I always order out, and I always get the Pad Thai. And it’s always good. Great consistency :)

We visited this restaurant upon a recommendation from a Dr office. The construction and lack of parking could be a deterrent but hopefully one of these will be alleviated soon. We were greeted upon entry and our drink orders were fairly prompt. Unfortunately we waited awhile to have our order taken. Our order was eventually taken by what appeared to be the manager or owner. I ordered the chicken curry with steamed rice. I like the fact that there was a good portion of vegetables in the dish and that the food was not drowning in the curry sauce. On the downside the rice was cold while the curry was warm but not hot. My husband had pork with garlic which he said was lukewarm while the spices on the dish were clumped together. The prices were competitive, but considering the service and the temperature of the food, I don’t know that we would go back.

This place was so smelly and disgusting that I had to get up and walk out after ordering my food I couldn’t take it. If you want good Thai food go to Manolas on Blanco Rd.

I know what you’re thinking. How could someone of my vast Thai culinary experience have not visited Sarika’s yet? Or you may just be wondering who the heck am I and what am I doing on Unilocal.Regardless, this review is about what I think is a darn good Thai place. The inside of this place was very nice and cozy. It is the type of place you could take someone to for dinner and expect to have a quiet conversation without too much noise from surrounding people. At lunch, it is really busy, but that is expected with the location it is at. Enough about the place itself. Here is the breakdown on the food. Sweet and Sour soup was hot, flavorful and not too sour. I normally pass on this soup, but Sarika’s was enjoyable and I finished it all, which says a lot for a soup snob like me. Since I had not been here before, I asked the waitress for her suggestion and she said the Pad Thai. I went with that and ordered chicken for my protein. She asked how hot I wanted it and I said I want it very spicy. She said I probably just want hot, but not Thai hot because Thai hot will make me cry. Since I couldn’t tell if she was joking or not, I stuck with her suggestion. The Pad Thai was hot, amply portioned and had a delicious flavor that in my opinion could go up against most of your more popular Thai joints. The chicken was a little sparse, but that was to be expected since it was lunch time and to be honest, there was more than enough food to satisfy your hunger. As for the heat scale, my mouth was burning slightly and I got a little sniffle in the nose, which to me indicates a winner of a dish. I might even opt for the Thai hot next time just to see if she was serious. Give Sarika’s a try!

This has always been a favorite of ours but the service and food on this visit is enough to make us never come back. We walked in the door to a strong bleach smell and only one other occupied table on a Saturday night. I ordered a curry dish that promised green beans and chicken and delivered a lukewarm bowl of green peppers and about 5 bite sized pieces of chicken. I tried to get the servers attention, but she was too busy with the carpet sweeper. She came so close to our table she bumped by foot while sweeping but never looked up. Our spring rolls were over fried and extremely dry. Not sure if the other locations are any better.

A staple of mine for many years, Sarikas remains my number 2 Thai place in S.A. The summer rolls are the best I have ever had. Fresh, flavorful and filling! The peanut sauce should be sold on site! If you have to be in the Medical Center, stop here!

We have always loved Sarikas… until today when we were served a plate that had a live roach running around on it with the waitress trying to smash it with her thumb!

I little hit or miss while not the best thai food I’ve had here in SA it’s not the worst. Tried the beef panang both times ordered very spicy both times got mild to medium spice. Curry was watery, big pet peeve for me since moving here. If you want authentic melt your face Thai food this is not the place for you but it’s good for a quick fix. Other items tried were fried tofu and spicy fried chicken. Both were ok.

Unfortunately for Sarika’s we dined for lunch when they were short handed. The phone rang off the hook the whole time. We asked for spring rolls with no meat and recieved chicken egg rolls. Entre was order without chicked and had chicken in it. I realize being shorthanded makes things frantic but we really expected more from this place.

I love their pad see ew! It’s the best near the medical center. I always order their pad see ew with tofu in Thai spicy level. If you are a person who like spicy food like me, you will have to get their«Thai spicy» level because that hits the spicy graving right on the spot. Furthermore, I think their pad see ew always look to perfection with amazing flavor. It’s my favorite pad see ew place and you should check it out too! When I order take out order, they always get it ready within 15 minutes. You gotta try their pad see ew!

