I tried this place out over tajima due to the positive reviews. Big mistake. I’ve only been here once and won’t be returning. Ramen was average. Nothing special. It’s below average for sd standards

This is a little eatery tucked away in a strip mall next to a star bucks. Most people miss this place for lunch. I usually order their chicken combination plates. The chicken is always cooked to perfection and their portions are spot on for lunch. The combination meal has teriyaki chicken, veggie tempura, rice and miso soup. Not bad for a $ 7 and change. Try this place for lunch or happy hour. Enjoy!

My group decided to try this place out, and I had agreed especially after enjoying the other Chopstix location. There is a ton of parking compared to the other location, although it is pretty crowded as there are a number of other restaurants, and shopping stores in the same plaza. After finding a spot, we made it in and were seated promptly. The place seems smaller than their other location, but the room was brighter and more vibrant. I ordered the curry and mabo with chicken katsu, while my girlfriend decided to try their poke bowl. My food was a good amount and the price was quite decent just as their other location, although my mabo tofu was oversalted. My girlfriend also found her poke bowl quite mediocre and not very special. While the portions and price are good deal and comparable to the other location, I think this place loses out based on the taste of their food.

Date of visit: 1÷23÷2016 This was my parent’s first experience having real ramen and it turned out pretty good. Since the restaurant is located in a large shopping plaza, there was quite a bit of parking. Like a lot of restaurants, Saturday nights can be busy and we got there right before a major rush. When I walked in, I put my name on a waiting list that the staff didn’t seem to look at. Then, they assumed I was with the guy behind me, who also put his name down, but since he had a bigger party, my family was seated first. This was kind of confusing, but the staff was really nice throughout the entire experience, although a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people coming in. Note that my review only covers their hot menu items. We decided to skip the sushi since it was a cold night and I was still trying to recover after a cold. Since it was near dinner time, it took quite a while for our meals to come out, but the gyoza came out almost immediately, which was really nice. The waitress told us that a lot of people decided to also order soup, which was the reason for the delay. It was nice to know why the wait for food was so long. Age Gyoza. These are deep fried dumplings that were just okay. Definitely not my favorite, but good for an appetizer. Since I was sick, the oily residue didn’t sit well with me, but my Dad and Cam really liked them. Tempura Udon with Chicken. If I could go back in time, I would just get the tempura udon by itself. The chicken was a little overwhelming in my bowl and I wasn’t a fan of the fish cake or mushrooms, although my Dad was happy to have those added to his ramen. Chicken Katsu Entrée. I really wanted a salad, so I told Cam to order the entrée since it comes with a miso soup and salad. I thought that the miso soup was great — it wasn’t one of those cheap add water mixtures, but had excellent flavor. However, the salad was really disappointing and didn’t include any dressing. I tried the chicken katsu, and it was pretty typical for chicken katsu, so no complaints there. My Mom got tonkatsu ramen, while my Dad got the tempura ramen. I didn’t try either of their dishes, but they both really liked the ramen. It’s definitely an upgrade from the instant ramen that they usually eat. My Mom thought that her tonkatsu broth was a little too salty, but my brother really loved her leftovers, so it’s really up to personal tastes. I probably won’t come back here unless I’m in the area looking for sit down service at a restaurant. This was one of the reasons we came to Chopstix as Santouka is more of a cafeteria style restaurant and I wanted my parents to feel more comfortable.

Came the other day with my home boy from church. Got the salmon and spicy tuna roll combo plate. The salmon was very nicely grilled, but highlights end there. The spicy tuna roll wasnt spicy at all and the salad was underseasoned. The miso soup was mediocre. Definitely a place to come to for a quick affordable lunch if you really craving that sushi. 3⁄5 for affordability and good salmon.

Ordered the Mixed Tempura and the Chicken Katsu Curry. Waited about 45 minutes for my food and when I got home, I was very disappointed. The Katsu Curry wasn’t as tasteful as I was hoping it to be. Probably not the best I’ve had before. The tempura was a bit soggy since I took it to-go. However, the potato was still hard and the shrimp was mushy. I’m not a real picky eater and is very easily satisfied but I was very disappointed. Got a lot for the price but I wouldn’t go back for the same thing. Maybe take another chance and try something different. Who knows.

