I took my family to eat here(wife and two kiddos). A co-worker had recommended me to try it. Tried the 3 piggies and cheesy garlic burger and was amazed by the taste. A must try! Customer service was out of this world. Great, friendly, and warm place to eat. Definitely will be going back… San Diego needs more places like this! Everything is from local farms to your table!

Had the south of da border. Burger cooked perfectly medium. Generous toppings. Only downside is burger was woefully under seasoned. Seemed like no salt & pepper.

Solid burger joint. Right next door to the Best Western off Hotel Circle South. Pick up order for work lunch was quick and painless(15 minutes). Had the all about garlic burger. Good portion size for the burger patty. Only one minor mistake was one order labled wrong. Had to stare at the burger to realize it wasn’t mine. Other then that friendly service and good food.

Totally delicious burgers and really nice service. I got my burger protein style and the lettuce was actually really good– usually the lettuce is abysmal and I just end up eating the meat and toppings. Not here! And the garlic fries were amazing as well! Totally recommend. Don’t let the location/appearance fool you!

Stopped in starving, afraid it was just a hotel restaurant. Turns out its a super legit beer and burger place. Draft list had five brews when I was there, all lovingly curated. Server and manager were pleasant and knowledgeable. I was hoping for average and found awesome. We had a split basket of garlic fries and onion rings. Also tried the burgers. Basically just excellent at every turn. Even the house secret sauce(tangy pink mayo of some sort) was on point. I’ll have to stop off soon and try a shake unless it’s happy hour(3p to 6p for cheap beer, wine, and«cocktails»). The only possible issue is that they don’t have a liquor license as of this moment so their mixed drinks are soju, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I enjoyed everything. The garlic fries are so good. Plus our server was awesome. The next time I’m in San Diego, I will be coming back.

Bunz is a solid burger joint that looks like a diner stuck inside a lower end hotel… But it works! They have roughly 9 – 11 burgers to choose from, plus salads, hot dogs, sandwiches, and breakfast till 11 and takeout. They serve as much locally sourced ingredients and the beer is all from local breweries as well. Our server Anne or Anna was very helpful and very understanding of the mess we made(and by «we,» I mean my 1 year old). The burgers were large and cooked to order. There were plenty of toppings though I was surprised I didn’t see any with avocado available. I also didn’t see much customization available. The fry servings I thought were pretty paltry too. My salmon sandwich was delicious but I was hoping for a chunk of salmon filet; instead it was a salmon cake, like a crab cake, which makes me question how fresh or local the salmon was. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant if you love burgers; but I wish that they would allow more customization beyond the meat and the bun types.

This is a great place and their food is excellent. There are so many options that you can do to dress up your food in many different ways. I ordered the All American Classic Cheeseburger with an Angus Beef Patty. I also ordered a side of onion rings. It comes with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, house sauce and pickled chips. I asked for NO pickled chips on mine. The beef patty was excellent and came from a nice hot grill and was a made to order cheeseburger that made it extra nice and special. I added Swiss cheese which next time I would prefer American Cheddar Cheese. I also asked for a Brioche bun that was perfectly round and had a nice toasty crispness. The red onion gave it a nice kick while the tomato was seasoned with salt and pepper perfectly. The ketchup gave it a rich and sweet flavor while the mustard mixed in it gave it a tangy flavor that balanced well with the sweetness from the ketchup and came together as a whole. How can you go wrong with both ketchup and mustard mixed together? Here you can’t. The lettuce had a bright green colorful look to it. The All American Classic ~ IS A WINNER! I loved mine so much and if you want an All American Classic… I recommend this burger to anyone and if you are near this area this is a good place to stop. The onion rings were a generous size, were really crunchy and when you took a bite the onion stays put and the onion was nice and sweet. See you soon!

So, we were craving burgers and decided to choose amongst our burger bookmarks! It was between balboa bar & grill(def going there next), habit, and here. This place was in SD reader as one of the«best» burgers. Hmmm. in our opinion it was pretty underwhelming. Expected much more :/ Don’t know if it was the bun or the meat or just everything all together?! But regardless, not anywhere near a best burger. We ordered a chorizo N chile, smoked bacon, & the chili cheese fries. The fries were probably the best part of our meal. Also made the mistake of ordering their over-priced beers! Oh well. I can definitely see if I was a tourist or staying at the hotel– this place is just a few steps away, but won’t go out of our way to come here again. Sorry Bunz, but your Bunz sucked.

