Great place for the family. I’m tiered of all the construction always going on. I understand animals smell but there is an awful smell from the bird area.

The zoo is fantastic the best i have been in. The whole atmosphere feels like we are apart of it in a safari. There were areas we felt so close to the animals as if we could touch them. Of course you couldn’t tho for our safety and the animals safety. Food is expensive but what zoos food is not. Loved it all!!! I would come back again.

HUGE zoo! Lots of work going on and changes taking place(the maps are not entirely accurate, outside of the construction). It makes for a little confusion, but overall the experience was pretty good. Lory Landing was the coolest part, where you got to walk into a bird enclosure and feed the birds(you have to purchase an ounce of nectar @ $ 1.50 from the refreshment stand). Can’t wait to see the new Rhino exhibit and other new stuff next time.

The annual Zoo Boo at the San Antonio Zoo is fantastic. It’s such a fun experience. From what I can remember last year, the Zoo Boo was on two nights — on the night before Halloween and the night of Halloween. We decided to go on the night before Halloween assuming it would be less busy but it was really quite a long wait. We got there about an hour before the gates opened and the lines were EXTREMELYLONG. The whole way from the gate back to the parking for the zoo, plus there was another line going the exact opposite way on the other side. If you do buy your tickets in advance, there is a seperate line for you located toward the back near the pavilions in Brackenridge Park. It’s an excellent experience though. I brought my 18 month old son there to do his trick-or-treating and he loved it even though he was so small. We also had a stroller but it wasn’t hard to navigate around with it, so I’d recommend if you have a small child and you don’t want to carry them a majority of the time, take your stroller or your baby carrier. A lot of different events for the kiddos to see and do, costume contests, check-in spots to get candy, etc. It’s so much fun. The only thing I would advise is to expect a wait no matter what time you get there, be patient and have fun. It’s excellent.

The annual Zoo Boo in San Antonio is a great place to take the kids to during Halloween. They have all types of games, costume contests and activities. You can buy tickets ahead of time at any HEB or buy at the gate. The last time the family and I went, we bought ours at the gate and had a little bit of wait but it went by fairly quickly. Everyone had a blast that night though. Even a few parents came dressed in full hallow gear. =)