Where is the six star on Unilocal?if they have it, ill definitely hit it. I was in there a few days ago with my friends, it seemed a little busy. the server was really nice and kind to us even they were busy. And we ordered couple of dishes, it was poke salad, mabo curry katsu and mabo Udon, To be honestly, Mabo curry and Salad was the best that I have ever. salad was really fresh and delicious, even I was really satisfied with the price. I’d recommend that food that I had. as far as I know that restaurant, there is nothing that a food $ 10 over. I will definitely come back soon!!! Overall, a fantastic meal!!!

Came here instead once we found out that Chopstix on Convoy was closed for New Year’s Day. As we were seated, I noticed that the seats that weren’t a booth were really close together. I felt like we were all eating together. There wasn’t even a foot of space between the tables. Even if the place wasn’t busy and there was ample seating, they still seated us cramped up with other customers. I was really hungry so we ordered fast. Once we got our waters our waiter just plopped them down and threw some straws on the table. I got the champon men and the boyfriend got tonkotsu ramen. Both had no flavor. I was fairly disappointed. The champon men is huge, I could barely finish it, but even then I didn’t finish it because it just wasn’t worth it. When we were done eating we sat there for a good 10 mins. We made it obvious that we were done and wanted our check, but no one came up to check on us, not even during the meal. We were passed by several people many times, and were ignored. People who came in after us left before us, even if they were done the same time we were. Eventually we just ended up getting up ourselves and paying at the counter. Really, really disappointed in this establishment compared to Chopstix on Convoy. Always have the best food and service at Convoy. Convoy is more efficient, friendly, and consistent. Would not recommend this place to anyone unless they have no taste buds.

Been here twice in the last couple weeks, while visiting my mom. Was in the area and wanted to grab a quick inexpensive dinner. I ordered the calamari or ika katsu bowl and the next time around ordered the chicken katsu bowl. Their food is so good and they always serve the yummy Japanese rice.

About the same as Chopstix on Convoy except it’s more spacious inside and parking isn’t much of a problem. Although, I still prefer the one on Convoy over this location. My friend and I were sat down at the back, but after we ordered and got our drinks the waiter had us move to a different seat to fit a large party where we were sitting initially. It kinda bugged me at first since we were both settled in, but we ended up preferring the new booth we sat at also because it was nicely lit for pictures. They offer the same menu but I believe this location is more expensive. I had to get my usual tonkatsu curry and it was a dollar more expensive from what I remember. They also messed up my order and didn’t give me the curry so I had to let them know about that. I was pretty disappointed with the presentation because I liked how at the Chopstix on Convoy — the entreé, miso soup, and salad comes in a tray whereas here they give everything to you separately(as seen from my photos). The curry was also missing the meat I’m used to at the original location as well as the katsu sauce that I love. But the serving was huge as usual and I still left satisfied. My friend got the crunch roll special which was $ 4.95 for 5 pieces which was not bad especially since the rolls were big. She also got the chirashi bowl but it could’ve been bigger for the price. Like maybe a little more rice since it was all sashimi and that alone would be expensive at other places. As for ambiance the place looked very clean and cozy. The waiter was very responsive to us, but the waitress could show a little more emotion when serving us. Overall, I still prefer the Chopstix on Convoy.

First off If I can zero stars for this I would. I came here because I ridiculously hungry. I ordered a salmon skin which wasn’t crispy and the vegetables in it were soft. It is suppose to crunchy and crispy. Later as I waited I ordered a spicy tuna roll. One, it was too spicy and the tuna and spicy mix was slimy. The last thing I ordered was chicken katsu curry. The katsu is dry and also soggy. And the curry tasted like they boiled a instant bag of already made curry that you can purchase at Mitsuwa across the way. Overall the food was not good and I would recommend to anyone.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while as I’ve eaten at Chopstix Too a number of times and am just now getting to it. The atmosphere is family oriented yet there are TV’s to watch a game and draft Sapporo’s are cheap. I mostly go at lunch when I’m in the area and the service has always been good. I’ve been in the restaurant during lunch rush when every single seat is taken and my order has always been brought out pretty quickly. Lots of choices on the menu, traditional Japanese fair, e.g. Teriyaki, Curry, Udon, and some delicious speciality sushi rolls, my favorites are the GoGo Roll and Kaboom. The Ramen… Champomen is awesome. You get a huge bowl that I can hardly finish. I still need to try the others. For dessert, standard fare of green tea and mochi ice cream like other Japanese places but… this place has something truly special, Tempura Ice cream! It’s green tea ice cream and cake deep fried with chocolate syrup and whipped cream — delicious!!!

