The food was fine, no complaints there. We got there around 10:30 on a Sunday morning so of course we expected a wait. It took us 10 minutes just to put our name on a list. The guy at the counter was just seating groups not welcoming anyone or telling them he would be right with them. Either they were short staffed or they are very unorganized. One lady was taking payments and her line to pay was probably 10 deep at one time and the line was going into the middle of the restaurant. There were tons of empty tables so not sure what was going on. Our waiter seemed a bit lost when I asked for an iced coffee and then forgot to bring my friend a side of bacon that he asked for. The banana/strawberry waffles were great as were the eggs and bacon that came with them. I’m hoping the service and lack of organization was just a one time thing.

The food was amazing! The service was a little slow. The managers has to step in and greet us. I appreciate the managers being attentive. The food does take awhile to come out, we waited about thirty minutes after ordering. Like I said, the food was really good and worth the wait.

Love, love, LOVE the Egg! Always go to the location in Montgomery, AL. MY parents live in San Antonio and I stopped in for breakfast. I’ve been to this location a handful of times over the past few years. The food has always been good and the service as well. Today was a little busy, and it took a tad longer to get the food but overall… I would highly recommend. I even spoke with the manager for several minutes and it seems he is really on his game. Really enjoyed our chat. He told me that once I move back to SAT to come back and they’d take care of me… and I believe it!

Visiting from No. California for a tennis tournament and happened to stop here. Everybody is very nice and there was only a short wait on a Sunday morning. Ordered the huevos rancheros with spicy chorizo, and it was honestly one of the best breakfasts of my life. Definitely a great place to go!

2 stars because I like the coffee and my previous visit was ok, but today was 1 star at best. Ordered biscuits with gravy and eggs, eggs over medium, with loaded potatoes. When food came out, I immediately knew the eggs were under done as they«jiggled» on the plate. Checked with fork and the whites were raw and runny. I asked the waitress to recook over medium and even specified the whites should be firm and done. Second plate of eggs came out no better than the first! Asked the waitress to bring me scrambled eggs at that point. The name of this place is EGG and I and they can’t cook an egg??? Now the rest of food is cold as well. Manager came out and apologized and did offer to «warm» my food up. Warm? As in microwave? No… you should’ve had the meal remade hot after that. Did not offer or comp anything on the bill that came to $ 13.00. As for the biscuits and gravy… just ok. I don’t think the gravy is made from scratch. It is thin and has a slight sour taste to it. The biscuit was thin and hard as well. Very disappointed that a place specializing in breakfast couldn’t get breakfast right, even with a couple of attempts. Next time… getting breakfast tacos!

Good food. Prompt service. Huge portion. Will return. Ordered Monterey bacon avocado egg Benedict, it comes with side of ranch potatoes, 9.99. Egg Benedict cooked well, yolk was runny and warm. Ranch potatoes was delicious. The bacon was crispy and avocado was fresh. Regular pancake came with two eggs, sausage patties or bacon, lots of food for less than 9 bucks. I ask for egg over medium, it was done perfectly. Pancake was simple and delicious. This is an example of paying attention to making their food with fresh ingredients and good friendly neighborhood service.

Decided to have brunch at the last minute after church and met my mom at Egg & I. We usually go to the Thousand Oaks location, but knowing the wait time on Sunday’s can be ridiculous, we decided to meet at this location, which is closer to our church. Highlights: Seated immediately once we arrived. Waitress and wait staff were very kind and attentive. My son ordered the Chocolate Chipper Pancake, my mom ordered the Belgian Waffle, and I had my favorite, the Santa Fe Huevos. Everything was served at a decent temperature, and same, consistently great taste we’ve come to expect at Egg & I. Lowlights: The bathroom had a weird smell that I can’t describe. Add a scented deodorizer! Tip: If you come on a Sunday, aim for after 12:30pm. There is no wait time!

I’ve been here several times and while the food is decent two things typically bother me. The food has a processed taste. It certainly doesn’t taste fresh. Secondly, the staff seems either under staffed or horrible at communicating. I would recommend another place for breakfast.

The staff is very friendly and the food is very delicious. The décor on my first arrival reminded me of my grandmas house, but nonetheless I love this place.

I really do hate giving bad reviews but for this incident I just had too. My mom and I are regulars here at Egg & I, we come almost twice a week and always bring friends. Today we had a brunch and I order the same thing every time. I get the smarter choice Chicken Vera Cruz omlete. Every time I’ve eaten it, it comes out with beautiful presentation, and amazing flavor. I’ve taken multiple pictures of it so I know what it should look like every time. My mom ordered the seasonal pecan waffles and she enjoyed hers. She did mention they we’re rather cold. Mine on the other hand was absolutely terrible. I work in a kitchen at a downtown restaurant and I know how lazy cooks can be. Because what came out on my plate was not presentable of what Egg & I stands for what so ever. My plate looked terrible. It was fried on the edges of my omlete so they didn’t take the time to trim that off which they normally do. And on the inside of my omlete there was maybe two spoon fills of filling inside. It looked unfinished honestly. I should know I’ve eaten this same meal over 50 times this past year. When the server brought it out I noticed there were no avocados on top, I told her I wanted everything on it with no cheese. The server than said the cook was cutting the avocados because he forgot… So basically what your telling me is you’ve given me an unfinished plate. The side of fruit looked a bit old and rotten as well. I told her it didn’t look like what I normally order and she agreed with me but didn’t do anything about it. Due to the fact that I haven’t eaten anything all morning and I worked in 30 minutes I ate what was in front of me. As a returning customer I’m extremely disappointed and i don’t think I’ll be coming in for awhile or ordering that ever again. Just left a bad taste in my mouth and it made me sick the moment I started driving to work. I’ve thrown up this food that was making me nauseous and I’m laying in my car feeling horrible. Unfortunately one of my favorite to go spots will get 1 star from me.

