Came here while out with a friend and wanted to relax after a night of dancing and drinking. Here is why they are getting one star:
Rude owner: he not only hustles people for a hefty $ 10 cover but is constantly running after people threatening to kick them out and telling them they can’t dance or be loud. Perhaps they shouldn’t play loud hip hop music and invite that type of ambiance? He’s a big big meany babysitter… At a staggering 3 feet (so he’s short).
Ridiculous prices: $ 55 for a hookah that was not hat good… Sorry, it was awful. No way it can be justified… But there I was…
Security: I have never witnessed such power tripping goons at the front door. There is a fine line between using enough authority and brute force. I am pretty sure the way they handle people is illegal. Stay clear from he entrance…
Overall, I think this place is trying to make a quick buck since they are in the heart of downtown. Complete disregard for people and the safety of others. If you enjoy… Girls shaking their ass because they think they’re in a Ludacris rap video, getting manhandled with excessive force, and getting trapped with cover that is a joke only to spend 3 times or more once inside this asylum run by a bafoon of an owner– then you are probably crazy and should consider taking my advise… Please– don’t be that person.

Worse place ever absolutely disgusting!!! Staff was rude and the place was falling apart, seats were completely ripped tables had trash everywhere when we tried to get out cover charge back they refused even though we had only been there for 30 seconds… Do not ever consider going here.

Expensive & not even worth it. Went on a Sunday night around 11:30 pm because it was one of the few places open, no cover charge like the other reviewers. Their hours said until 2 am but they took our hookah away at midnight and said they were closing. Music’s craazzyyy loud but it’s good hip hop. It was like $ 35 for the hookah plus $ 10 for the pineapple they put on top. Got a margarita and it was the tiniest little cup for $ 10. Really not worth it. I didn’t really like the girl that was helping us but another worker Leo was a pretty cool and super helpful.
Also, the bathrooms were trash. Pee all on the floor.
The toilet seat was on the ground and all the girl did was place it back on. No disinfecting it or anything. So I used the men’s room because the girls room also didn’t lock or even shut all the way.

Within the first 5 min of entering the lounge I spent over $ 50. I was then severed THE WORST bowl I have ever smoked which was 35 $. When I asked for a new bowl they said they were going to charge me for a new bowl. I’m not one to send things back or complain. This is my first Unilocal review and I would never ever ever come back here.

Hello underage drinking… since I have been in San Diego this always have been the place to go when you aren’t old enough to drink. occasionally you will see decent looking females but they always have a childlike mentality so don’t count on hunting here leave your gun at home. OK I’m gonna get to the point why this place is getting the rating it’s getting first off the hookahs are very pricey and secondly they tend be very weak and burnt out very quickly and one last thing the wait for a hookah takes a while so bring your own personal to keep you occupied during the mean time.

This place has the best music, a lot of current hip hop southern and west coast. But if you come on a Saturday finding a table is impossible and it’s really unorganized. The customer service from the staff is terrible and extremely slow. once you order they take about 40 mins to bring it you so you’ll only have a little time to actually smoke before it closes so you might want to come before 10pm. Other than that location is great parking was easy but staff is terrible. Good place to go if you have nothing to do and don’t mind spending money.

They’re overpriced and don’t give to their customers. All of our friends (15 of us went in) they charged us $ 10 each and told us to leave. They’re such a joke. Even when I had a heart to heart with the owner, he told me that it’s not his problem that we paid. Coming as a small business owner myself I can see why they don’t make a whole lot of business. Avoid them at all cost.

wow this place is something else. somewhere between the hole in the wall, the broken toilet seat, and the duct taped painted tables you will find a server offering items more expensive then the special prices listed above the bar. good thing the only thing I’m paying for tonight is a tetanus shot.

