Tried this place for the first time! I thought the décor was cute and gave off a hipster vibe. The employees were nice & answered my questions about their menu items. I got a hot white mocha & it was a bit sweeter than I thought it would be but it was still yummy. I forgot what my menu item was called but it has an egg on top & they said it was basically kinda like a grilled cheese sandwich with some meat and then an egg. It came with a choice of soup or salad. The soup was pretty good, it was kind of like a lobster bisque soup. My boyfriend got an omelette inside a croissant. The croissant was perfect, but I did think there was too much egg in the omelette. The presentation of our food was pretty aesthetic, I liked that there were fruits on the side. But overall my experience here was average, I do think it’s a good place to study or get some work done in the morning though.

Great food, location, and prices! The toast they provide with your meal is fresh and tasty, coffee is really good as is the yogurt parfait and their pastries! Definitely worth coming back to this great spot!

I’ve been to Bella vista social club twice and both experiences were terrible. The first time we went, it was pretty busy and we got seated pretty quickly but we waited 1+ hours for the food to come out and the food wasn’t even hot. The manager even commented when we paid«was it worth the wait.» The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. Service was overall not great and it seemed like there was a lot of staff but they weren’t actually doing anything. The second time I came here was even worse than the first time. We got seated pretty quickly again and the wait for the food wasn’t that long but the food was not hot when it came out. One of my friends plates didn’t come out and after we asked them where our food was, it took them a while to figure out what we had even ordered. We sat right by the main counter/kitchen and I saw a bunch of people’s food just sitting on the counter. It’s no wonder the food wasn’t hot! It sits on the counter for a while before they even bring it out. They also never filled our water once. I had to get up and fill my own water and when I did a black chunk, the size of a dime came out of their pre filled water dispenser. I asked for another cup and the waiter was extremely rude. Instead of handing me the cup he placed it on the counter adjacent to me and told me the refill station was over there. I refilled my water again and yet again there was a smaller black thing in my water. At the end of the meal we waited forever to get our check and the manager came by and was waiting for the credit card but we didn’t have it ready right away so he walked away and came back after 5 mins. After we paid he walked away and said a quick, insincere thank you as he walked away. Overall, the service was terrible. They food again was not bad but not great either. On a side note, one of the waitresses was wearing a tank, yoga pants, with half her stomach showing. Seemed a bit inappropriate for someone that’s serving people food. The one good thing about this place is their outdoor seating and their view of the ocean by the glider port. However, it’s not worth the bad service and mediocre food.

Not a bad place to catch a late breakfast when in the area. It was overcast on the day I went so there was really no view of the ocean. I went with the Atlantic bagel, which had cream cheese, lox, tomato, capers, and red onions. It was pretty good, though I’ve had much better. I also went with a single machiato which reminded me of something you’d get in Europe. My gf got the croque madame, which was pretty good. The service was a bit slow considering they weren’t busy at all.

Service was fast and food delicious. We split a bunch of appetizers. The bruschetta was by far the best. They do this thing with Brie and fig jam which is fantastic. The owner was there, helpful and friendly. The views of the sunset are great. But at the same time, sunset goes right into your eyes. If I was from San Diego, I’d defiantly return.

I have been here during breakfast/brunch and lunch time. And I must say I recommend coming here in the morning more than at noon. When I came in for brunch on a Saturday morning, my boyfriend and I were seated by a very nice hostess. Our food were so delicious. I left knowing that I’ll be back again. Then I came back for lunch on a Tuesday. During lunch time, everything is self served. You seat yourself, you go up to the front to order at the register. I don’t know, the food was still great, but the atmosphere was not as enjoyable as my first experience here. I will definitely be back again, but for brunch, not lunch.

Molto buono! My friend and I went for breakfast and we really enjoyed it. I liked the menu choices and the food came fast. We both got the white hot chocolate and it was creamy and satisfying. Even better was that I can walk to it from my campus :)

Cool place to hangout especially on a Friday evening, after a crazy week at work. Have been here for lunch, once in the past, but the place entirely different during the evening. Had a couple of glasses of the stout from a brackenridge, colorado brewery and they were pretty good. Had a pinot noir(mark west) and that was smooth too. Had the fries(patatine fritte) and crab cakes(il lecca-lecca) for appetizers, of which the crab cakes were delicious ! Had the ravioli mille gusti which was pretty good, just that it could have been better with lesser salt.

Tried the Del Mar omelette. It was great! Very well balanced flavors. Cooked to perfection. Also got a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette which was one of the best dressings I have had. Well priced and great quality!

You owe it to yourself to bring a friend and come eat lunch here. I love the tuna curry panini and I am currently obsessed with their salad dressing. You won’t regret it.

