WORSTEXPERIENCEEVER. Went there last week to return some items. It was 11:00AM on a Tuesday, so the store had very few customers. There were four of us in line at the customer service desk. The poor girl behind the cash register had to page a manager repeatedly for 20 minutes before one finally showed up. The other three customers and I had been complaining amongst ourselves about the delay. When the manager(whose name I think was JT) finally showed up, he was surly and he didn’t apologize for the delay. I loudly said, «Well, we’ve been waiting for you for over 20 minutes!» He didn’t say anything for a minute, then mumbled that the speaker in the back was hard to hear and he walked away. No apology. As he walked away, one of the other ladies in line said(loud enough for JT to hear), «Well, I guess he’s never taken a customer service course!» I’m generally a laid-back, take-everything-in-stride kind of gal, but I left there FUMING. I shop frequently at Stein Mart at other locations, but I will never return to the Fredericksburg Rd store and maybe not any Stein Mart again. If I wanted that kind of abuse, I would still be married to my ex-husband. lol

I’ve given this location two tries and both times the associates have been rude. The first time I was blatantly followed the whole time by an associate and she snottily asked if I needed help finding something. When I asked if they had clearance racks, she said, «Uh yeah, those things with the red signs above them.» Like I was a friggin’ idiot. Then she continued to tail me until I left. Today, I had no escort, and the reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 was I found some decent tights, which is what brought me back.(A two-pack for $ 7.99, not too bad). Otherwise, the sales racks are a joke. The cheapest thing is $ 30. I then had to find someone at the«customer service» desk that could ring me up and it always irks me when I thank them and I get silence in return. I’m doing you a favor by shopping here, not the other way around. You always thank the customer, that’s just how retail works.

This chain is kind of different. It’s inbetween JCPenny and Kolhs. The prices seem to be a little better, but they don’t have quite the selection of clothes to choose from. On the men’s side that is. I think on the women’s side, there is a lot to choose from. Again, prices are very good. This location is on the end of a very dead mall. But the business is nice and clean and new looking. Lots of sales people to help you out when needed. The racks are nice and neat and everything is picked up.