I WAS enjoying my chicken pad thai to-go until I pulled out a 1⁄3 inch piece of some sort of wire or thick foil from my mouth. Can you imagine the law suit that would have caused had I actually swallowed it and gotten damage in my GI tract? I found the menu quite limited. I like beef with my pad thai, and my only options are shrimp or chicken. The chicken was white meat, of which I’m not a huge fan because I think it’s too dry and bland. The noodles and sauce were good, though. Based on the food, I would give it 3 stars, but my near potential trip to a gastroenterologist takes it down a star. Regardless of it being an isolated incident, you should NEVER find something like that in your food!

Came in last week with two friends and a Groupon for dinner. We started with the large tom kah soup and despite the generous portion, there isn’t much chicken or mushrooms just a ton of broth. Tastier though than some other places we’ve ordered it in SA. For entrees, one guy went the chinese route and ordered the lemon chicken and said it was great. My bf went for the beef pad se ew, which is his usual standby, and licked the plate clean. And unfortunately I can’t remember my order, as I’ve never seen or heard of it elsewhere– but it’s on the third or fourth page of the menu, and I ordered based on the picture in the center of the page. Shown with shrimp, it is a dish stir fried in a light brown sauce with onions and mushrooms and served with steamed white rice. I actually ordered with chicken instead of the shrimp and all I can say is, damn was it good. I’m really irritated that I can’t remember the name, so this just means I have to go back. Pretty sure if you’re at a loss for what to order, you can just ask for the amazing mushroom and onion dish with chicken and they’ll know what you’re talking about. Also finished up with the coconut ice cream with sticky rice for dessert– so good! I’ve only had it once or twice before, but somehow the combination of textures and flavors really hits the spot! :) Now that we live in the area, we’ll definitely be back!

My fiancé and I wandered in here for a quick dinner on a Saturday evening. Here is what we thought: AMBIANCE: 3 Stars. This is clearly more of a casual lunch spot, than a dinner establishment. The restaurant has Asian décor and a small dining room. I’m not offended by the ambiance because the prices reflect exactly what you get. FOOD: 4 Stars. We weren’t feeling particularly adventurous and since we were new to Sarika’s we both opted for… Tofu Pad Thai! She ordered it spicy and I ordered it That Hot. They were both excellent! I would recommend getting the Thai Hot only if you are ready for your mouth to BURN! It was spicy, but it still had flavor. For dessert we tried the Coconut Ice cream with sticky rice. The ice cream was fantastic! It had flecks of coconut which was great. The sticky rice was disappointing because it didn’t taste fresh. Other than that it was tasty. PRICE: 4 Stars. I’ve never understood why Thai places raise their prices at night. Overall, Sarika’s prices were reasonable. I wish I worked close by so I could come here for lunch.

This is in the Medical District, so we caught an early lunch. Greeted with some hot-and-sour soup that was actually spicy. My pad thai tasted hot and made-to-order rather than sitting in the back in a big pile of noodles, which is always a plus. The lunch menu was pretty limited, and the service was a bit slow. I had originally planned to stick around for dessert, because coconut ice cream sounded great, but I got sick of sitting there waiting. I’ll give some kudos for serving a popular menu item fresh from the skillet and without too much gloopy, sweet sauce. But overall the meal and service were just mediocre. I think Thai Chili Cuisine in Stone Oak is my favorite in town.

I’ve eaten here before, and it was ok. Not great, but ok. Today was an extremely disappointing experience. The food has really gone down hill. I’m not sure if it’s new management, but Sarika’s on Medical is worth staying away from. Start with the menu – the printing isn’t even lined up correctly. Seems like a small thing, but keep reading and you’ll see it started a trend. Also, the lunch specials didn’t give detail about what was actually in the entrees. The sweet and sour soup was straight out of a bag. Not good enough guys. We ordered springs rolls as an appetizer. Spring rolls are fried – really easy to get right. These, although just fried, were overdone and rather tasteless. Our entrees were rather tasteless. My wife’s entrée had green beans that were freezer burnt. My Pad Thai was bland, and the tofu obviously frozen. The chicken seemed to be the lowest grade Sysco can provide – circus grade. The chili power I had to ask for didn’t even save this dish. The waitress who asked if everything was ok comically walked away when I began to tell her it was not up to par. All this for $ 25! Yikes. I liked this place before – never again. PLEASE let the Sarika’s in Boerne stay exceptional.