Came her for brunch on a Sunday. Not too packed, was seated right away. Great view of the ocean from outside seating but also from the inside. They usually have a small but tasteful selection of craft beers on tap as well as in bottles. I had the Salmon Benedict as well as the Madame Croque. The salmon is grilled, which was tasty but I think smoked salmon would have been tastier. However, the Madame Croque was absolutely delicious, with ham, chipotle sauce, Italian cheese, and egg. This is definitely among my favorite places for Brunch.

Didn’t expect to find this place so close to The Lodge A great spot for breakfast! We were staying the weekend at The Lodge and didn’t want to eat every meal there.

I love coming to Bella Vista for brunch or breakfast on the weekends, especially when the weather is sunny and warm. There is never any wait, no crowds and i feel like not that many pple even know about this café. Majority of the seating is outside on the very large patio. The café has a modern and European feel to it. The name of the café speaks for itself, its located very close to Glider’s point and from the patio you can catch some beautiful ocean views. Breakfast and brunch options have good variety of egg dishes like omelettes, scrambles and quiches. On my last visit i tried spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese quiches with a side salad(drizzled with balsamic dressing). It was a perfect brunch meal, not too heavy but enough to get me thru the day till dinner. I hear they have pretty nice happy hour as well as live music on certain days of the week. I’ll be sure to try it out. Always a great meal at Bella Vista café with a beautiful scenery!

This place was so cute! I came here with my best friend and I had a farmers omelette and my best friend had the croque Madame & we were both extremely impressed. The food was filling and we didn’t feel too heavy after and the service was amazing. Minus one star because I wish it had a better view of the ocean. Quality wise it was very good!

Cute little shop near the gliderport and salk institute. Came here on a Sunday at 11AM. It was kind of weird because we were seated with menus right away but no one talked or brought anything to us for 10 minutes. I walked up to the counter and ordered my coffee bagel and fruit salad and then got a number. On my way to my table I was finally asked if i wanted to order something. The system was definitely off that day. That said, it was a great clear view and a comfy café to have a light breakfast.

I sit here a few days a week with my Atlantic bagel(your choice of bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers and red onions), my chai latte and a mimosa… I feel my sanity may take a huge nose dive if I don’t sit in their wonderful outdoor lounge and enjoy the view of the ocean and the glider port. Their customer service is fantastic– they are efficient WITHOUT being invasive(especially if you bring your work and sit there for longer than you should-HA). Also– we have used them for catering– best finger foods ever!!! Can’t wait to use them again.

Menu and food-wise, Bella Vista falls rather short of being the best brunch place in La Jolla, let alone in all of San Diego. The tartines here are well, tartines. I don’t really know what else you expect from an open faced sandwich. The truffle quiche is quite good, and the regular sandwiches are pretty good too. Mimosas, as picky as you can be about mimosas, are just alright. Coffee is decent, but don’t expect any latte art. Service is always friendly but a little bit slow. The waiters seem pretty easily overwhelmed though. What is great about this spot is the view, and the fact that you can get seated with no wait at noon for Sunday brunch. Dining outside is a must. The ocean view isn’t the best, but really what else are you asking for with prices this low? Even if you feel like sitting in doors, the large glass windows ensure you get all the sunlight and view that you would have benefited from if you sat outside instead. The brunch options are relatively healthy too, which makes this a really great spot for anyone to grab a light weekend breakfast without having to brave hour long lines.

What a wonderful place. Very European atmosphere and very friendly fast service.. I ordered the Nutella crepes and wow. Couldn’t get enough of this amazing dish. the restaurant sits on the second floor of a larger education Institute and has pretty nice views of the Pacific Ocean. Great place for brunch. Most importantly they have very good coffee…

Everything on the menu sounded really good so I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to get for brunch. I decided on the acai bowl with almond milk and my friends got the croque madame and the croque monsieur. My acai bowl was good enough and the fruit was super fresh but I felt like the acai wasn’t properly blended. There were ice crystals in it and made it kind of crunchy. I like it creamy and this is the first time I have ever had crunchy acai. The almond milk came on the side and I had to mix it in myself which then caused the acai to become too watery. The actual flavor of the acai was good. My dish was over all ok mainly due to the weird texture. There was a decent amount of food in my bowl for the price. I tried my friends dishes and those tasted pretty good. I should have got what they had instead. I am a little disappointed. The waitress was super sweet and friendly. Service was quick. I would come back here to eat but probably not going to get the acai bowl ever again.

What a hidden gem! This place is amazing! The menu makes me want to order everything at once, the view is beautiful(unless you don’t like airplanes), and the ambiance is relaxing. I had the Bella Vista panini with a side of lobster soup. It was delicious. There is plenty of(paid) parking(free on Sat&Sun). It took me a while to find the restaurant though. It is right off a main street, but tucked away and quiet.

