The Yard Farmers & Ranchers Market

This market is still open!
Full disclosure: I wasn’t there in March when the big incident occurred. After being a loyal weekly shopper in the previous months, I was suddenly rendered unable to go to the market (or pretty much anywhere else) by a major health crisis. After months recovering, when I was finally healthy enough to return, I got online to look up details on the market and found a slew of news articles about a big conflict, which concluded with the announcement that the market would be closing. For some time, it seems like it might have been. But the last time I checked, there are still vendors setting up here every Sunday!
I ventured out here a couple weeks ago to see for myself. When I rounded the corner from the parking lot, I will admit that I was shocked. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the place last winter and early spring, it was a shock to see only a handful of vendors gathered on the lot. I chatted with a few of them: Some of them were veterans who had decided to stick it out after all the controversy. Others were new to the market and had only caught snippets of what had happened.
Either way, they were all really sweet people offering some excellent products, and they were obviously happy to have some customers still coming around.
I will continue to patronize the local vendors at this market. Stay strong, you guys! I’ll see you bright and early Sunday morning.

The yard is a great atmosphere with train cars and unique food. I was impressed with the quality of produce and even flavored tea on tap!
However, BEWARE of Nishas Quick n Ezee Indian food!!! The vendor was incredibly difficult to communicate with. He kept giving me the run around when I asked multiple times the price. He kept repeating «discount“and finally told me $ 17 for the food. I paid by card and asked for a receipt and he would not give me one. I found his food good so I did not worry until I got home, checked my account to find he charged me $ 45!!! I regret not paying cash. The food was delicious but the vendor is a cheat, scheming people out of money.
I will definitely visit the yard again. The other business’s are legit and great people! So I must score the yard ⁴⁄₅.
However, I must plead with all visitors… do NOT give this man your business! But please visit the other hard working vendors!
