Below average mall as far as store options are concerned. They don’t even have a place to get coffee during your stroll, although the ice cream place is usually there taunting me when I’m on a diet. They closed Luby’s, and that’s a problem because the Chili’s here is horribly slow service so there’s now nowhere left to eat but the food court. They HAVE renovated the food court recently, not much if a change but at least they’re working on it. Added a Dick’s Sporting Goods and building an Ulta. The new addition area stinks because they don’t clean the bathroom properly. Mall needs a little more work and updating. Rating system: 5 stars = I’ll drive across town specifically for this, and rave to all my friends about it! 4 stars = Would recommend visiting. 3 stars = Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars = You might be able to drag me in. 1 star = I will not be returning.

My best tip: check the website for a store directory before you go. This is not a normal mall and it’s location on the southeast side of San Antonio is reflected in its offerings. This mall is seriously lacking what I consider ‘normal mall stores’ such as Express, Banana Republic, and even Gap. I went to get dress pants and after sifting through tons of size 36, 38, and whopping size 40 pants in Macy’s I had to settle on some boring khakis from American Eagle which I will be returning ASAP. Only go here if you know what you’re getting yourself into or you are desperate. This isn’t the worst mall I’ve been to but it’s pretty close.

I will never go back to this mall. After being in this mall for less than an hour, my son lost his brand new toddler cowboy boot. My husband and I spend over an hour retracing our steps. It baffles me that someone would take a toddlers boot. One boot especially. It’s sad that only on certain parts of town you can drop something and someone will hand it back to you. This location speaks millions of the type of people South Park mall attracts. Halfway covered up gorditas, and thugs. Never again.

South Park is rather small, as it is only a single-story mall. The atmosphere on weekends is usually quite busy, and you will see many families shopping around. Free WiFi is available. Food choices include Subway, Chik-Fil-A, Luby’s, and Chili’s. The food court also has a play area for small children. In the past, South Park Mall was quite empty, but recent additions– including Spencer’s, James Avery, and Dick’s Sporting Goods– have made it a rather popular hangout.

This mall is great because of its proximity to my house! There’s a great selection of department stores and shoe stores, as well as a Hot Topic AND a Metamorphosis! The food court is great — they even have a Subway and TVs mounted near the ceiling so that if you’re eating alone, you still have something to keep you company. There’s even a group of older gentlemen that like to play chess in the food court as well. Sometimes the parking is terrible, but inside the mall it’s never packed — that’s a big plus for me! Another plus is that in the surrounding area there are fast food joints, gas stations, banks and even an HEB. The only downer is that the area’s only bookstore — Waldenbooks(which was located near the Luby’s) recently closed, so that’s about the only thing missing from this mall.

People are always complaining about the South Park Mall, but I love, love, love it! Woo Hoo! It is always quiet but it doesn’t have the feel of the Rolling Oaks Mall, where everything seems to be going out of business. They have Chili’s, Anna’s Linens and my favorite shoe place ever. The food court choices are respectable, unlike The North Star Mall. They have Cajun, Tex-Mex, Chick-Fil-A, etc. The other thing I like about the South Park Mall, aside from that it reminds me of the show, is that people are just really friendly here. There isn’t any snobbishness. One star is taken off for being so far away from my house. Thank God I go to school right next door, though.