Always been wanting to come here for quite a while. Finally got a chance eat here. I ordered the Tijuana hot dog. It was good, but certainly not the best. This place is hidden in a motel near mission valley. I think next time I will definitely order a burger, since they are known for burgers. The prices are good especially for the quality of the food. I honestly thought prices were going to be insane, but it was fairly decent. The waitress was very nice and informative. This place is definitely for kids. It was crowded at all, so the chefs in the back definitely took time to perfect our food. I would come back here to taste the greatness of the other burgers and hot dogs they have.

I really don’t like leaving reviews for less than 4 stars, but I gotta keep it real. We stayed at the Days Motel and stopped here for dinner that night and breakfast the next morning. Dinner-Good Breakfast– Not good Service– Decent DINNER: This place has the right idea about its burgers. You start off with your choice of patty and then you pick the rest, bacon and bleu, mushroom and swiss, etc. The burger and fries were yummy. The dinner service was pretty good and our waitress was friendly. I ordered the Bloody Maria and my mom ordered a Margarita. They do no have a blender so it is all on the rocks. The Bloody Maria was not good at all. It tasted super watery, like diluted chili powder and water with some olives in it. I would recommend that they just get a good mix or a couple of mixes and go from there. Olives are great, maybe a piece of celery. If you’re going to have a Bloody Mary, make it a house special. Breakfast: I was really disappointed with breakfast. It is my pet peeve when they aren’t on top of their coffee game, and these guys could have been more on it The reason for my disappointment was the food itself. I ordered the veggie omelette and was trying to substitute egg whites and fruit as my side which was going to cost $ 2 extra apiece. $ 2 to take away the yolk? $ 2 extra to add fruit? The omelette itself tasted like it came out of the microwave with a store bought slice of cheese on top. It was pretty flavorless. I will not be back to this place, unfortunately.

I didn’t think I was going to like this place especially since they’re attached to the Days Inn we were staying at and not having a great stay… I came in search of food, anything other than what the softball team and family decided upon that night(Panda Express… eww) I ordered the Blue Cheese burger with mushrooms. Hella good. The fries were just OK but it was included with the burger, so not really complaining. I also loved the fact that they had BEER to go. Uh hello, this was a cool feature. For the rest of our stay, we ended up here for breakfast as well– they accepted the breakfast vouchers we were given by the motel and we were given $ 5 off each voucher. Score!

The first thing I had at Bunz was a strawberry milkshake. It was your standard milkshake and I liked it. If I had based my review off the shake and the service that day, they would have received three stars, but as you can see, something magical happened! Well, not too magical, but definitely tasty! I had a goal of eating every burger on the menu and I succeeded. It was marvelous and I ended up with a fat belly. So happy. I sometimes had to eat their for lunch and dinner to accomplish my goal. No regrets, though. My favourite was definitely the Shroom Burger. I’m a mushroom kind of gal, so it’s kind of obvious. The burger was always juicy and made just the way I wanted. My roommate always had something to complain about when it came to her burger. Not cooked enough, too greasy, bun too chewy. Blah blah blah. I’m not a picky person when it comes to a burger. Just gemme meat, buns, and some spot-on condiments and I’m good. The décor isn’t much. There are chairs and booths and outdoor seating. Granted, I’ll always choose indoor over outdoor, but it was kind of nicer outside than it was inside where it was cool… but then again, I don’t eat wallpaper — I eat burgers. And fries. The garlic grab of fries was so good. Fresh garlic is the best, but so bad for me. I knew I would have heartburn all night long, but I did it anyway and suffered. It was so worth it that I did it the next day and was up all night with pain in my throat and chest. Yep. If you’re staying at the hotel, you get a choice between two breakfasts from Bunz. One is fruit and a bagel and the other is pancakes, eggs, and bacon. If you eat a plant-based diet or don’t eat much, the former would be perfect for you. If you’re like me and need more stuffs in your tummy, get the latter. Yummy yummy pancakes! Not as good as iHOP, but still great. They also have chorizo on their breakfast menu, too! It was soooooo good! Stained my shirt, but that’s what I get for being a messy eater. Avocados are a star on the menu, as well. It’s California! Even after all of this and you still don’t care for Bunz, care for the employees. They’re so warm and welcoming. I wish I got the name of my waiter, but he was awesome. Always giving me extras and slightly more food than I asked for and just being an all-around wonderful person. Such a sweetheart! I hope I get to go back to San Diego this year. I can’t wait to see the people at Bunz again!

