Every year for the past 20 years we have a Mother Daughter Christmas Tea. We choose a different Venue each year with returns to some of our favorites. They include, the Ritz Carlton, the St Regis, the Five Crowns … This year we choose the nearby Talega Golf Club. What a wonderful decision. The decorations were done with care and an artistic flare, the food was not only displayed lovely but was delicious. The butternut squash soup was heavenly. We had the entire venue making it wonderful for the now grandaughters who are invited to move around and play at a separate play area. But besides all of this, the staff and manager were so accomodating and helpful. We would definetly do it again there.

(Review for Sunday Brunch) SO pleasantly surprised by this place! A friend suggested it and I thought it would be snooty and super expensive, but it was neither! Food was great and with $ 8 unlimited mimosas, how can you go wrong? The service is a little slow, so don’t come if you’re in a hurry, but if you want to sit and relax for a leisurely brunch, this place is awesome! We had a big group and sat on the patio for 3 hours and no one bugged us to leave. I’ll be back :)

My family went here this morning for brunch. Right off the bat, we noticed the place was pretty empty and there were no servers to be found. We found a table w/o a «reserved» sign on it. We had to get up from the table and walk over to the bar area where the staff door was in hopes of catching someone to ask for a high chair. We finally flagged down a server by the name of Dee. When I asked her for a high chair, she asked if we had reservations. I said no, but we didn’t sit at any of the tables with reserved signs. She rolled her eyes at me and said let me go check in the back. Now I understand that people who made reservations get first priority; however, the place was near empty and there were plenty of tables that were open with no reserved signs. As we sat waiting for a high chair, we noticed another gentleman seating people as they walked in that clearly had no reservations. When she came back out with tray in hand full of drinks, she walked right passed us and didn’t say a word. A few minutes later, another server came out and brought us water. We asked him for a high chair and he politely said no problem and got one. He asked us if we knew how the buffet worked, and we said yes. I did ask if I could order off the regular lunch menu. He said it shouldn’t be a problem since it was just a salad and double checked with the chef.(This is why I gave one star… he at least gave me 2 minutes of his time and was nice about it). As we sat there eating and watching tables fill up and Dee going around the tables bringing drinks, we wondered why hasn’t she asked us if we want anything to drink? She was going up to every table talking to them but when she approached our table, she would keep walking. By the time my family finished their first plate of fruit and eggs and were heading back to the buffet, she walked over to me and said in a snotty tone, «Has anyone taken your drink order?» I said, No. She said, «Well…» I said, well, they all are at the buffet. She said, «Then I guess I’ll come back later.» Dee was so rude and not only did she never come back to take our drink order, we never got refills on our water, we had empty plates stacked on the table, and NOONE ever came to ask us how the food was. When we finished eating, I looked for the gentleman that brought the high chair out. I asked him the name of the server. He said Dee. He asked if there was a problem and I said yes. A few minutes later, the so-called manager, Michael Voorhees, came out and asked what the problem was. I explained that I thought Dee was rude off the bat and told him how we felt ignored and that a person’s tone and demeanor makes a huge difference when they speak to people. He defended her and had an excuse for everything I said. He actually laughed and said, «All I can say is sorry. I don’t know what else to say… Laugh…laugh…laugh.» Really? Is that how they train you? He looked and sounded so incompetent. He was so unprofessional. Bottom line is this… Do not eat here. The service sucks and the food is mediocre.

Had lunch at the clubhouse. Ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich, fries and salad. The fries were hot and crispy, the chicken tender and juicy, and Charlie, my waiter was friendly and attentive. The only drawback with this place is that from time to time they have private functions that shut the kitchen down.

The iced tea was the worst iced tea my guest and I have ever had. Not only instant, but bad instant made with bad tap water. No excuse for not having a crisp, filtered water, fresh brewed iced tea in an establishment of that calibre. Cobb salad was decent but nothing special. Waiter was excellent. Drank a lot of the crappy tea nonetheless, as he kept our glasses full. Our waiter said he would tell the boss. Hopefully they will correct this blunder so I can increase my rating.

The food is exquisite, the staff as friendly and attentive as can be, and the atmosphere is wonderful. We used Talega for our ceremony and reception site for our wedding and the service and food(even proportion size) was dynamite. Michael and his staff do an excellent job and we will be coming back for the brunch in the future!

Signature Grille at Talega Golf Course in San Clemente is not just for golfers. However, this was a natural choice as we just finished 18 and were waiting for our afternoon replay special. The place is expansive and overlooks a large portion of the golf course with floor to ceiling windows. Very aesthetically pleasing to the eye even if someone is not into golf. They use the room for large private events and wedding receptions, etc to be sure when it is not serving regular meals. The food and service were both very good. I had the pulled pork sliders with good ‘ol fries. Moist, tender, lean savory and full of flavor. Nice job and good sized portion. The other guys in the group ordered Tuna sandwich|salad comboRegular sliders and a BLT. All satisfied customers as well. . Perched in the hills of San Clemente, nice spot for an afternoon lunch even better when you are playing 36 that day.

It was my neighbor Tony’s 90th birthday!!! So his daughter Alice and other family(he has a HUGE family) organized a birthday party for him at the Signature Grill at the Talega Golf Course/Country Club. They rented out the entire restaurant there, and it was a sit down dinner. There must have been at least 150 people there. My neighbor Robin and I had RSVPd only for drinks and hors d’oeuvres, as we both had other plans, but we wanted to stop in and say happy birthday. The restaurant is very pleasant, very open and light, surrounded by windows that look out onto the patio and golf course beyond. We only tried the appetizers but everything was very fresh. There was a huge round table with various cheeses, delicious ripe fruit, veggies with dip and crackers. It was an open bar so we tried the Merlot and Cabernet and they were very high quality. This is definitely a very nice place for an event. There were people there from San Diego, Orange County and LA, so this was a place relatively convenient to all. A nice way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon.

Our family loves this place for brunch! First the prices are great and the food is awesome. It’s great because you can sit outside and look over the Talega Golf Course which is beautiful. Also, it’s nice if you have children… you can sit outside and there are places for them to run around and have fun. You will have to go and check it out!

Saw an ad for this in the San Clemente magazine, and my boyfriend and I figured we’d check it out. We have eaten at the buffet at the Dana Point Marriott many times before, and saw that this one was half the price of the Marriott’s…completely worth it! 16.95 per adult — huge spread, includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, french toast, fresh belgian waffles w/strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, syrup, omlette bar w/broccoli, onions, mushrooms, red peppers, lobster, roast, assortment of breads pastries, muffins, tons of fresh fruit, oysters(raw on the half shell), seared ahi tuna, bloody mary bar(included in the buffet), and I’m sure I’ve missed something, but that’s enough to get you started. Go go go. Make reservations, it opens at 10AM, we went at 10:15AM — started getting packed by 11AM. Brunch is from 10AM to 2PM. They have live music and a wonderful ambience. Coffee is not included, so if you grab one before, probably a better idea. Would highly recommend this place over the Marriott.
