’t even have one of those normal barbershop brushes with the fine, white hair. She started scrubbing my head with a brillo pad or something. Totally strange. When I got home there was still cut hair all over my head, in my ears, on my neck and she missed a few spots. The Barber College downtown is a dollar cheaper($ 4) and the students will give you a better haircut. Unreal.

I use Toni’s barber shop a bit and i appreciate it. Her prices are very en-expensive and fair and you get a very nice person as well!

Pros: inexpensive, very quick, no-nonsense local business. Cons: Not the cleanest place, not sure she was listening when I told her what I wanted. Overall I think I will go back, but not before a photo shoot or something(that is, if I ever am in a photo shoot). The haircut is okay, and with the quickness and price I am happy to support local business.

Ah, I’m torn as hell about this place. First off, let me just say, you get what you pay for. I’m walking by, in desperate need of a fresh cut. My hair is all over the place and I see this 5 dollar sign. I’ve got to admit, I’ve seen prices as low as 7 bucks but nothing like 5 dollars, so I walk in and sit down. There’s a weird little atmosphere in here. Halfway between an old closet and the living room of your grandma’s house. It just feels kinda dingy. It didn’t really bother me none or anything but if you’re a person who takes atmosphere seriously, this might not be your place. Anyways, on to the haircut. The lady was really nice and talkative. I definitely felt very comfortable sitting there. However, I started worrying when I felt the shaky hands cutting away. Oh well, i thought. My hair grows fast anyways. It can’t be too bad. Man… it looked like I was thrown head first into a lawnmower. Symmetry, what’s symmetry. I had patches of crab grass growin off the top of my dome like a whack lawn. Thank god I had a beanie… It was one of those haircuts that made your skull look lopsided. Quite an impressive illusion. It was one of the most regrettable cuts in my life, and yet I still feel tempted to go back. 1 star for the nice lady, and another star for the 5 dollar price…

Let my hair grow out for the first time in years and thought I would check out this haircut place around the corner from my house… At first I was a little nervous because the lady was a little on the older side and she had two customers who were on the old side as well… Felt like I walked in on a senior shop… Whatever I thought I just want a fade, my hair is short, she cant possibly mess up a fade… So I was finally up and I sat down nervously and ask for a high fade… My girfriend faded me up a week ago and did a good job but thought Id go to a proffesional since it was longer… She was very nice, very talkative and as a previous guy mentioned, It seems like was more focused on her conversation than the haircut… To my suprise, it looked good at the shop when she was done.(note: the lighting was horrible at one point she had to walk away to turn the lights on) so I walk home and check it out… She totally F’ed up on one side, it looked like my head was shapped funny… I almost wanna shave my head again but imma suck it up and wait another two weeks and go else where… I got what I paid for so I cant really give her one star, not bad for 5 bucks I guess and I still gave her a 5 dollar tip…

I just moved to SD and saw the sign advertising $ 5 buzz cuts so I went in. I’m usually not too picky about my hair and used to get $ 10 haircuts that were fine. I asked for a flat top but not too short on top. Well the woman, Toni, was very nice and talkative but she didn’t seem to take her job too seriously. I mean she was buzzing me with the clippers, talking and not even looking in the mirror to see if she was clipping me evenly. The whole haircut took less than 5 minutes. When I got home I noticed that she had totally missed a few spots and I had to do some repair work myself. Oh, well. I guess you get what you pay for sometimes.

5 $ for a haircut? It’s not like girls would like me more if I paid 100 $ for a haircut! I’m still single and still lonely but now I have a pretty decent 5 $ haircut and another 95 $ in my wallet
