Check out the Fairfield Fats band when they play there! Love their music. Also this place is just your typical badass pub, close walk from home and never disappoints.

Unless you are one of the«in» people there, prepared to be ignored. They are very clicky there. The loud music makes me leave immediately. When Jim used to own this place it was a great neighborhood bar — now it has gone to a very low level. I no longer go there.

Went once. Very good ambience. Looks like a great spot and you can tell there are plenty of regulars. 2⁄5 stars though because there is a corner where there is a strong vomit odor to the left when facing the bar. There was no vomit anywhere. Its a smell from way back. It smelled very bad.

I have had the opportunity to enjoy some great music, average drinks and sub par dive bar style service at The Blarney Stone. Complete with dark interior which probably hides dingy carpet, this little strip mall hidaway is a great refuge for both Irish and non-Irish livers. Yes there are only tow kinds of livers so stop pouting and continue reading. A small stage opposite the bar hosts a variety of acts and even gets ballsy with an open mic night. I have yet to make it out borsch an occasion but, I am sure I will have the pleasure of seeing some local talent giving it the old college try. Blarney Stone is a bare knuckles, no frills, kitchenless working man’s(and woman’s) pub. On the plus side, they are more than happy to let their guests bring in food from any of the neighboring restaurants. A great tactic because the more I eat the more I drink and the cycle continues. To that I say Sláinte! May the Craic be mighty!

Just horrible! And I’m a true local! If you like to hang out with a bunch of old gray haired guys who stink up the place with their fxxts, go for it! But wow, this place should be torn down and burned up, geez! I’ve been in this neighborhood for 25 years, and I’ve seen alot of things come and go, but wow, this place has gone downhill over the years. Went in there the other day and the place stunk so bad it turned my stomach! Went into Vons next door, did some shopping, came back, same result: Smelled like a bunch of old guy faxts, wow! Disgusting! Please tear this old place down, it’s dead!

What kind of bar tows cars that are left in the bar parking lot over night after spending the night buying drinks for friends and the band? After spending over $ 125 I got a nice little present the next day… a $ 350 towing bill. Thanks

A few years ago and I would have given this place 5 stars. But lately it has gone down hill. It use to be you would go on a Friday or Saturday night and they would have a band play Irish songs, not punk songs or pop songs, but Irish drinking songs that the patrons would join in singing or clapping and of course drinking. I was really excited to be so close to this place when we moved back to San Diego, but the last few times I’ve gone though it’s been really shitty cover bands playing crappy songs from the 90s. Oh and yes the hall to the bathrooms smell like piss. I get that its a bar and all, but seriously it needs some massive amounts of bleach.

Real good time at the Blarney Stone, drinks were strong and good. Bartender knew what she was doing. Solid live music along with good tasting food. Would definitely come back here again.

I don’t give to them 5 stars cuz their service are too slow and their waitress never smile to u, never pay attention to u, and NEVER say THANKS after u give to them tips. Btw is a good spot wit live music open mic etc… If u like live music. But please SMILE and Hire happy people not sad people.

I think this is a cool bar. It is very simple… very small… but packs a lot of fun. They have live bands and the close proximity creates an rather unique atmosphere. They bring in some good musicians that interact with the crowd and develop very interactive and extremely entertaining commentary and banter with the audience. Highly recommend this place with groups of friends or on some random Friday or Saturday on a solo mission. This place can be a lot of fun!

Flies in your drinks and cheap drinks, so I guess maybe it evens out? The service was good, but even though I pointed out that the waitress gave me a beer with a dead client and I did not get my drink for free… There are many small flies hovering around the beer taps, so expect that you might get a little extra protein with your beverage.

NEVER returning. Thought it would be the perfect St. Patrick’s bar and was way off. Half of the Irish drinks I ordered they did not have and absolutely NO specials for the day. The blond working the bar(told was the owners wife) shorted a shot. $ 6 for a half shot of Jameson. Any bartender(Yep, used to be one) knows those shitty plastic shot glasses are 1.5 ounces. When you half pour it, that’s ¾ of an oz. The security was nice but we felt 30 yrs younger than most of the patrons. Worst feature… You can smell the men’s room in the hallway. Get some bleach and clean the piss smell. We’ll stick to the better dive bars in Clairemont.

Best Irish pub in San Diego. Great venues and atmosphere. I would not be married if it wasn’t for this pub and The Fooks. Even when it’s crowded, you can still have a good time. Come often, something to do every night of the week.

My favorite place to be to avoid home and see the people I have grown to love. Been coming here for almost 5 years now. I come here often just for the sake of company and someone to talk to. People here are trust worthy and there is never any trouble here. Live music, trivia night and good price on the Newcastle.

I have always enjoyed coming to this bar. It is a Irish pubs style bar that is tucked away in the back of a strip mall off of Balboa. They usually have a band or some type of performance starting at 9pm. I love when they have traditional style Irish music. They usually have drink specials written on the wall behind the bar.

FIRSTIMPRESSION: Charming Irish dive pub with loads of character on the walls + in the clientele. Inexpensive + tasty selection of good beer + ample selection of liquor with talented + friendly staff. THEDIGS: This little watering hole is a favorite among locals for good reason: the Blarney Stone Pub features an eclectic mix of weekly events and equally eclectic patronage. My favorite nights are Monday + Saturday for Live Prize Trivia + The Fooks energetic Power Celt Rock respectively. For me, once I made some connections to the people here, it felt a little like home, like you were part of some long lost extended family. THEVERDICT: GO! — Dive bars are great fun and provide a totally different experience than the swanky + upscale, and the somewhat snobby hipstery spots(that I also enjoy). Set your expectations appropriately and you won’t be disappointed by this charming little slice of Ireland.

Here we are at a neighborhood Irish pub with a local feel on New Year’s Eve in Clairemont. Friendly bartender, and a lot of customers seem to know each other. Sipping gin and tonic and waiting for The Barmen to play music. These are real folks here, and nobody is putting on airs. A mix of age groups tonight on New Year’s Eve. I feel safe and friendly in here. You may see Hagrid from Harry Potter’s world out front, but don’t judge this place by the parking lot. Plenty of parking here by the way. From the guy with the Mohawk to the guy with long hair, they all seem friendly to me, cool peops. $ 5 cover charge tonight but it’s New Year’s Eve and there will be music soon. Maybe a scotch, vodka, or rum for $ 4 will soften the blow.(-; Trying to figure out whether these wood beams on the walls and ceiling floated over here from Ireland for reals. I dunno. What shall I drink next?(-; To be continued… What do you do with a drunken sailor early in the morning’? Find out when you hear John Kelly on the bodhran as the Barmen sing and play at the Blarney Stone! Whiskey, you’re me darlin’, drunk or sober! Truth tell I wasn’t drunk enough for the raunchier sings by 11:30, but the crowd was rowdy and fun! It’s almost 2014! No food! And ladies, there is only 1 lady’s toilet. But we’ll return again when there’s live music, as it was fun, and I liked the people.
