To be fair, all of my hair cutting experiences at this shop have been fine. I think one of the barbers does a bit more thorough job than the other, but I’ve generally been happy with the service I’ve received. Still, last week, as I was getting my hair cut, recent violent events in the U.S. came up as a topic of conversation. One of the barbers made a disparaging comment about my Muslim sisters and brothers, something to the effect of, «The Muslims are the problem» with America. As such, for reasons dealing with my personal ethics and integrity, I must write a negative review of this establishment. I do not mean to incite anger or to knock the credentials of the men with the scissors; they are skilled barbers. Still, what I perceived as hateful rhetoric makes patronizing this shop again an impossibility for me. Many of you will not care about information like this, and that’s ok. For those of us who do, I submit this review.

Awesome old school neighborhood barber. Pretty simple really. Walk in to friendly faces and an air conditioned building. Tell them what you want, have some good conversation and get out for under $ 20. The hot foam and straight razor clean up on the neck line is legit. Definitely a local gem.

Good shop, been going there for years. Simple, straightforward, good cuts, reasonable price.

The real deal. An old school barber shop where they take their time and do great hair cuts for less than $ 20. They straight edge your neck and even have a black and white checkered floor. Nick is the main guy who runs the place and he learned the trade from his old man. You will be treated like family and they will remember you when you come back.

I was skeptical when going in because nobody had recommended this place to me and it was in a less than gorgeous location. It was my last resort to get my haircut before new years. Well, I wasn’t only not let down, but I received the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. These guys are friendly, formal, and fair. $ 20 got me the best hair cut I’ve seen. They take their time and make sure they do a perfect job.

Nick’s Allied Gardens Barber Shop Great place, Great price, and Great barbers is what you get at Nicks. Nick has one to two other barbers and I never waited more than 5 minutes. Usually never even wait. After my nice haircut I feel about 10 years younger. The guys are friendly and good people. This is the best barbershop I have ever found!

There was no talk of politics in there today, right after that awful massacre in Connecticut. It’s a barber shop, and part of that experience is small talk. If talk turns to politics, and you aren’t happy with that, or can’t stand that someone doesn’t agree with you, change the subject… talk about the weather, sports, a recent movie, anything. I’m happy with them as barbers. A lot of attention to detail, and they use a straightedge on the back of my neck, not clippers. It wasn’t quite as close as it could have been, but it’s my neck. $ 16 for a regular mens haircut is more than you’ll pay at a lot of other places, though.

The haircuts are decent, but these guys always talk politics. Not good to mix business and politics. It might alienate your customers. Like say me.

This is what a barbershop should feel like. You’re greeted by a black and white checkered floor, sports on TV and 3 barbers who make you feel like family. The guys here really do a great job and they all have different personalities. This takes you back to a time when you went to a barber to get a good hair cut and have good conversation. When getting your hair cut was something you looked forward to instead of something you just needed to have done. The guys here do great cuts and will remember you the next time you walk into their shop.
