Rude rude rude! Old, dirty, small and did I mention, rude? We didn’t even get to the point of sitting down before we decided to leave. I’ve lived here my whole life and decided to try this place out one Sunday with my family(2 adults, 2 teens). There were tables available, but only near the door. It was cold and drizzly so we decided to choose to sit further inside and wait for a table to be cleaned. The woman behind the counter didn’t like that idea and insisted we sit at the table by the door — When I say by the door, I mean, you’d get hit in the elbow if someone walked in, and it was cold! We told her we’d be happy to wait for a better table, no problem. Then she waved her arm at us «shooing» us away, rolled her eyes and impatiently told us to wait outside and huffed, «we’ll call you when the table is ready». Keep in mind it was drizzling outside, and was not busy inside the restaurant, at all(not surprisingly). I was really astonished to be treated this way, we left immediately. I looked at the food the other people were eating and it looked boring, nothing special, just basic breakfast. I’m surprised this place has lasted this long with this kind of attitude. I won’t bother coming back, there are 18 other breakfast places in town which are updated, clean, with great service and interesting menus– I won’t be throwing my money away here.

Excellent food, but terrible customer service. I had been there multiple times and always left a good tip. But the last time I went, I was broke so I left a small tip($ 1 on $ 25) and the waitress walked up to me, looked at the tip, and asked«what, that’s all?» Incredibly disrespectful. I still eat here, but I will no longer leave a tip.

This place was so grossly dirty. Tables dirty, plates and mugs dirty. Silverware and dirty napkins on the floor. Menus were sticky. Waitress handling money etc then food. Yuck. Def pass on this place. Gross.

Very nice local breakfast and lunch dining spot. Delicious food and good coffee. Try their patty melt. It is the best in my opinion. The owner, Rose and her two daughters, Kathryn and Christine, are very nice people.

Very friendly staff, they work hard and they are friends with most of the customers! Big plus. It had a locals spot, beach town vibe. I will for sure come back. It looks like they have a back patio too but today was a cold day so nobody out there. Good small spot. Your omelet house is here. And fast efficient service!

My mom and I discovered the Sugar Shack 6 or 7 years ago when looking for a convenient place to stop for breakfast on the way between San Diego and LA. Everyone there is so nice – they always remember us, even if we haven’t been there for many months, and we’ve never had a bad meal. Mostly have had breakfast but they also make great soup at lunch.

This is my favorite breakfast joint. I have never ordered a dish I didn’t like. I’ve tried their specialty omelettes and popular omelettes but my favorite menu item is the steak and eggs. Paying a couple extra bucks is worth it here because they don’t skimp on the portions and the service is always friendly.

Don’t just pass it by cause it says«Shack» We came here for breakfast during our stay at San Clemente State Beach. Sugar shack is literally across the bridge from where we were. You can see the locals eat here, so that says a lot about a place. It’s very casual, inside is just plain and basic, nothing fancy. The owner is always sweet and friendly. But most of all, the food is just good ol’ home cooked goodness. Anything from pancakes, waffles or the omelette beny the bum! BIGGEST seller here is the homemade fresh cinnamon roll. A MUST try. Parking is easy. Prices are cheap. Stop in and enjoy as you take in the ocean breeze.

It was good little diner, with traditional American food. But, man was it expensive! $ 13 for an omelette? Fountain drinks are $ 2.50, when they cost them 50 cents.

We decided to stop here because we got hungry. The parking area was pretty small and so was the place. I felt a little uncomfortable because I haven’t been in a tight place for a while. We ordered the dragon breakfast, when it came out omg the portion of french toast were huge. The breakfast plate was ok, not really that good .The lady there was nice, i think that whoever has a child there they get a side of bananas or cut oranges which i thought it was thoughtful.

The place is right off the freeway coming/going to San Diego. Convenient. Food was exactly what you would expect from a little diner. Lots of flies in the back, near the bread slicer, and the place looked clean, but wasnt when you look atound.

Minus 1 star because the location is small… other then that great food, great ppl. TUNAMELT was on point and to perfection made with swiss cheese, also the sauces are all homemade including a great cole slaw. The gyro plate with fries was made really well and tasted flavorful.

I’ve been here about 3 or 4 times and all was consistently the same. Let me first start out by saying the service is always friendly, prompt and great. The food however, is not. Hash browns are soggy, pancakes are weird tasting, the food is just not that great. Love how cute the place is but the food is NOT.

Good basic diner food served outside on a deck in gorgeous San Clemente. Cool atmosphere but the waitress was overtaxed. Maybe a busboy could help her a bit. Good food, pretty cheap.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this restaurant as much as its sister in HB but now I love them both! It is a cute little shack set off Camino Real in SC, it has a nice patio for outdoor seating as well. They greet you effusively and walk you inside to where little beachy tables await you to sit and enjoy your meal. We ventured out for breakfast so after perusing the menu I decided heck with trying something adventurous I want french toast! So I did. My son ordered the Benny the Bum omelette(lol) and my husband chose the Eggs Benedict. After debating the origin of Eggs Benedict(did you know it’s actually an American dish?) our food arrived, hot and appetizing. My french toast was just yum. I ordered it with cinnamon and it was so delicious, I am reliving the taste writing this: it was cooked perfectly as well. My son ate his Bum so fast(um that sounds wrong) I didn’t get a bite but he did let me photograph it for one second and paused to comment«delicious» as it quickly disappeared. My husband let me sample his meal and it was tasty, the sauce was perfect and the egg was cooked to perfection. The ambiance and excellent service here is second only to the friendly staff, I am very glad we stopped in and when I visit SC this will be my go-to. Thanks for the yummies, Sugar Shack!

I love this place. It feels like coming home and breaking bread with family. Their food made fresh to order, the produce is also fresh and the portions are excellent, and if anything more than you need. My favorites are the blueberry pancakes and the San Onofre Omlette. The San Onofre Omlette is chock full of large chopped veggies, with some cream cheese thrown in for good measure. They will gladly refill your coffee cup to keep the coffee piping hot if that is what you desire.

Don’t do it! This place wreaks of «I don’t give a shit.» Patrice was our server, and she was INCREDIBLYRUDE. I ordered corner beef hash with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. You can reference the pictures I posted as evidence, think they’re pics 15 – 17. What I got was barely edible food. Slop, to be exact. My potatoes were SOUR. Who the hell serves SOUR potatoes?! The hash looked like it came our of a can(at best) and the biscuits and gravy tasted like ass. It had some yellowish looking glop on it that had no flavor whatsoever. This place is a mess! We won’t even mention the honey boo boo look a like sitting at the next table screaming«I want my bacon now!» GREAT. Now there are TWO honey boo boo’s walking the earth. At least we know they have one thing in common. CRAPPYFOOD. This review was for May 31st2014

Yum loved this place! You have to see their cinnamon rolls. They are HUGE. They also have amaaaazing gravy for their biscuits and gravy. We sat outside and it was small but very peaceful. Also, it’s a spot you can bring your dog. Good food, friendly spot. Would definitely be back if we’re in the area.