I have a feeling I did not order the right food to give this place a rightful review. We were looking for breakfast along the 8 when we found Bunz. Attached to the Days Inn, we were expecting something like a Dennys. Parking was easy during the week, but who knows if that will change during high tourist season. We were also sat right away. The menu is bare bones. A few egg and meat options, a few omelettes, pancakes, and a burrito. The portions were large for the price, but the quality left something to be desired. I would have expected breakfast quality like this from a teenager trying to make breakfast. The eggs tasted fake. The sausage was clearly cooked from a frozen container. The burrito my husband received consisted mostly of eggs. Barely a breakfast burrito. In fact, the toast was the best part of breakfast. I gave them a 3 star because although the presentation was terrible, it didn’t taste bad. Service was also quick and friendly. It’s worth the time if you have free breakfast while you’re staying at the motel, but don’t go out of your way.

Not the best burger joint I ever been to but it meets the burger crave for being in the area. I have only been here for breakfast which is alright. Can’t complain about free breakfast. I just tried their burger for dinner, the shrooms burger; medium rare. It was a good burger, but it was a sloppy put together. There was oil leaking from the foil paper, my brioche bun was drenched in oil. My burger looked more like a rare then a medium rare. Someone asked me if my burger was raw. Overall the burger was good, just wish the appearance was better for Instagram appearances. To the comment left below: I understand but it’s not the first time I ever ordered a take-out burger.. ..

Empfehlung.

Came here for burger week and their $ 5 Cheesy garlic burger(Normally $ 8.45) The toasted garlic bun and garlic aioli gave it a really garlicy flavor. I also got mine with a turkey patty instead of beef(at no extra charge) and which is not the norm for me, but i still really liked it. I just went with the turkey burger this time because it was my second burger during burger week, and i wanted to change things up and try to be a little healthy since i was planning on eating another burger later that week too. The garlic flavor was very prominent but not overpowering and went well with the baby spinach and jack cheese. Over all i really liked the turkey burger and its something I’d order again. Bunz is in a strange location that you’d never think of as a typical burger destination, its part of the Days Inn in Hotel Circle. There is a small handful of parking spots in the Days Inn parking lot or on the street. I really liked this burger and also that there was no upcharge for the healthier turkey, chicken breast, or vegan black bean patty option. Fries do come separate $ 2 for a small(grab) $ 4 for a bucket. Over all i was impressed with the burger and the Cheesy Garlic burger lived up to its name.

We came last night for Burger Week, and were not disappointed. Each of us ordered the Cheesy Garlic Burger, but differently, of course. I got a turkey burger with garlic fries, and a peanut butter milk shake. I warned our server Daniel that I’m a big pig. We also ordered onion rings for the table. One of my friends had ordered her burger medium and it came out well, so Daniel, our server, sent it back right away. A few short minutes later he returned with a new burger. He told us there would be no charge for the onion rings because of the problem with her burger later when the check came. This was a nice surprise, especially since they had taken care of it so fast considering how busy it was when we first arrived. My burger was just perfect. It was in fact heavenly. The best turkey burger I have ever eaten. A lot of times when I order them they tend to come out dry, probably because some restaurants use frozen patties or whatever. Not so here, it was so moist and juicy, wonderfully seasoned. Oh Bunz, you have satisfied my Turkey burger craving and then some! I will definitely be back, and I’ll be sure to spread the word. Those baby greens were just too tasty, I did not miss all the other usual burger toppings like pickles or tomatoes. I managed somehow to finish all of that burger and the fries and eat onion rings, all while drinking the MOST amazing peanut butter shake. It was blended to perfection. This is my favorite flavor, and they do it proud here. You better believe I read the reviews from my fellow Unilocalers before I came and I wore my stretchy pants. I will be back for more of those turkey burgers.
