So due to the hot wet weather and having pets we have had an ongoing battle with flees this year! We had tried everything from spraying tempo to bug bombs and still couldn’t shake the flees. It was time do have a «professional» come in. My in laws who live close by told us to use the pest control people they had been using for the last three years. They had scheduled a home treatment for the inside and outside of their home with a follow up spray with in ten days and it was guaranteed to take care of the flee problem but if the flees came back they would come and spray again for free up to a year all for $ 185. It sounded like a great deal so my husband called and told them our situation and gave them the square footage and yard size of our place and we were quoted by a Texas Pest Control employee that it would be $ 185. After talking it over and setting the money back(keep in mind $ 185 may not be that big a deal to some but to a single income home with two boys under the age of five its a big deal!) we called to set up a time to have our home sprayed. While our house was being sprayed they advised us to be away for at least two hours because of the chemical. So I packed my kids up and went to my in laws for a couple of hours. Coincidentally my in laws were scheduled for their follow up spray the time slot after ours. So when they showed up to spray their house I wrote my check to pay for their services. Not knowing if tax was included in my $ 185 quote I asked the man how much my bill was. He said $ 281.14. Almost $ 100 dollars MORE than we were quoted on the phone!!! So politely I asked why it was so much more than we were quoted? He tells me just to do the house it was $ 185 but to do the outside it was $ 75 more and then with tax it came out to $ 281. He was very respectful and polite and pretty much the best experience of the whole deal! My mother in law advised me to call the main office and question that because to do their house and yard all together was only $ 185 and that there must be some mistake. Their house and yard is quite a bit bigger than ours too. So I told my husband all of this. He looked over the invoice and decided to call just to find out why we were quoted one thing and charged another. He explained to the woman who answered what had happened and what we were quoted and also explained what his parents had paid and just wanted to know why it ended up being almost $ 100 dollars more and said that he felt blindsided by this. She said she would talk to the owner and call him back. She called back and explain some of the reasons for the price difference and said they would be mailing our check back. My husband asked to speak with the owner himself because we weren’t trying to get anything for free we just wanted an explanation for such a big price difference. She gives him the contact info and he calls the owner. He tells my husband that the reason my in laws got a good deal was because they where long standing customers, also that they were going to cancel our follow up spray and send our check back, that we got a free spray out of it but to take our business elsewhere because he didn’t appreciate being accused of blindsiding his customers. My husband tried to explain that he wasn’t accusing him, but just saying how he felt and again questioned why was he quoted one thing and had to pay a totally different price. They man had nothing nice to say instead got even more enraged. He was Completely unprofessional in every way. A simple apology and a simple explanation would have Been great and good enough for us but instead they have ran this new customer off, lost a long standing customer(who was giving them business every three months), and I can promise you if anyone asks us about who to use for pest control I know who we will tell them NOT to use!!! Way to go Texas Pest Control on being the most unprofessional, extremely misleading, and down right rude company we have ever had to deal with!!!
