I want to enjoy the Patio. I want a welcoming, low-key, local bar with good pours. The Patio is anything but. Try it for yourself. And leave a review. I’ve been there a few times, hopefully you have a better experience.

Is this my Cheers? I’m too young to remember Ted Danson as a washed up sports figure turned bartender or that fat guy Norm on the end of the bar, but I do know that The Patio is a place where«everyone knows your name». The best attribute of The Patio is that there is literally a covered outdoor area with a small service window to the bar that allows patrons to smoke outdoors. I’m not a fan of cigarette smoke myself, although I do respect the fact that it’s there for people who are smokers. Where else can you find a bar that has a jukebox that is always pumping tunes, patrons who will stop and talk to you, and bartenders with some personality and a good sense of humor? Probably not at any local chain or restaurant bar. The patio is a great tribute to the blue collar roots of San Carlos, and will always hold a special place in my heart. Good people, good times, cheap drinks, and a feeling like you’ve never left your living room.

This place is everything that’s wrong with the world. Absolutely terrible. I cannot believe this is a viable business. Goodness.

Great local bar. Best pour in town, price is right. Way entertaining. Clientele all across the board, very friendly. Excellent place to stop for late afternoon buzz or pre dinner slam. Late night bring your own crowd. Smoking ok on outside patio.

Opinions are like belly buttons… everyone has one… this i mine… opinion that is, not belly button. I have seen the New Patio described as a dive bar… only partly correct. I would describe this as Old School. This is the kind of bar my grandparents would have frequented. A friendly bar staffed with friendly but no nonsense barkeeps where the primary goal is to keep you as lubricated as the law allows. Smokers can hang out on the covered, heated patio with two tv’s. Food is only served weekend mornings and special events. Other times patrons bring their own from home or from one of the many restaurants in the area. Check out the New Patio… it’s my home away from home.

Older crowd of locals and regulars. Has an outboor Patio(plus) but it is filled with smokers puffing away(minus). They have a heavy pour on the drinks(plus!) but the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired(minus). All in all, I only go here with my friends who live so close they can walk home afterwards and I am not looking for ambiance at all. If you are lucky and it is a holiday or celebration, they have bbq or potluck food to snack on(one time they had delicious tri tip!

The patio is a little dive bar on El Camino. We came in for breakfast and a couple shots. The food was very good and made the way I ordered it. The outside patio is cute and has a tarp for the rain. Small place but good drinks and a ok food.

I’m in love with this place. I get to chain smoke and get my drank on and bull shit with the old timers which are like… a few of my favorite things. You can park out back, or front, there’s never any B. S drama, and the bartenders are always fun. I mean, bummer about only taking cash but honestly, the prices and nice faces make it worth a trip to Wells before I come here. Forget the Carlos Club, this is the place to be.

If you love dive bars this is the spot for you. Nothing fancy, just stiff drinks for cheap. I recommend coming in and ordering a bloody mary from Paulie. They will kick the crap out of any hangover!

If you’re looking for a good Bloody Mary(hey I am getting my daily supply of veggies right) this is a good place for it. Paulie has a knack for one with proper kick and balance. It is also close to all the quaint shops and restaurants that San Carlos has to offer. A good spot for a drink after dining or before/after a weekend lunch/shopping trip.

This place is all about one thing: DRINKING. Located right on El Camino Real, it is still a small, conspicuous place. That said, I’d still probably count on running into a black and white if you are leaving this place late on a Saturday night. It’s pretty much mostly locals, though they are pretty friendly and convivial. They have a nice side patio with TVs and lots of seating area, and I found it kind of homey. It’s so sad what happened to the Carlos Club. What used to be such a great place has become so awful, it’s all the more important now to have places like this around. Also, you can still eat at places like the Refuge or Town but still do your no-nonsense drinking here.

Terrific neighborhood bar — I especially like that a woman can feel comfortable being there by herself. It feels like Cheers to me. Have Paulie make you a Jungle Juice.

It was here that my amigo Earl convinced me to try a new drink from a bottle shaped just like the bottle that holds Mrs. Butterworth syrup. I expected the taste to be far from that of pancake syrup, but I was wrong! I would definitely put it on my waffles, pancakes, or french toast, but I don’t think I would ever drink it neat again. Anyway, I liked this bar. Everyone was friendly, and I felt comfortable as soon as I sat down. Unfortunately I spilled the last bit of my Mrs. Butterworth, but hey… It was time to head to the next bar anyway. I would return!

Who cares if the crowd is a little bit older and Reno-ish, I like it! They have this licquor called Frangelicos … …I don’t know about you but that drink totally reminds me of Mrs. Butterworth syrup. So I’m sitting at the bar and I’m all like(to the heavily accented Irish bartender), «Give me two shots of Mrs. Butterworth please!». She looks at me crazy and says ok. A local shouts, «It’s better mixed with Brandy». Yeah, what isn’t! I take a sip and wow, it really does taste like Mrs. Butterworth syrup, well I grew up poor so my mom would buy all the generics instead so it would be more like Aunt Jeans instead of Aunt Jemima pancakes or Mrs Betterworth syrup with Ecko waffles(Mrs. Butterworth with Eggo waffles). Check out this interesting Mrs Butterworth and Aunt Jemima commercial. I swear you’ll like it.

Update time! Got shitcanned here with my wife and her two BFF’s. Bartender was cool, made good kamikazes and I forgot about the to-go window! You can sit outside and the bartender will give you your drinks through a little window. I’ll add another ½ star for that, 3 ½ for the Ol’ Patio.

This place is good if you want to hang out with your grandparents. Which I totally don’t do. Especially since they don’t hang out in bars.

Went to see a friend perform music there a couple of weeks ago. Nice place with scary regulars, but whatever. I Tried ordering a Dos Equis and the bartender told me she didn’t know what a Dos Equis was despite having the Dos Equis logo plastered all over the place. I subsequently asked for a Corona where she proceeded to bark at me that they didn’t serve that kind of beer there. Scary place indeed especially if you ask for a Mexican beer.

Two stars for having a business in San Carlos. Very clicky place, same music on the juke box. There’s an outside patio for those who don’t care about smoke in their lungs. The door leading out to the patio is always open so the smoke is basically coming into the bar. yeach… There’s parking in the back but it’s constantly being used for those that go to the ball games making no parking for others, I think that’s very inconsiderate of the owner. Those going to the games take Cal Train across the street… plenty of parking there! …this used to be a nice neighborhood hangout.