A good place to go to if you’re nearby. Even better if you go to UCSD so you can walk or shuttle, since you do have to pay for parking. It’s like a little café, nothing gourmet, nothing special. Some people claim that the view is nice. They obviously haven’t eaten at a real ocean view restaurant. Not taking stars off for the view but just saying, all you see is a sliver of the ocean and it’s not enjoyable because it’s so far away. The edge of the cliff is a walkable distance from this café, though. I like my breakfasts sweet so I ordered one of the crepes that had Nutella, banana, and strawberries on it. The crêpe was pretty flat and soggy and there was no fluffiness or crispiness to it, which is how I like my crepes. There was nothing memorable about it either, so I probably won’t order it again. Anyone with a crêpe maker can make the crepes at home. Unfortunately I don’t have one and was craving crepes at the time. The croquet Madame,(don’t be fooled by the fancy name, it means ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg), was okay. The melted cheese was already dried so it wasn’t as tasty. I like when my cheese is still runny and warm. Lunch looks a little more promising, I would definitely come back. It seems like a lot of their items are a hit or miss so I will definitely come back at my convenience to try out some more things.

You have to pay for parking during the week, free on weekends but plenty of it. Not a clear view of the ocean but there is one and you can go to the glider port after your meal and get a closer look. Reggae music they were playing was good. We came in for brunch and shared the truffle quiche. It came with salad. Both were really good. Bellini was not the best I’ve had, but at least they have them on the menu! Not worth a drive out here but perfect if you live, study, work nearby.

This past week, I went to the«Women’s Who Runs the World?» event at UCSD. Appetizers were sponsored by Bella Vista Social Club and Caffe and I’m so glad about that. Their finger foods were phenomenal! They had these addicting bbq meatballs on a stick, a bruschetta trio(classic basil tomato garlic, eggplant, and prosciutto, fig jam, brie) and they had hummus with celery sticks. This may sound like ordinary finger food but WOW! The flavor, the quality, the presentation was superb! I can’t wait to go in for a full meal, have dinner on their patio, and see the sunset — did I mention there is an ocean view? Great food. Great ocean view. Great service. It’s my kind of place.

Delightful space to sit and enjoy the view, a drink, a snack, a meal and a nice conversation. While you can also sit in contemplative silence, what you really hope is that Annie will come talk to you and shower you with her sunny warm energy. Perched on the edge of the cliff in sleek Eurodesigned furniture, you can lounge on the chic white upholstery, or have an intimate tete a tete over a mimosa in a cozy corner table. It’s a lovely environment and the food is quite good. We were seated, got coffee and food delivered within 20 minutes.

Ahhh… Breakfast! Oh, how I love you! All day, every day, any time of day. For sure my favorite meal is breakfast! On a recent trip to San Diego, my fiancé had to visit his company’s office so I was on my own — And I was on a mission to find a spot that blew me away. And I found it! This little café has a funky, modern vibe that I totally dig. New, clean and fun pops of color that instantly make you smile. The location and view can not be beat — Walk up a set of stairs and gaze over to your left. An amazing view of the ocean. Not only can you enjoy the glorious water view, it is also located right near La Jolla’s Glider Point — great view of all the hang gliders. I was greeted with a friendly face and a welcoming smile as soon as I walked in. Each and every employee that I saw and/or spoke to was overly nice and made me feel right at home. I’m a sucker for great customer service(but not anything too overbearing). and this was just the perfect amount of helpful, sincere and knowledgable. What more could you ask for?! Oh yeah. Fantastic food. They have that in the bag! It took me a little longer than usual to order because I couldn’t decide between all of the yummy sounding dishes. I finally went with the Farmers Omelette on a Croissant. Dang! This was good! Not only were the eggs and the veggies perfectly cooked but choosing the croissant(rather than a bagel or ciabatta) was what really knocked it out of the park. Light, flakey and buttery. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The side of Roasted Rosemary Potatoes that the croissant is served with were delicious — Rosemary is one of my favorite herbs(especially paired with potatoes). These did not disappoint and simply melted in my mouth. Mmmm… What a wonderful breakfast in such a fantastic place! *I swear. I was born to be a Cali chick(it’s probably the blonde hair). maybe one day! Whether you are a local or just visiting. this is the place to go for an all around fab breakfast experience! The only downside. I was not able to return for the happy hour or Champagne brunch. But, I will be back someday. fingers crossed!

When I want carbs during work hours, this is where you will find me! I love that this place is so close to UCSD — a breath of fresh air for those of us working around the Torrey Pines mesa area! The lines get long during the lunch rush, but service is relatively quick! I love how they have a wide variety of food within their subdivided categories(paninis, pasta, sammiches, salads). I honestly couldn’t make up my mind for a very long time because I wanted to try everything! Croque madame(a step up from the classic French croque monsieur) was delicious, as was the side salad that came with it! The pasta carbonara is delicious as well. The only caveat is the slightly high price tags, but it’s expected in the area(Green Acres, I’m looking at you). Beautiful, clean and modern ambiance, validated parking, and ocean views. Can’t ask for much more!
