My coworker and I went to Taipei Restaurant located at 18802 Stone Oak Pkwy, San Antonio, TX78258 and we are regulars there. Today his Ice Tea had tiny roaches in it and when we told the waitress she went to tell the manager who just took his meal off the check but never even came over to apologize or anything just acted like it was normal so gross will never eat there again and I made sure I told everyone in my office so they won’t eat there either. So gross beware!

Had hot & sour soup and pork lo mein delivered to my hotel room. The lo mein was good, but this place has THE best hot & sour soup on the planet. I will definitely be ordering again next time I’m in San Antonio.

*vegan/vegetarian food review* I am currently obsessed with this location. I just recently transitioned to a vegan diet and this place is a godsend; they are so good about making substitutions to accommodate me without overcharging. There were a surprising amount of options available, my favorite so far is the kung pao tofu with extra veggies and veggie fried rice with no egg. Ommnommnom

This is one of our favorite places to grab a quick – and good – lunch. They seem to make a point of getting lunch out quickly, and that’s a definite plus if you’re on a tight schedule. Their lunch specials are pretty good deals, too. Lots of choices. If I had any suggestions, it would be to request whole grain brown rice as a third rice alternative, and allow coffee substitution for the ice tea lunch special deal. And put calmer music on the PA. Small things aside, we do go here often, and definitely recommend giving it a try.

The service was not very good. They need more training and better customer service. Food was mediocre. There are better options out there.

We were a fairly large and not too easy group for lunch. Nevertheless, the waiter did a good job of keeping everything straight. The food was very good. Prices were reasonable. We will be back.

First experience at Taipei and the food was excellent! I was a little disappointed in the overall service, but it was towards the end of business hours. If the service was better, it would of gotten a 5 star review from me.

I will never return to this restaurant, we walked in were not greeted, we stood in the front for a few minutes then decided to have a seat in the front assuming that we would be seated or greeted, instead the employees continued their conversation as if we were not there. Not once did some acknowledge our presence! They would just look in our direction but not once helped us! HORRIBLEHORRIBLESERVICEORTHERELACKOFSERVICE !

My 17 year old Daughter and I love Chinese and Thai food. I can tell you that we thought this place was the best Chinese food we have ever eaten. The beef and broccoli was out of this world. We also had the egg rolls which were fantastic!!! They were so good, that we ordered 10 to go, so she could have them as an after school snack and with our left overs. This place is a bit on the pricey side. But ABSOLUTELY worth it. Service was beyond slow(and it was empty), but the food made up for the service! Best Chinese food in Stone Oak!!!

The wife and I had dinner here Friday night. Overall the food quality to price value was good. The egg drop soup has great flavor. It is more of a chicken broth with egg than what you would normally think of. The great flavor makes up for that. The sweet and sour sauce is lacking a little flavor but not bad. The sesame chucken was really good. The calimari was cooked quite well and came with a small salad on the same appetizer plate. Portion sizes fit the prices.

Have been eating here since moving to San Antonio in 2012. Everything I have had has always been very good, especially the triple delight. Wait staff has always been prompt and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone wanting Chinese in stone oak.

Bad food. Bad bad bad service. You can taste the old grease. You can tell the pieces of meet are selected for their toughness, gristle, and cheapness. The tea tastes dusty. The service is unfriendly. You can HEAR the people in the kitchen staff and waiters making fun of customers in the dining room. Extremely Stay far away from this dump.

Average. I don’t eat Chinese food very often so while I was traveling for work, I figured why not? This place offers great lunch specials… you get a ton of food for cheap. Lunch entrees include the main dish(meat/seafood/veggie entrée) with rice(plain or fried), an egg roll and a drink for about $ 7 – 7.50. Add soup for another $ 1 – 2 and you’re sure to be stuffed. They also have a sushi bar, which I opted for(so I guess I’ll continue my trend of not eating Chinese food). I had the Sushi Special B(which was different than what’s listed on their website). It came with a Cali roll, 6 pieces of sashimi and 3 pieces of nigiri for like $ 10! That’s crazy cheap. The Cali was as expected. The nigiri was pretty good, but the white fish was too fishy for my liking. Overall, it was okay, not great. I also ordered steamed dumplings as a starter. Sadly, it actually came out after my sushi but oh well. It wasn’t very flavorful. Dipping it into my wasabi filled soy sauce helped though. Our server said the Lemon Chicken is the most popular dish… not something I would typically look to order… and good thing because they were all out!