Though meals paid for by someone else are usually tasty, this one wasn’t. This was my fourth meal at Sarika’s, and while I remember it as mediocre, tonight’s meal was particularly regrettable. The Tom Kha Gai soup was too coconutty — someone forgot to cut the coconut milk with chicken or vegetable broth — and unlike Tom Kha Gai that I’ve had at other restaurants, this one had no spice whatsoever. I had to put in a teaspoon of the table chili sauce in order for it to have any flavor. The tofu in the Tofu with Basil wasn’t properly pre-seasoned — it was just fried pieces of a spongelike silicon substance. The Panang Gai — or Chicken Red Curry — suffered from the same affliction as the Tom Kha Gai soup — way too coconutty and devoid of flavor. We also ordered Plar Lad Pick — a whole fish deep fried and served with spicy sauce. This was my first time having this dish ever in a Thai restaurant. The fish was very well cooked — and no scales or bones! However the ‘spicy sauce’ was nothing more than the bottle of Sweet Chili Sauce that you see on the top shelf of the Asian section of the supermarket. As a finish, we decided on two desserts — a fried banana(not on the menu) and coconut ice cream. The latter was light but creamy, and finally made good use of Sarika’s love affair with coconut milk.

Went to the new location located on Huebner Road. The food was great and the service was awesome. They even have Sushi at this location and I must say it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Fresh Roll. Had their Pad Thai as my main course and honestly it is one of the best in San Antonio. You guys definitely need to check it out.

Sarika’s is great when it comes to Thai food! I always get the Panang Tofu(Tofu curry) with the Vegetarian Spring Roll and it’s amazing! The only drawback would be service. It gets busy during lunch and they are spread thin in terms of staff.

Haven’t been here in awhile… but still a good place for Thai. Usually stick to my faves– this time, Gai Pad King(chicken with ginger)…still yummy and glad that the taste of it hasn’t changed. And, of course, cant leave without the best part– for this dessert, they get 5 stars– sticky rice with coconut ice cream with fresh sliced mango. I have not been able to find this dessert made like they make it at any other Thai restaurant(and it’s not for lack of looking)!

My review is going to have to follow suit with the rest: nothing impressive or out of the ordinary, just plain ol’ Thai food conveniently located in the Medical Center. Walking up to the restaurant I thought: this could either be really good, or really bad. Man, I was wrong. It was really, really mediocre. The service was decent, I don’t know how representative it is of their restaurant though since my buddy and I were the only two patrons having lunch at 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. But hey, our drinks didn’t go empty. Well my iced tea didn’t go empty. My buddy’s soda went empty before we were informed that they don’t offer free refills here at Sarika’s. That took the place down from a 3-star experience to a 2-star experience. The food was pretty normal. I(again) ordered the Chicken Pad Thai in order to fairly judge this Thai restaurant in line with the rest. My findings: plain, unspiced, and not the way I ordered. I sometimes throw in a simple request to test the server: no peanuts please. Yep. I got peanuts. Thanks for not paying attention dude. Glad I’m not allergic. The Pad Thai lacked any kind of zest, and I absolutely found chunks of unmixed egg in my dish. Kind of a downer, but hey, it was edible. My friend had the Basil Chicken(it had a Thai name but I wouldn’t be able to spell it correctly). It was actually spiced, flavorful thanks to the basil, and came with a side of fried rice. Definitely a better decision than my dish. Lunch entrees came with soup for starters. We were served Hot and Sour, which was actually pretty darn good! I would absolutely recommend their soup. Their egg rolls were decent, but again nothing to write home about. Would I come back to Sarika’s? Yeah, but only if I was pressed for time and happened to be in the mood for Thai while in the vicinity. Seems like a lot of variables. So I probably won’t be back too soon.