Casablanca is one of the worst places i’ve ever been in San Diego, its definitely a NO GO!
The owner of the lounge is a short man, who has a TERRIBLE attitude and you can tell right away that he doesn’t know how to handle his business.
Violent ambiance
My group and I were waiting for a friend of ours right outside this place and as soon as she got there we ordered an über, were waiting for it when security guards told us to move from the sidewalk. We told them the über was about to arrive so we were just waiting 5 more minutes on the sidewalk (on a public space) rather than on the street. When my sister said she was not moving because we were going to get the über confused he told her «b!*ch”(a security guard) a person in my group got upset and told him to calm down so they just went crazy and starting pushing us. I have a huge bruise in my foot and marks on my arm.
The owner came out drunk and punched one of the people in my group without knowing what was happening. Its so sad to know that an older person who already owns a business doesn’t know how to act professional. I’ve heard from close friends that this is not the first time they act that way.
That place is not worth it. There are a thousand options on where to go if your visiting. And if you are not visiting… you know that this place isn’t an option.
Be careful, be safe and don’t drink and drive. Remember that there are lots of people drunk in the streets, unfortunately and in this case, the owner was one of them.
Enjoy San Diego, we do have amazing things here!

Great environment and music. Hookah is great. But the down side is don’t get too drunk and also read your receipt. The girl with the tattoos will take your card and over charge you.

The environment was fun,
but the music was so loud my group couldn’t really converse at all.
Prices are really high and the fact that there was a cover charge to get in was a no-​go!
The bathroom was horrid, and you can’t dance.
Total rip off, we gave it a chance but never again will we be coming back.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Staff is so rude! The white girl at the door is so rude and not friendly unless you personally know her then she’s all jumping hugging on them! Then our waitress kept trying to charge us extra for the drinks. Over all the staff sucks and if you value your money don’t come here!

Today was about my best friend. That server and the bartender were great! The date is July 12^th, 2015 and the security told US we could not dance … Just because he broke a and was smoking a hookah next to the bar by the end of the bar. But they might not have cameras. There is not dance sign, there is nothing around that said I could not dance and he was disrespectful he said their is no dancing allowed, he is drunk because I can smell the alcohol, I also see him drinking, his name I do not know he is a security high low taper, fat (no discrimination) and chased customers away. This use to be my favorite place because of Jose the bartender. But I am done and rejecting this place due to this service. Security is about 200 pounds, short hair and is working tonight. Not coming back due to racism.

I came to CasaBlanca for a whole a weekend & I really enjoyed it. The staff is amazing and friendly, My servers name is Terry & she made My experience wonderful. It was really busy the weekend I had went but yet the staff met my needs and I highly recommend coming here. If you come here, ask for Terry to be your server if you come !

HORRIBLE! Let me start with the CONS of this place when I came on a Saturday night, and there are A LOT: THEY CHARGE A $ 10 COVER, for what? The crowd who comes here is straight from El Cajon. Once I got in, all I saw were trannys at the bar, or over the top drunk dudes trying to «hollar» at girls. My buddy was bumped in the face by this amazon girl who didn’t even watch where she was going. It became more entertaining than anything. There is no space either, as most of the place is a hookah bar. I can’t stress how bad this place was. Look at the other reviews! This place should be closing soon, wishful thinking but they should still close, or move to Lakeside. Drew, OUT!

Casablanca is located on fifth ave in the middle of downtown San Diego. The admission is free before the crowds come in or $ 10 once the place gets packed. The bathrooms are ungodly and they don’t always serve food but the music is up to date hip hop and the atmosphere chill. They play all the club bangers. The hookah feels like it last forever and the drinks actually have alcohol in them. This place would be totally perfect if they had a dance floor but it doesn’t. Still an absolutely cool place to start the party before headed to the club or just chill and catch a football game. I love the sex on the beach hookah for $ 25. Great price and great service. I didn’t have to ask for coals they saw them going out and replaced them. I wish I remembered out cute little services name because she was very sweet and handled all our request timely.

DO NOT GO HERE!
I went back in June with a group. They require a credit card and drivers license to hold the table so I gave the waitress mine. At the end of the night we all paid our portions in cash. The next morning I checked my bank statement to see they swiped my card as well as took our cash. It’s now basically October and after speaking with the owner and manager they still have not given me my credit card refund. I would give them negative stars but that’s not an option! And the bank was no help either bc I need to provide a cash receipt for payment. Go somewhere else so you don’t get ripped off for double payment! They need to get shut down wonder how many other people got ripped off like this.

I only came here because my friend had a nephew that was under 21 and we needed a place to leave him at. BELIEVE ME, I read the reviews and made commens here and there to not come here. This place ruined my buzz
The ratchet server with tattoos all on her chest failed to tell me this was a NO HARD LIQUOR BAR and I ordered cranberry vodka and in reality was a cranberry soju vodka which cost 10 $
NEVER EVER AGAIN.
