This review is long overdue, Barbara is so very talented! I have had massages from her quite a few times and have recently been seeing her for prenatal massages. Let me just say they are AMAZING! I have had prenatal massages elsewhere and people are afraid to touch you. They use light pressure. I guess it always feels good to get rubbed, but when your preg, you are in pain and someone who knows what they are doing can make all of the difference! She truly takes the time to talk to you, find out where you have issues and then she works on them. I feel like at other massage therapists I have seen ask, but still stick to their routine.
Since the pregnancy, I have been having pain in a lot of weird places — like my ribs. Not only does Barbara make me feel very comfortable so I don’t feel weird saying my ribs really hurt, can you massage them? But she has been able to get in there, work on the area, and provide relief. I feel so much better and was surprised and so happy to realize that the massages also seem to help with the restless leg feeling I was getting at night. I didn’t realize it until it started coming back before the next massage.
I highly recommend Barbara for any type of massage, but wanted to point out my amazing experience with her for prenatal because it’s something new she’s added.

Barbara is an amazing massage therapist! She is completely in tune. Many massage therapists ask you want you want and then do what they want instead. Not the case with Barbara. She is very attentive and flexible in her technique, not to mention that she is just a cool person. Would highly recommend her!

THE BEST MASSAGES! Barbara Miller has a way of getting to the root cause of your soreness and performs magic on your muscles. I was suffering from severe symptoms of tmd (tempero-​mandibular disorder) causing my ears to fill up with water and partial hearing loss. I had previously thought it was an ear infection on three different occasions and treated them with conventional medicine prescribed by two different «medical» doctors with mediocre results. However, my chiropractor listened to my symptoms and recommended Barbara to do a Maxilofacial Massage where she massages the inside of your mouth and your whole entire face. Almost immediately my ear problems just disappeared. If you do a lot of talking in your job or chew gum or clench your teeth then your jaw tightens up on your ear tubes and they fill up with water and can’t drain out. I’m a plumber so I know all about blockages. They could burst your eardrum if it got bad enough. I’m not a doctor but I know what works for me. Anyways Barbara has been able to fit me in on the spur of the moment and I always walk out of there in heaven. Plus she’s very affordable. As a matter of fact I think I’ll see if she can see me today. My back is sore from lifting all those toilets!

Barbara is so talented and so sweet! I’ve gotten a massage from her, and referred her to a few people including my own family (who have also used her). Everyone has been pleased with her work, and she is very reasonable on price. Definitely the place to go to de-​stress!

Barbara is awesome. I strained my back at work and tried going to another massage place in Grossmont center mall. That was a mistake. I found Barbara on Unilocal and my BACK Thanks Me! She found the spots that were strained and made me almost fall asleep three times! She even keeps late hours for us people who get off at 6 pm.

As a Holistic Health Practitioner student myself, I really appreciate all of her expertise, various modalities, and strong, healing hands. She has a very nurturing presence that made me feel comfortable from start to finish — this is an incredibly important quality for my MT to have, and Barb nailed it. There’s a lot of great things about her practice that I want to apply to my own future practice, and the best part was that she was absolutely fine with that. I can’t wait to go back and try her Thai massage.

I have been a client of Barbara for almost two years. She provides an excellent massage experience. She always focuses on my overall health and well-​being and making sure that my aches, pains or any special situations are addressed. She is attentive even to the music I like during massage! And for the men out there… in case you are wondering, like my son did, if a woman can apply enough pressure… rest easy. He had to tell her to lighten up! Bottom line is she is capable of providing the massage experience you want. I recommend her highly!

Barbara gives a great massage! She apples a variety of techniques and always seems to take care of those tight spots without a bit of pain. Lately I’ve been enjoying table Thai. Its very different form Swedish massage but just as wonderful. I also tried her Thai foot massage which was so good I felt like I should be getting them regularly. But how to choose which one? Barbara is always learning. She’s up on the latest and greatest modalities of therapeutic massage.

Barb’s massages are absolutely outstanding — I always leave feeling relaxed and in a state of mellow bliss. She does both traditional and Thai massages — both are some of the best massages I’ve ever had. Her technique is superb, her hands are strong, and she has an intuitive knowing of where those tight spots are — and how to loosen them.

I was very impressed with the Thai foot massage and how relaxed it made my entire body. Barbara has the hands of an angel and knows just the right strength to use. Her massage was one of the best I have ever had! Her location is nearby my home and parking is available. From the relaxing music to the extra touches, this was one of the best experiences I have had. I use to be a secret shopper for spas so I have had many a massage. The reason I like how Barb gives a massage is her combination of several factors: strong hands and strokes, knowledge of a variety of modalities, sense of humor, nurturing and presence, relaxation, comfort & respect, and listening to my needs. I appreciate that when I see her, whether to work through a sports-​related pain, tension from stress, or just for relaxation, I can trust that she’ll listen to my needs and address them. My shoulders tend to be 2 inches lower when I leave Barb’s office :)
*I’m adding to this review a couple months later because I just recently experienced Barb’s Thai foot massage, a new treatment she has added. I got to lay on my back, with my clothes on, and relax, while Barb worked from my knees down to my toes. It was incredibly relaxing and soothing. She used her hands with many types of strokes and also some kind of cool roller thing, that felt amazing on the bottom of my feet and my calves/​shins. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Barbara Miller for your massage therapy needs — My session was Awesome… The lil stuff — Convenient off-​street parking. Welcoming, calming environment both in the reception area and in the session room.
Barbara utilized heat therapy during my session, which aided in relaxing and releasing my areas of tension (not many places go to such lengths of care). Now for the big stuff! — Barbara and I discussed my areas that I had concerns over and she came up with a tentative session plan to fulfill my concerns, with the idea that if items of discovery came up that they would be brought to my attention for treatment modification — which I agreed to before the session started. As it turned out the discomfort I was feeling on the right side of my back was being caused by issues on my left side. Barbara addressed my initial primary concern to help relax the area and then focused in on the root of my issue. Other areas were discovered as well, brought to my attention and addressed. Barbara skillfully flowed with focus using a variety of modalities; deep compressions, Lomi Lomi, Deep Circulatory, Neuromuscular Therapy, Sensory Re-​patterning, Swedish Massage and Table Thai. Barbara, compassionately checked in with me regarding depth of pressure and my comfort level — She was, spot-​on my pleasure/​pain threshold!
