San Clemente Surf Inn

This is an excellent motel near the beach and access to the freeway. Great manager and guests. It’s affordable, near major transportation OCTA public bus at front door, walking distance to restaurants, and of course the surfer’s beach. Rooms are clean, quiet at night, and aesthetically pleasant to the eye. Dollar for dollar, this is a great place to lodge for a night or as I have for several weeks at a time as a technical consultant for local businesses.

Worst night stay my wife and I have ever had. The owner lives on the premises and is very rude. To start there was a domestic disturbance in the room next to ours. Turns out it is the maintenance guy who also stays there. They were going at it until 3am slamming doors, it almost sounded like there was an exorcism going on and I know the owner heard it all and denied hearing a thing. I tried to explain this to him the next morning and he was only worried about getting me out of our room to fill it with the next victim. Be careful if you stay there, they are not helpful and the maintenance guy is just as big a jerk. One more thing. Our bed suddenly started to dip in the middle of the night and in the morning there was a hole on one side of the bed. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Gorgeous rose garden. So relaxing to walk out early in the morning and hang out on the grass. Room was fine for the night. No other issues really. Internet was surprisingly fast lol usually hotels have crappy net connections

TERRIBLE, RIP OFF.
This place has a Notary Public, DO NOT USE IT. There is an Indian guy that notarized my paper work without the proper State required verbiage that was put into law 2 years ago. When I went back to have him correct the mistake he ask me for more money claiming it was a new form… NO sir, it is not a new form, it’s an acknowledgement that you should previously had written on my paperwork, attesting to the validity of our signatures and your witnessing of the signing of the form, it’s State required and you should’ve know this when I first paid you for the legalized form.
I paid $ 30 dollars. Needless to say I won’t be doing business there ever again and I will make it my mission to tell everybody and just so you know a letter is on it’s way to the Secretary of State department of Notary Public. It is my right as a paying customer to have the form done right the first time for which I paid for!

Recently changed the name to San Clemente Surf Inn.
Simple and clean. They primarily cater to military from neighboring camp Pendleton. Despite being located right off the freeway, the location is quiet. Can’t beat the free wifi. They are located near the San Mateo campground and within walking distance to Calafia beach. «Surfer» friendly motel. The rooms are decent with interesting room décor. One thing unique about this motel is their rose bush garden. I have never seen such at a motel. Pretty cool to see upon arriving.
