Loved this place. Used them for a mass order for a business lunch and it went over great. BBs was quick to make the sandwiches, affordable, and I was able to try two different halves of different sandwiches. Both of which would have brought me back. Highly recommend this local gem.

Always greeted with a cheerful hellp and small talk. Sandwiches are good. Avogobble is my favorite! Grabbed an egg and muffin sandwich but not 100% sure about microwaved eggs. Lunch I’ve gotten many times and for sure going back. Thanks AL

So glad I found BB’s deli. I take a short lunch and I’m able to walk to BB’s(approx 3 blocks) order my sandwich, walk back to work and eat within 30 minutes. They are FAST! Ingredients in sandwiches have always been fresh, service is friendly and speedy. They also offer a frequent buyer card!

Generously portioned no-frills sandwich and VERY speedy service. The perfect option for a quick bite at lunch. The women behind the counter are of few words but quite friendly. As I said, perfect for a *quick* bite. Food was inexpensive and offerings were varied enough you’re certain to find something you’ll enjoy. You won’t leave overly impressed but you won’t be disappointed or hungry either. In fact, the only thing I can see someone complaining about might be the business’ favorite football team; they’re Chargers fans and there’s no way you won’t notice. Quite happy with my choice. Fit the bill.

A small bagel place in Downtown San Diego. Good bagels — though not much variety. The lady behind the counter was very nice. She recognized I was Indian, and had conversations about that, which I don’t get often. The coffee was good — though I wish they had some real half-and-half. The egg was microwaved, but then it is a cheap food place, and quick and convenient overrides the gourmet preparations. It is a great cheap stop for breakfast. I will go here if I need a bagel, and I am in the neighborhood.

Yummy in my tummy! This is the kind of place you don’t want to Unilocal about. It’s so good you know that once the words out there’s going to be line. I heard about this place from a Coworker and I thought I would give it a try because I was sick of eating mediocre sandwiches. I had the hot pastrami on rye bread. It was delicious and was ready extremely fast. I couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying lunch.

Good seating, great and fair prices however for a mom and pop deli. I don’t expect my egg and cheese bagel to be prepared via microwave. Of course I’m partial to New York delis/bodegas but you should also have a greater variety of bagels. None of this would have prevented me from returning if it weren’t for the poor customer service. I work too hard for my money not to be appropriately catered to for my patronage. I’ll keep shopping around for my poppy seed fix in the area.

This family owned deli is one of best delis in Downtown San Diego. The mother and son are very hospitable. If you have never been before, it’s a small place with a few tables inside and out. Be careful not to overlook… it can be easy to miss. They have plenty of options from breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, snacks, desserts, candy, and beverages. We are bummed that we no longer work or stay near downtown as we used to stop by here almost every morning to get breakfast for ourselves and for our friends. The bacon, egg, and cheese croissants were our favorite. The lunch sandwiches are great, as well. You can’t go wrong with any of their offerings. Portions are good. Prices are very reasonable. We still make it a point to drop in and treat ourselves to some breakfast or lunch every now and then. Despite our long absences, we are still remembered and greeted warmly when we show up. We love this place and it brings back fond memories. You’ve got to stop by and give this place a try.

I think I maybe ordered the wrong thing, $ 8.40 for the West Coast Sub($ 6.40) and a small bag of chips($ 1.25) +tax not toasted and no tomatoes. Overpriced, and the sandwich consisted of an overwhelming French roll and a few slices of meat. I really just couldn’t taste anything besides bread since there was so much of it. When I walked in, an older man said this place has the best sandwiches in San Diego. I would have to disagree based on my experience(try Olive Tree Market) but I would be willing to try something different at BB’s one day due to so many great reviews. Anyways just don’t order the West Coast Sub it was not worth the money or carbs.

So glad I’ll be working nearby BB’S for the next year. Spending 30 years in the commercial construction business, has taken me all over this county. I’ve been to a lot of local/family deli’s. Al, Mama, and the gang have figured it out. Friendly service, good food and fair prices means lots of repeat business. I’ve had almost every sandwich on the menu, and ALL are Fantastic! But if you order the New Yorker my advice if to tell them«half» the horseradish. Do it.

This WAS a 5 star until I saw one of the ladies who makes the sandwiches eat some jerky and go back to making sandwiches without washing her hands. :(ugh. She just wiped her hand on a towel. BUT I like that it’s been around for a while, the sandwich I had was good(I tried their namesake, The BB Classic on Sourdough, good stuff) AND there is Charger stuff galore around AND the place is packed at lunch, so you know it’s got to be consistently pretty good. I’ll give that lady a free pass and hope it’s sanitary otherwise. The kitchen is wide open, so I’M going to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a one time thing.

Came her for a quick sandwich after I saw the high rating on Unilocal.I’m a horseradish fan, so of course I ordered the spicy beef sandwich. The sandwich was really tasty it came on a pretty large onion roll, and had some peppers and other condiments that gave it a kick. The quality of the beef was fine. Service was quick and friendly. The place is quite small, with about five or so tables inside and a couple outside, but when I went there was plenty of available seating. I got a combo, which included chips and a drink. This was the only problem – the fountain drinks. I usually get unsweetened tea, and there was none, only sugary soft drinks that I never drink and Coke Zero.

As an East coaster, I pretty defensive when someone suggests a deli, but I was pleasantly surprised after stopping at this sandwich shop for a big sandwich which I could eat half for lunch and the other half for later in the evening after work. This sandwich shop could have time-traveled from my teen years to another coast. Garlic and butter and stacks of thinly sliced meats with olive oil and the proper attitude. I ate happily and remembered when life was much simpler.

The sandwiches are very big for a good price. The meal is only 1.50 more, and is a good deal. I got a BLT, on sourdough, the bacon was good, there was plenty of lettuce and tomatoes, but not so much mayo. The sandwich wasnt AMAZING, but it was good, and it was a good deal. There is a good selection of chips. They make your food very quickly. The inside is pretty small, but its never really crowded. The atmosphere was warm and friendly.

If you’ve taken even a passing glance at my reviews, you know I’m a sucker for a good local spot, and with solid food at great prices paired with a great atmosphere, BB’s is exactly that. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? While it isn’t flashy, BB’s embodies the local downtown scene. A bit gritty, with a plethora of bits here and there for purchase, the real gem is the owner pair, who you’ll likely chat with while placing your order. Fast and friendly, they’ll gladly cater to any need you may have, and that was enough to charm the pants right off my party each and every time I’ve been. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The below is an egg, ham and cheese sandwich on a jalapeño bagel: The cost? $ 3.25. That’s a great deal. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Was this the absolute best bagel sandwich I’ve ever had? It wasn’t, and probably could have benefited from some higher quality ingredients(I’m looking at you cheese). Having said that, it tasted great, and filled me up when I needed it after a night of indulgence. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Again, while BB’s doesn’t exactly dish up luxury items, it knows what it is, and dishes up fast, friendly service with cheap food that fills. I’d gladly come daily. Star Granted.
