jest like any place that has mexican employees. if you aint mexican, forget it. mexicans hate whites and vice versa. you aint getting good food or service if you’re white. try cooking at home cause it’s hard to find any place with no mexican employees. welcome to so cal. sux huh? Donald Trump for President. white guys make a much better taco. i know this cause i’m white and i make one fukin good taco. you can’t buy mine in any beaner shop. Clint Eastwood for Vice President. can i get a Hoorah? PS, do you really want some beaner, who probably just wacked off in the toilet, making your food? is that really ranch dressing or mayo? think bout it.

Just hit this spot up and ordered two small chile verde fries with onions and an horchata. It was yummy and spicy. That size is perfect for one person. This is literally a hole in the wall. There’s a walk up window where you order and they also have a drive thru. There’s a few tables if you want to eat there. I will definitely return for the chile verde fries. The sauce was bomb with the cheese, fries and onions. I didn’t care to much for the pork. Big pieces, but bland and not tender. The pork was nuke warm, compared to the rest of the meal, which was piping hot. They can keep the pork. Just hook me up with more sauce and cheese and it’s all good. Service was ok and pretty quick.

I come here for the pork fries they are spicier than amapolas. The wait here is pretty lomg most times and sometimes people working here are short with you but honestly it is what it is. They have hard shell shredded beef tacos which are bomb if you’re in the mood for it. Want spicy gooey pork fries and white washed tacos this is your place, if you’re looking for street tacos keep moving

I do not like it here at all. I went & tried it on 3 different occasions, just because I have herd such great things about it, but I was let down each time. If I wanted frozen taquitos, then I would of went to staters.

Chili verde burrito was excellent as were the tacos. I know this is not authentic Mexican food but it is really good. The taco salad is great(but not low calorie)! Give this place a try. Has walk up and drive through.

The only thing I have to complain about is the location. I tried the asada tacos and the shredded beef tacos. The asada tacos came with a lot more on them. They were soft tacos. The shredded beef tacos were small it hard shell. Salsa that came with the food was good. Service was good. Drive through took an average amount of time. I’d go back again but during day time.

The great: The chili Verde is excellent in burritos or the awesome pork fries. It’s spicy and flavorful with large chunks of pork. Pork chili fries are a must try. Staff are friendly and as quick as they can be considering the volume of people that order from this place. The not so great: Other items on the menu are not as great as the chili Verde and some don’t seem to make sense for this type of restaurant like their hamburgers. The location that this is in sucks ass. Scums are panhandling you in front of the place. You sit outdoors which would normally be fine but there are only four tables to sit at which God knows what happens on at night. Anywhere on Baseline really should be avoided unless you are indoors. Overall this is a great place to get great food if you order a chili Verde related item and take it to go. I feel they really should simplify the menu and focus on what they are good at. People need to stop giving this place 1 star because that is helpful to no one.

Haven’t been to taco bender in years so I decided to make another quick trip for lunch few days ago. I ordered the large Chile verde fries. My first thought was like God damn!?? 11 bucks for some just one item at a hole in the wall but oh well it better be bomb, the quality and taste of the sauce was good; Kinda reminds me of my mom’s Chile verde. Also, ordered chicken hard tacos and an horchata! Deiftnetly hit the spot despite waiting for like half an hour in their drive thru. They have a large verity of foods to choose from but be aware they take their time in making it so be prepared to wait.

5 stars for the pork fries. Minus two stars for everything else on the menu. Just get the pork fries. My friend got carne asada nachos and they were tortilla chips with enchilada sauce poured all over them. Smh