I wanted something fresh and healthy for dinner. So, I stopped in here figuring on getting some miso soup and maybe some California rolls. I ordered take out. Well, their menu talked me into having a crunchy roll, chicken salad, and soy beans for just under $ 7. The crunchy rolls were very loosely rolled and crumbled when I tried to eat them. The sauce all over them was ok, and this sushi was over all pretty bad. The chicken salad came without any salad dressing and the chicken was dry and lacked any flavor. This item was also bad. The soy beans were decent. I ate most of them. I would not eat here again

We had a foodie fest yesterday at work and i ordered their deep fried gyoza and the chicken katsu bowl. I love the fact that they have the brown rice option and i like how they have broccoli mixed together with the chicken and some sauce and more veggies. My gyoza was suppose to be ok except that their sauce spilled inside the container; they need to have a better sauce cover so the gyoza’s won’t get soaked and soft instead of crispy. The taste was just fine, it was a good choice for the day.

This is my bf’s & my cheap go-to restaurants since we started dating. And I’m very disappointed with this restaurant… I would have given them a one star, but the food was delicious. Yesterday, I was so busy with school & work. Did not eat all day except for drinking some water. So, the donkatsu ramen was the first & last thing I ate that day. It tasted amazing, maybe because I was starving & happy to see hot food in front of me. My bf ordered chicken curry bowl. He is the type to finish all of his food but he left half un-touched. He said he is disappointed because the curry was over filled with carrots & tiny bits of chicken. Carrots over power smell & taste. Next time, he’ll order chicken katsu curry instead of the bowl. On the other hand, I personally don’t like chicken, so I enjoyed eating some of his curry. It was delicious, not gonna lie. This morning & still am suffering from a really terrible stomach pain. I was literally crying in my bathroom calling my man not knowing what’s wrong with my body. After 20minutes of agonizing pain, I threw up & had several horrible #2s. Still am… The donkatsu ramen & some curry was the only thing I ate yesterday. I also remember why I stopped coming here. Food is delicious & their price is reasonable. But! Their ramen gives me the worst pain. Idk if I’m allergic to something but it’s always the ramen from here. My bf remember me dying in the bathroom last time. I hate how their food is so good but the afterwards is a terrible experience. This was the one of the worst pain I’ve ever felt this year. I’m just hoping that I am not food poisoned… Let’s just hope that it’s a one day thing… ugh!!!

Ah i really wanted to like this place but it was a hugeeee disappointment. Seating areas are nice and service is all right. The food was what the problem was. Got the sesame chhicken entrée– very not satisfied. Got the lemon roll and albacore roll– not fresh at all. Its as if they had taken the frozen fish and like thawed it right then and there. The ramen was all right. I wouldnt recommend…

I stopped by with a few friends the other night and was happy to see the prices be pretty comparable with Sushi Deli. However, I was kind of disappointed with the teriyaki chicken I ordered. The chicken was dry and the teriyaki was super sweet. However, the crunch roll was pretty delicious. I think I would come back because it is pretty cheap(with tax and tip, I walked out with paying $ 9 for a combo meal). Service was okay because my water cup was empty during the last half of my visit.

I came here with my boyfriend & his family last week. We came 20 minutes before they closed & they had half of their chairs put away. They sat us but forgot to give us menus. Nonetheless, our waitress was sweet & did not rush us to order. We ordered: Katsu Don — Typically, Katsu Don comes with egg but they do not serve it with egg here. Tempera Udon — Their udon is good! The broth is flavorful & it came with 2 tempura shrimp. Spicy Ramen — Good & not too spicy. Tonkotsu Ramen — I love their Tonkotsu broth & all the toppings that came with!

I stopped on Chopstix after dropping of me rental and picking up my personal car and ordered an ice cold Sapporo draft for $ 3, a pint, the Chicken Katsu appetizer at $ 6, and the California Red Roll for $ 7.95. The Chicken Katsu was good and came with a small undressed garden salad on the side. It took me a while to realized the salad dressing was already on the table in those squeeze bottles with the narrow tips. The katsu had a good crunchy exterior, it was a little bland but had good color and coated the chicken well. The chicken inside was tender for the most part. I few pieces had a little cartilage but not much. The California Red Roll was okay. It suffered from to much watery Krab mixture inside the roll. The tuna on the outside was good, and so was the creamy avocado outside and inside, but the small amount of cucumber inside could not provide enough texture the roll needed, given the high amount of watery Krab. Service was very good. In fact, the lady who served me was very nice and check up on me a number of times.