This place has really changed. We used to go every Sunday with our extended family, but this past year that has stopped. The food quality has changed, the service is not what it used to be(not friendly) and not to mention the wait time for poor quality food is ridicules. Almost 30 minutes for Breakfast for 2 orders? I wished this was a one time deal, but unfortunately it has been the same way every time we have tried to give this place another chance. It is pretty bad when iHop is more appealing :/Such a shame. We have given enough chances… We will not be returning.

If I could this less than 1 star would. Service was terrible. The scrambled eggs were from a pan that you scoop them from at a motel continental breakfast. The burger was inedible. I think they got complacent because there are such few breakfast options in town. I will say the frittata was great.

My number one piece of advice to you is to not go on Sunday morning. The place is basically a madhouse and you have to wait for a long time either outside or inside and get banged by all of the people trying to come in and get their name on the list. Other than that, the eggs are decent service is fine, nothing to write home about but if there was another place that had some better brunch options this place would definitely not be as crowded on Sundays.

We enjoy this location about two Sundays a month. Food and service good — OMG folks — what is the reasoning behind the music??? I didn’t know there was an XM channel devoted to depressing easy listening hits of the 70s and 80s! Before a Senate committee this would be considered cruel and unusual punishment if suspected terrorists were subjected to it. «Tunes to reflect on all the regrets of your life — you’re listening to XM121 — Sounds of Egg & I» Seriously — we have consistently good service and food. If you get there early on Sunday, it’s practically empty. But change the channel please E&I!!!

Nice ambiance, pleasant staff. We arrived just prior to 2 pm and may have kept stafff late, would not have known until I looked at the hours later. Eggs over easy were a little hard– no runs. Great Menu selections. Outdoor seating was noticed, a group also dining enjoyed their time. The i– Yi-Yi(jalapeño) sauce is yummy memorable and may want a pitcher of water, I did! 3 ppl bill was $ 40 +

I have gone here many, many times with both friends and family — the service is usually good, the franchise recipes keep a consistent food standard, and the wait staff is always friendly. On weekend mornings the tables are typically a little slow to be seated and I guess they try not to take tables all at once and overwhelm the kitchen which can be frustrating when there is a long wait line and plenty of tables available. Today was an abnormality and the kitchen had a wait of OVER an hour for a half-full restaurant on a Saturday morning… this was after waiting to be seated! I literally watched at least four tables walk out because they didn’t want to wait. Maybe they are changing management, perhaps they were short staffed, or maybe they just need a huge staff retraining… either way, I’m going to give this place some time to work their issues out and come back in the future. This is disappointing because they are so conveniently located inside the Stone Oak area. Hopefully they get back into the groove of things soon!!!

My wife and I stopped here for brunch. It wasn’t very busy and we were seated right away. krystal was our server, she came over right away and was helpful in helping us decide what to order. I ordered an Arnold Palmer that had more lemonade than tea and my wife finished her water so we waited on our server to come back to check on us… and we waited. 10 minutes passed and we finally grabbed another server to help us since we had been abandoned by ours. she was nice and helpful to us, a few minutes later our orginal server appeared with our drink replacements and gave them to us without any apologies for abandoning us. Bottom line the food was average and the service depends greatly on who is serving you.

Went here this morning with a group of 10. David was our waiter and he did a fantastic job. The orders were all correct and everyone received and enjoyed their meals tremendously. I have been to other Egg and I locations and they have all been great.

this spot was surprisingly packed but don’t really know why since the food was pretty mediocre. we came here for brunch and waited 15 – 20 minutes. it wasn’t all too bad. i knew i wanted to try the green chili chicken hash since i saw that it had some jalapeños! you know me with spicy! we got seated right away and our server was pretty on point. he was consistent with checking up on us and was nice. on the other hand, the girl that brought out our food had some kind of attitude. i told her we didn’t have ketchup and she said its on the table… obviously we didn’t have some and she just walked away. she did come back with some ketchup but you can tell she was«bothered» green chili chicken hash($ 8.99) had some nice flavors to it but i got more of the«hash» than the chicken. i liked how there was a nice amount of jalapeños and my medium well eggs were cooked perfectly. the overall flavors were pretty bland and everything almost tasted the same. it was just okay. my aunt got the crab cake benedict($ 9.99) and our server said it was good since they used«real» crab meat. my aunt thought it was pretty bland and the dish didn’t really stand out. i tried a bite and thought the same. one plain ‘n simple pancake($ 5.29) was HUGE! it was fluffy and it was tasty too! almost like the pancakes at magnolia pancake haus. another plus was the little basket full of jellies. they had a choice of apple, strawberry, grape, and orange. this is an okay breakfast place for friends/fam but i wouldn’t really recommend it.