Low quality food, overpriced, and rude, rude people. Pablo’s Taco Bender is really a 2 star place in my eyes, but the rating on Unilocal currently is too high. The overall rating of this place ought to be 3 at the highest, so the 1 star rating is to try and bring the rating down to reality. I am a musician and was in the neighborhood looking for a good taco shop to eat at before playing a gig later that night. I don’t live in San Bernardo, and a quick look of a few of the reviews of this place made it seem like it was good. The place itself is just a little kitchen with a roof over it, all transactions are either drive through or outside on the patio. Usually this is a good sign for Mexican food, and I was excited to try it. I parked my car and walked up to the window, the patio was pretty dirty. There were sticky spots on the tables, ground, and trash scattered around. Not a good start, but I was willing to excuse it if the food was at least good. I wanted to get a good impression of this place, so I ordered a combo platter that came with an enchilada, a taco, rice, and beans with horchata to drink. From me ordering to collecting my food, I interacted with a total of three employees. Not one smile. I smiled at them, tried making some light conversation, being friendly, and got nothing out of them but dead faces and attitude. I worked in food service for six years, I know some days feel like that, but you always put on a welcoming face for the customer, so no points for them there. The horchata was delicious. This was some of the best horchata I’ve had, so this restored some of my faith in this place. I sat there and sipped on my horchata for a few minutes when I finally got my food, which was well-presented enough for being in a Styrofoam container. However, the taco looked a bit puny. I was hungry so I dug in to my meal of overwhelming disappointment. The enchilada was okay… just okay, it wasn’t good, it wasn’t terrible. It seemed to lack flavor and I really wasn’t impressed by the sauce it was in, which was bland. I’ve bought canned enchilada sauce that was better than the sauce I had here. I tried the rice. It was rice, not much to say. I tried the re-fried beans. Jesus, the re-fried beans… These were the saltiest beans I have ever tasted in my life. It was like putting salt in your mouth that had a subtle bean after taste. I’m exaggerating, but trust me when I say that these beans were way too salty, it’s a good thing I got a large drink. The taco was possibly the most sad taco I’ve had. The poor little corn tortilla taco was trying so hard to be a crunchy taco, but I could tell that it just begged to be a soft taco. I couldn’t see the meat past all the lettuce and the large slice of tomato that they threw in there. It wasn’t a bad taco, but I have certainly had better tacos than this. I can and have made tacos better than that. Now for a bit on the price. Mexican food, I believe, hits a ceiling in quality that you can’t really go past. By this I mean that there is no such thing as «gourmet» Mexican food. You can put three tacos on a plate in a fancy restaurant with cloth napkins, AC, wine, and candle light, but by the end of the day it’s still just three tacos. Nothing fancy about it. That said, the price is far above the quality of the food here. This place is a disappointment. I read something about Pablo leaving this place, so maybe that’s why previous reviews rave about this place. Damn shame that the people here don’t care about the food. Don’t waste your time and money, move on.

I come here mainly for the pork chili fries, they are the bomb dot com. Get them with chopped onions too(I forgot to this time). The rest of the food is good I assume. If you are a carne asada fries fan, then these fries are a MUST.

Not good at all. We got pork chili fries which had no flavor but spicy and pork was tough. Kids got cheeseburger which was average and hubby got taqueria. Over fried to a crisp and were horrible. Too many white people in a Mexican kitchen!

Holyness!!! I didn’t think this place still existed from 18 years ago when I last went. It’s better than what I remembered! It’s definitely not something you want to eat on a regular basis. going to have to work out for 2 hours for this one, but hey, it was worth it.

Living in the I.E. for the past few years has taught me there aren’t too many things to brag about here. Finally, I’ve found one: «We’ve got Pablo’s Taco Bender and those(yet to be) world famous green Chile pork fries!» Seriously, green Chile pork fries are a must if you come here. The chile is NOT spicy at all, but does have a perfectly subtle spice. It’s almost gravy like in texture, which is perfect for coating and clinging to each french fry. There is no shortage of pork either; huge chunks of pork peek through a beautiful top coat of cheese. I was surprised that the dish wasn’t as salty as I thought it would be. Typically, any pork dish is salty. Couple that with French fries and I figured I’d be feeling my blood pressure raise with each bite. This wasn’t the case. The dish was, in my opinion, salted to perfection. Now, let’s talk about the«Star» of the dish… that TASTY pork! First off, there is no shortage of pork here, and we’re not talking tiny little pieces either. I’m talking, CHUNKS of pork. The pork wasn’t tough at all and I was fortunate to get a few«crispy» pieces(which sent me into«hog heaven»). I just recently started up a gym regimen again(cuz I’ve gained a few pounds since being married) so I promised myself I’d only eat half the plate. Mission FAILED! I drove back to the office, sat down, and instead of taking the left overs to the fridge, I consumed them right then and there for fear that one of my office mates might find my tasty treasure and deprive me of further enjoyment. Is it going to be worth the extra hour on the treadmill today at the gym? ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY! Now, just to be thorough, I had ordered a shredded beef taco for lunch as well. I won’t go into as much detail with the taco as I did with the fries, but suffice it to say that the taco was just as good. Typically, shredded beef is very tough and sticks in your teeth; none of that happening here. The meat was seasoned well and the taco, although short, was fat and PACKED with meat. It was also piled high with cheese(which is never a bad thing, right?). The red sauce they provide with the taco is spicy, and I didn’t like the bites of the taco I took with the sauce added. To me, it overpowered the taco, and all I could taste was the sauce. I’d give it a five star rating, but I’ll have to go back and try a few more things off the menu to be certain. With those tempting green chile pork fries calling my name each time, it’ll be hard to do.
