Spent a weekend in Catalina and made at least 3 stops here! Good service and great ice cream(fro-yo just aiight). My fav flavors: fudge tracks and sugar-free almond praline. Delicious!

The smell of fresh waffle cones grabbed our attention as well as the long lines. The waffle cone was good but not great and the icecream is just Dryers. Nothing fancy or homemade about it. I was a bit grossed out that they were handling money and touched the cones with their bare hands. I doubt i’ll go back.

Ice cream is alright nothing to shake a stick at considering this is the product that they should be eat at. Smoothies are meh. There was some cayenne pepper taste that did nothing for the flavor but make you wonder why in the hell it was in the all fruit smoothy. Location is the only reason this place survives. I would recommend walking across the street to Ralph’s and get tub of Ben n Jerry. Cheaper and 100percent better.

Ice cream right on the board walk, it is mighty convient, but you pay for it. And the woman was talking on her phone half the time, and we ordered no whipped cream or nuts or cherries… but she decided we could just do without the nuts and gave us the toppings regardless… lol… no need to complain just right a review. But the waffle cone was great, as was the cookie dough and strawberry ice cream scoops I got with it. Creammmy and delicous… uuummmm. Over all, I love ice cream so it doesn’t matter how much I have to pay when I’m craving it as long as its good.

F.Y.I: Walking along the boardwalk on a bright, sunny day near the beach just makes me crave ice cream. I mean who wouldn’t want to be licking ice cream off a waffle cone while people on their bikes, roller blades, and skate boards are passing you by… It’s like your on an episode of Saved by the Bell at Malibu Sands!!! The lady working came to the little window but my friend and I were still deciding what we wanted to order. Once we were ready and notified her, she looked at us and then continued to text on her cell phone… all I thought to myself was«Hmmmm Big Olaf just lost a star on their rating!» I ordered a Big Olaf with rocky road and mint chocolate chip w/a cherry on top, no peanuts/whip cream. When I was given my sundae there was whip cream on top even though I specifically told her I didn’t want any… and good thing there were no peanuts on top because I am deathly allergic! My order, as well as my friends, were incorrect… so once again Big Olaf is down another star… The venue of this place fits the boardwalk perfectly and its colorfulness and big signs attract customers passing by. The portions of the ice cream were small considering the price of the ice cream and it tasted OK… I definitely have had better. The only thing good about this place was their strawberry ice cream :) After finishing my ice cream cone, I was left feeling a little disappointed and unsatisfied with my selection of flavors. I would probably go back for the strawberry ice cream. but other than that it would have to be me needing something cold to cool me off because its in the high 90’s outside. Until the next wave of my reviews. Unilocalers lets Keep Tahoe & our beaches Blue!

I usually stay at the beach cottages when I vacation here and the big olaf is real close to the cottages. Its a small colorful little shack right on the boardwalk at mission beach. I always get a waffle cone. They are so good. Not the cheapest place to get an ice cream but its deffintly good. I always go here at least once everytime i come to san diego. They have shaved ice to.

Wow, $ 4 plus tax for some ice out of a blender with gross, synthetic-tasting syrup? Methinks not. I stopped here while biking along the beach and I was enticed by the idea of shaved ice. «Yummm,» I thought«I feel like I’m in Hawaii or something.» The disgustingness of the shaved ice brought me back to reality. I tried really hard to not let it ruin my day, but it was pretty darn bad. I mean, «shaved» implies, well, «shaving of ice» not grinding up of ice in a high-powered blender.

If I’m on the beach or boardwalk and craving ice cream, then Big Olaf is difficult for me to pass up. The fat-free, hand-scooped chocolate frozen yogurt(that you’ll swear tastes more like creamy ice cream) is really good. Prices are OK; a big waffle cone will run you $ 5 – 6. A decent colorful little ice cream shack on the PB boardwalk!

Despite Big Olaf himself likely an urban legend, this claptrap taco stand of a smoothie/ice cream bar serves up a worthy product in the lawless retail wasteland clustered around Reed st. — the zone that will be razed as soon as the soulless developers that own the Promenade(nice name) overcome all the resistance in the planning board and so forth. Sucks, cuz Lahaina’s, the only legit bar right on the beach, will be gone, replaced by Joe’s Crab Shack type chain restaurants. yay. Also note that Olaf, or his minions, spell smoothie«smoothy». I suspect this is due to the letters not fitting on the sandwich board that serves as their primary advertising vehicle.
