Specializing in Jalisco-style Mexican food, Taqueria Guadalajara hits the spot when a quick, sufficient bite is all that’s needed. Just one of A LOT of Mexican food spots dotting Culebra Rd, nothing particularly stands out at this restaurant to warrant visit upon visit. But the menu is large, prices decent, and service nice. Some highlights…(1) breakfast tacos are $ 1.19, burritos $ 2.99;(2) breakfast plates are available all day;(3) they offer 10 kinds of tortas & burritos, 9 kinds of gorditas & quesadillas, 24 lunch plates, beef/chicken/shrimp fajitas & parrilladas, 10 seafood plates, $ 1.59 empanadas, and plenty of drinks including $ 1.69 coffee w/free refills, domestic & imported beers, milkshakes, aguas frescas, margaritas & piña coladas. So yeah, decent selection. Also, my Spanish isn’t solid despite 4 years of it during high school. Though I could barely understand what each of the employees were saying to me, none of them switched over to English. Just an observation; this didn’t detract from anyone’s kindness whatsoever.

Taqueria Guadalajara at 5818 Culebra failed their latest health inspection with 39 demerits. Thirty-one or more is a poor score, according to Metro Health. Among the demerits at Taqueria Guadalajara: –Kitchen staff food handling violations –Employee hand washing violations –The inspector watched a cook clean blood off a cutting board, then use the same towel to wipe down the table and continue preparing food(a cross-contamination hazard) KSAT stopped by the restaurant on Monday to see if corrections had been made. The manager told Behind the Kitchen Door, «I don’t have to show you. I don’t want(KSAT) over here, OK?» The manager said that Taqueria Guadalajara is still waiting for a follow-up inspection. I just thought you people should know.

If you just spent the night in the motel across the way which boasts a jacuzzi room or you just happen to be in the area(Callaghan and Culebra), I recommend you stop in and try Taqueria Guadalajara. It’s my go to spot on Sunday mornings when my other taqueria is closed. The food is alright. It’s nothing spectacular; no fine dining here. But Taqueria Guadalajara does what it sets out to do: they make decent Mexican food for a low price. What more can you ask for on a Sunday morning when you’ve just gotten up, looked in the mirror, and realized you’re still a little drunk from the previous night? On my most recent visit I had my Sunday morning staple: huevos rancheros. The ranchera sauce is on point. They cooked the eggs perfectly. The potatoes were bland – they don’t drench them on ranchera sauce like my fav place does, but that’s ok because they have hot sauce at the table. I can’t speak to all the problems people seem to have with the to go set up they have going on. Protip: just eat inside, the waitresses are super nice. Check it out if you’re in the area, you might like it! Bonus: there’s a motel that boasts a jacuzzi room next door, so bring that someone special. Puro West Side.

They make the food with No lard, heavy oils of fat. Mostly just using water, veggies and seasoning to cook. The meat may use a little bit of soybean oil. I was Shocked when the owner told me this. It was sooo amazing! The corn chips sprinkled with fresco, sour cream and a amazing sauce looks not spectacular, but is one of the best things I’ve Ever eaten! They changed their prices minimally only twice in 10years. This place is inexpensive and amazing!

This restaurant is a joke!!! I honestly don’t know where to start. I drove up to the drive thru. Speaker sounds like crap. 9:12pm I ordered. At the window waiting… its now 9:45pm I only ordered to dam bean tacos.(Which btw was dry as ####!) I ask the girl what took ao long? She doesn’t know. She replies. No customer service at all! So then I ask to speak to the manager. She’s got this look like«uh.uh what’s a manager!..(Keep in mind she don’t speak English.) she tells me she don’t know where he’s at. Worst service ever. This restaurant should be in a taco truck. Not ready for commercial. Terrible!!!

Really a fan of this restaurant not only convienent for me but also good service and great food. Food/Cleanliness rates about 4 stars but I’m rating 3 because on several occasions the intercom for the drive thru is NOT working with no sign and long lines. but ppl wait because the quaility along with prices are great.

I work in this area and have picked up tortas at the Taqueria Guadalajara 4 a few times when I needed something quick. Yesterday, after spending a couple of hours at a «lunch» meeting downtown that ended up being a meeting sans lunch, I drove through the TG on my way back to the office and ordered a couple of tacos: chicken fajita and al pastor. The line moved quickly, and my lunch order came to about $ 3.44 – a bargain. The chicken fajita taco was good – the tortilla was fresh and the morsels of dark meat were very tasty. But it was the taco al pastor that was the true winner – bits of pork and beef wrapped in a flour tortilla with cilantro and diced white onions sprinkled on the *outside* of the taco, but still in the foil wrapper – what a novel concept! I was able to add my own onion and cilantro according to my preference(heavy on the cilantro, light on the onion). Al pastor can be greasy, and this one was perfect – almost greaseless. I know taco trucks are all the rage, but I think taco drive throughs are even better – convenient, on-the-go meals made in commercial sized restaurant kitchens. I’ll be back for more al pastor!
