If you have a sweet tooth, this place will definitely satisfy it. Gelato, crepes and Belgium waffles all in one place. Also have smoothies and teas that will quench your thirst on any day. Parking in the area can get busy(i know because I work at the tattoo shop a few doors down) but people are always in and out so it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Nice place to end the night with something sweet after dinner. Definitely check it out

I wanted to love Café Hue. I really did. Gelato, crepes, waffles, coffee and milk tea?! These are what dreams are made of! But unfortunately, my experience ultimately fell short of my expectations.(Perhaps my expectations were set too high based on previous Unilocal review? Who knows.) Since I hadn’t had dinner when we arrived, we decided to order one savory and one sweet. So we settled on a turkey crêpe and a peanut butter waffle with coffee gelato. Since the first savory crêpe on the menu was called«Ham, Egg and Cheese», I made the mistake of assuming the«Turkey Breast» crêpe would be filled with similar ingredients with a different protein. But no… my crêpe consisted of a sliver of turkey, spinach, avocado and lettuce. LETTUCE. Imagine cutting into a warm, delicious crêpe and having warm, wilted lettuce peek out. Gross. I ended up ripping the crêpe apart to dispose of the lettuce(which ended up comprising 50% of the dish), and picked at the remains of turkey and crêpe. What a letdown. Now onto the peanut butter waffle. Honestly, I thought it alright — not too bad, but nothing to write home about. It was just a Belgian waffle with some Skippy(yes, we saw her make it) and a scoop of gelato on top. Having read all these amazing comments about Café Hue’s waffles and gelato, my boyfriend and I were very underwhelmed. We ended up going to Palomino’s for some TJ tacos so that our trip to Clairemont wouldn’t be a waste. So fear not… the night wasn’t ruined. But we certainly won’t return to Café Hue.

Nutella Waffle with Speculoos Gelato — Good! The waffle is fluffy & they spread a generous amount of Nutella. Unfortunately, not enough Speculoos which was incredibly good! I will drive back for the gelato alone. I wished I had asked where they had purchased it because I have not seen Speculoos sold as gelato. I am craving another scoop just writing this review. They also serve crepes & drinks. Board games available.

What makes me come to Café Hue? The first time I came in was like 3 – 4 years ago and what dragged me there was their gelato. However, after that I found out that they also serve desserts, like waffle, crêpe, and also boba milk tea. I’ve tried their gelato and crêpe only. Their Nutella crêpe is like a drug to me whenever I go there. I mostly always have to get it and not to forget, I need to add 1 scoop of gelato too on top of the crêpe. It was Thursday night when I came here and I was quite shocked that they were quite short staffed because who would expect that there were so many customers coming in? Anyway none of the staffs was laid back at all; everyone did his/her best to serve every customer. I decided to get the crêpe to go this time, and apparently they packed their gelato separately, which is great so that it didn’t melt all the way on top of the crêpe. As always, their Nutella crêpe is tasty! Yum! I’m looking forward to going back when I have a chance as I live in Chula Vista…

I’m glad I bookmarked this place and checked it out while I was in San Diego! The staff was very friendly despite me being a noob and not knowing what to order, haha. They were also very quick when preparing mine and my boyfriend’s food even though there was quite a handful of customers. I noticed there were only three girls working(maybe there were some in the back? But I didn’t see anyone else during my time there) and these girls did register, made the food, made drinks, cleaned tables, etc. and everything seemed to be running so smoothly! I’ve seen a lot of places crumble down to understaffing but these employees knew what they were doing. I got the white chocolate waffle with marshmallow and speculoos ice cream and it was AMAZING! I loved their ice cream choices and it killed me to only limit myself to two! But marshmallow ice cream? I’ve never seen any place with marshmallow ice cream anywhere else with the exception of Stacked in their milkshakes… My boyfriend ordered a Mixed Fruit crêpe and it was stuffed! It never lacked anything and was even filled with a custard or something. Then we ordered a Jasmine Milk Tea with boba since it was said to be cheaper if you order food. However, when we got our drink it was just a normal Milk Tea. But still, we were so impressed with the food and service that we realized it was nothing to get really mad about. Plus we do love our classic milk teas! Next time i’m in San Diego i’ll be sure to stop by again with my friends!

While visiting San Diego from San Francisco with my girlfriend we couldn’t find any good asian fueled cafés like we have at home. We needed something good to hit our sweet spot but then like a miracle we came across Hue Café! We loved all the gelato options and decided to get one of their waffle choices because you get a drink for $ 2.50(a deal we couldn’t pass up). Within a few minutes our order was ready and I’ll tell you; it looked like a masterpiece and beautifully plated. The drink I got(taro milk tea w/boba) however… Wasn’t to much to my liking. I mean, I didn’t hate it but it was just lacking. I’ve had milk tea from many places and it kinda just tasted like powder and milk. The waffle was great and so was the gelato and it definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere is what is expected from a place this: from loud 20-somethings to studying folks. Great and friendly service, fun environment and dessert quality you’d expect gives this place a solid 4 out of 5 in my book.

Still the home of my favorite crêpe! I had Hue’s coffee crêpe with coffee gelato and also tried the cinnamon caramel waffle. Crêpe was well made — thin and with that nice crispness to the edges but softer in the middle. Cream filling is fluffy and light, and the crushed up cookie wafers add a nice crunchy contrast. Definitely recommend getting some kind of gelato to really complete the crêpe. I would definitely have this again and again! Waffle was crispy on the outside but still moist on the inside. Cinnamon flavor was good but caramel flavor could have been stronger. Clean café and friendly staff. Cool place to chill with friends. Decently priced. Can add up quickly though if you add on multiple scoops of gelato since each scoop costs $ 1.50 for a relatively small scoop.
