American Fireplaces

I recently moved into a 30-​year-​old condo with a 30-​year-​old gas-​only fireplace that needed a door and some repair work. Before I bought the place, I looked around Unilocal for some places and found American Fireplaces and had them out to do a quote. (I didn’t price shop; this was just a quote to get a credit on the purchase prices.) Despite the property being down near Mexico, the quote process was easy and without charge. The quote involved a custom-​made door due to the age, and they measured on this visit.
Once I bought the place, I stopped by their office to execute the quote, and while there, I shopped for some of that neat stone or glass bedding, eventually deciding on some crushed glass. When I ordered the glass (after Mary at AF and I reviewed choices), I went home and told my wife, «Mary at American Fireplaces told me that you wouldn’t like the first one I picked out, but she said you’d like the one I finally chose.»
The custom door would take 3 – 6 weeks to get made (by an external vendor), and once it was received, we scheduled the visit for the very next day.
The installation tech (who also did the quote and measurement) showed up on time and was friendly and conversational, and got the job done quickly and efficiently and cleanly. (I’ll attach a picture if Unilocal allows it.)
Right after they left, my wife said, «Mary was right.» :)

The service was amazing. They got in, started right away and cleaned until there was nothing else to clean! Had a lot of useful recommendations for future use. All in all, great job!

These guys were very flexible with us while we had to get our pre-​fab fireplace panels replaced in order to sell our condo. Two other companies told us it would be over a week to come out and measure /​replace the panels, but Jeff from the service department understood our urgent situation and made arrangements to have to panels installed the same week. The guys who showed up were very courteous and took care to keep our living room clean and did a great job fitting the new panels into the fireplace. The price was very reasonable given that they had to make 2 trips in order to first measure the panel, then cut to size at their warehouse, and then come back to install them. I would highly recommend them, and we will be using them for work on our new home.

I contacted another repair service and after over an hour and $ 135.00 service fee the guy told me I needed a part that he could get for $ 100.00 (he had it at his house), he said that would be cheaper then ordering it through the company he worked for… I felt like he may be trying to go around the company that hired him and do it on his own but I’m not sure… He Charged me $ 135.00 for the service call and I never heard from him again about the part, it’s like he just forgot about me. The part with installation would be another $ 250.00 as well, but I had to fix the fireplace and so was going to just pay it. I figured he would at least call me to make another $ 250.00…he never did… I called the office a week later and they were nice enough to refund part of my money but I still feel ripped off… So I called American and they came out… They told me that no, I did not need a part… after about 20 minutes the fireplace was working…$ 95.00 service fee, no parts needed and they were gone.
The service person was very professional and you could tell that he know what he was doing. I know who to call the next time I have fireplace issues. I highly recommend American!

I was having some performance issues with my gas fireplace and called up American Fireplace on the recommendation of my HOA. They charged me a flat $ 95 service fee that I could apply to any needed repair labor. I was happy with my experience with American Fireplace as the technician showed up on time, was polite&courteous, and quickly diagnosed the problem. The best part was that he was able to fix the issue without replacing any parts, and even did a little bit of accent work to give the burning fire a more visually pleasing look.

This business delivered and installed the wrong fireplace insert and didn’t even mention it to me. When I saw that it wasn’t what I ordered, they admitted that it was the wrong merchandise and they were just going to rip the one they just installed out and install the correct on the next week! The problem then is we have other work going on that will be delayed as a result of this mistake. When we called and spoke to the owner he said «its no big deal we will be back next Tuesday and just change it right out». Guess what Tuesday comes and they no call no show. When they do show up to install the right firebox, they show up at 7am, no advance call no appt and it IS A BIG DEAL! Now the gas line doesn’t match up to where it was installed before and the outside of the fireplace doors were scratched so the installer takes black spray paint and starts spray painting my brand new fire place. Last of all, they left my gate opened everytime they walked through it so my dogs could get out. Even the contractor working here said these people are loosers and I couldn’t agree more. Nothing professional about them at all. Next stop small claims court