Classy, upscale, and intimate interior– but the quality has gone significantly down. When they first opened, I was pretty impressed with their menu but regularly ordered their lemon chicken. Now the portion size is much smaller and it’s so over-fried and over-breaded that it’s all crunch and very little(dried out) chicken. Service has always been pretty solid but being forced to try other menu options just makes me more critical of them. I realize lemon chicken isn’t exactly an exotic option but let’s get real: despite the swanky décor this is basically a local version of a Pei Wei. It’s very Americanized, mass-appeal Chinese.

Came back to dine in this time and it was a great experience. I brought my sister to try it out and she loved the crab wontons and her orange chicken. I tried their beef and broccoli and it was pretty good too. The service was great and they always made sure our glasses were refilled without having to flag down a server. The outside of the restaurant looks small and dull but the inside is rather elegant and quaint. Try it out!

I’ve been eating at Taipei for years. There is a very real possibility that the NW Military location is the first Chinese Restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Recently I’ve found it almost embarrassing to eat here with my family. They all order Lemon Chicken, no Lemon Sauce, Sweet and Sour Sauce on the side. I’m always the only person who orders something different, and I get looked at like oh there’s Matthew eating his weird food. While i’m thinking in my head if you want Sweet and Sour Chicken, just order it! It’s taken me a long time to write this review, because I have very mixed feelings about it. On one hand I think the food is boring. #BASIC status. But on the other hand, I can’t blame them, as far as I can tell this company has been making the same dishes as long as I’ve been alive. So the cooks must be dying to cook something new. My latest visit to Taipei will be my last unless I’m guilted into it by my family. They have decent lunch specials Iced tea included, but seriously I wouldn’t recommend it. I hope that Taipei finds something to inspire the cooks, because they need it!

I never would have found this place on my own. Thank you, Unilocal! From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but the inside is fantastic. Much bigger than I was expecting. Still got stuck by the kitchen but probably just because I was dining by myself. One thing that I’ve been noticing more and more of is that Asian restaurants no longer employ Asians. Very strange to me seeing a Hispanic chef cooking Chinese food. But I have to say, it was good! I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce. Reasonably priced lunch special, less than $ 8 which includes an iced tea if you so choose. No sweet tea, so I did not partake. Now, I’m not sure what everyone else is talking about with the rude wait staff. My waitress was very nice and attentive. I never had to ask to fill my water, and she was very cordial. The food came out very quickly. It was hot and very good! I asked for no carrots which they accommodated easily. The chicken was very tender, and the sauce was amazing! I will definitely be coming back here during my lunch break.

I really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant, the whole place felt like being back in Taipei. The decorations on the walls, the table settings, and the uniforms of the wait staff, all were so carefully chosen to be as accurate as possible. The food is typical Taiwanese, I got a soap to start and it really hit the spot, plus the General Toa chicken extra spicy. All really good. I recommend this place.

A quick lunch with a friend by the office and we found this place in a plaza. It was quiet inside, only one or two other tables that were there for lunch at the time. A good size lunch menu to choose from. For the sushi lover in all of us you have some nice daily Bento Box specials. The special of the day on Tuesday is four pieces of spurs roll, squid salad, two pan fried gyoza dumplings, and five pieces of Nigiri sushi(tuna, salmon, crabstick, smoked salmon and shrimp), this is what my companion ordered. I decided on a classic Chinese option of General Tso Chicken served with fried rice and egg roll. We also shared their fried dumplings, an order of edamame, and the classic Asian salad with ginger dressing. The edamame was overdone and soft, not crisp like it’s supposed to be, a little disappointed with that but that was the only disappointment. The salad was fresh and ginger really came through the dressing(see picture). The dumplings were nicely cooked and crispy on the outside with a nice filling. I thoroughly enjoyed by General Tso’s Chicken, the balance of sweet and spicy was good and the portion was sizable. My companion loved her Bento Box with a variety of items. The Spurs roll is a nice San Antonio roll with tempura fried shrimp inside the roll, I love regional based items. Service was average, we had to wait extra long for check which I always find to be a nuisance. Overall it was a wonderful lunch spot with great potential for dinner.
