Troy L. Merrill Can Do Roofing s a crooked as they come. I had to take him to work twice, once for fraud in 2008, then in 2009 for passing a bad check. I hired him for my client. He put pressure on me for immediate payment and then collected the same fee from my client. It was an open and closed case, but took years to collect.

We had a great experience with this company. Their prices were very fair and the work was done quickly and with great quality. They offered a great warranty and were very easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend this roofing company to anyone.

Can do roofing did a fantastic and professional job on my roof in OB. The quote was a bit higher than the others but the workmanship was much better than the last roofing job that was done on the house. Importantly, there was attention to detail and an ability to deal with unexpected eventualities without altering the quote, e.g. they did more work than they thought and didn’t complain about it or pass on a fee for extra services. I would absolutely use these guys again, but then again based on their workmanship I doubt I will have to have a new roof or skylight anytime soon. Big thumbs up!

Perhaps it is because our house is in Spring Valley that the service we received from Can-​Do-​Roofing was different than that received by the other reviewers. We used Can-​Do-​Roofing because they were highly recommended by a family member who was pleased with the job they did on his house. I should mention that he is retired and was home to monitor the work as it progressed. In our case, the final bill was roughly 60% higher than the original estimate. Kind of shocking since we weren’t told during the process that the crew had encountered anything unexpected. I believe all of the work was done by sub-​contractors.
The roofing we chose is dark brown. The main roof appears to be done well. Our house has two areas of roofing that do not have enough pitch for shingles and therefore required some type of rolled roofing. They used WHITE because, the owner said, it didn’t show! He came back and painted the one small roof area that is visible from the road. The other, a large span that shades an upper balcony, is still white and visible from neighbors’ yards above. Very tacky.
The owner also came back to do some patchwork on the fascia boards that were installed poorly.
Included in this job were gutters and downspouts. Again, subcontracted. Some areas done very well, others beyond shoddy.
The owner was going to come back to do other work that was discussed. It’s been a year. Frankly we don’t want anything to do with him or his company.

Can-​Do-​Roofing is fantastic, I could not be happier with the quality of the work and the service that we received from them. We had five bids on our roof, we went with Can-​Do because Troy (the owner) clearly knew more about roofs and roofing than the other four contractors combined. Once they removed the old roof on our house, there was a lot more rotten wood than anybody had anticipated. No sweat, Troy showed up in person at 7 a.m. every day that week, rolled up his sleeves, and worked alongside his crews. He was still up there at 6 p.m. after his workers had left for the day. Despite the extensive and unexpected rot damage, Can-​Do still got it done on schedule.
Our house was built in the ’50’s, we have exposed beams on our ceiling and there is no insulation anywhere. It’s a nice look, but the old roof would heat up and then cook the inside of the house like a convection oven. It would be 75 degrees outside and our thermostat would read 85+ inside the house. The other roofing contractors pitched various types of insulation and foam spray to combat the heat build-​up. Can-​Do proposed and installed a space-​age «radiant barrier» that reflects heat instead of absorbing it like traditional insulation. Sounds funny, but it’s cooled the interior of the house down 7 – 8 degrees with all the windows closed and with the A/​C off. With the windows open and ceiling fans on, it’s much more comfortable and have not run the A/​C since the new roof went up.
The end product was great and the level of service we received is a rarity these days. Troy was very responsive to our questions and concerns, very competent, and a super nice guy to boot. I have a picture of him doing somersaults in the grass with my two-​year old. I’d recommend Can-​Do to anyone, even if you don’t hire them they can give you repair tips and expert advice about your roof.
