A very nice long trail in the medical center. I used to go running in it almost daily. There are lots of deer which are fun to see. It’s not very shaded which is why I only give it 4⁄5 stars.

I live right next to this trail so it’s a convenient outdoor jog when the weather permits. No awful San Antonio drivers will be able to threaten you so long as you stay on the trail but it does cross the road at one point so use the crosswalk safely because people here are too busy playing with their phone to watch the road. The trail is loose gravel so be forewarned that minimalist shoes may result in you bruising your heels on sharp rocks. Your funeral. Watch out for snakes per the posted signs. Bring a camera because there are families of deer that will let you walk up within a few meters of them if they’re feeling bold that day. There are some light exercise stations on this trail worth taking a pause to use if you want a light Sunday workout.

I life nearby so when I saw this trail on the map I had to visit it. Actually it has a lot of Caches as well, so why not getting some exercise while going geocaching. The park closes at sunset, but if you are there shortly before that, you can see the deer coming out.

This is a nice little trail in the midst of the city. You also have two different paths to choose from. One if I’m not mistaken, runs along Ewing Halsell and that one is more of an incline and feels muggier when I’ve gone. The other one is pretty flat. Both are decent lengths and will give you a good workout if you decide to do both. Not the greatest for being one with nature, as you can expect, but it sure beats staring at a wall while you pound the treadmill.

This is a fantastic jogging trail. Trying to get my butt into shape with my new dog so we checked out this jogging trail the other day(I live down Cinnamon Creek Dr, so ridiculously close to mi casa). There is A LOT of construction going on around the park which really doesn’t affect the trail itself but if you have a dog with you it can be a bit startling with all of the loud noise. Overall, I was really pleased. We didn’t get very far as my dog is new to running so didn’t want to overdo him! It was a great time though. Lots of interesting exercise machines along the way, a lot of garbage cans and doggy poop bags. Great!

This trail is within 2 minutes from my house which makes for an unbeatable location. The trail as stated previously, is 2.2 miles of crushed stone track(which I prefer over concrete trails) which meanders through the wooded areas of the medical center. The machines that are placed alongside the trail in various spots(if utilized to their proper and full potential) will provide you with a total body workout in addition to your walk/jog. The instructions are written along with diagram on how to use these machines, so don’t be afraid to try them out. The trail is mostly open to the sun but there are parts that have shade trees overhead which are nice on those hot summer days. The trail does go deep into the woods so if you are one to be easily paranoid by running alone then this may not be the trail for you. There is graffiti along the trail in some spots such as the machine signs, utility poles etc. just as a heads up, and I am not taking this into account on the rating of this trail. I have never personally seen any port-a-potties along this trail the several times that I have been(not to say they’re not there or were at one time). I would give this review 5stars if there were a restroom along this trail somewhere(preferably permanent as this would be a great addition since so many people use this trail every day) as well as a couple of water fountains as so you don’t have to carry H2o with you while you run. *Note 1:(I start off running to the right from the Hamilton Wolfe parking lot) Make sure you take the route across the street once you get to the bottom of the downhill«S curve». This is the route for the 2.2 mile course that will lead you back to the Hamilton Wolfe parking lot. If you go to the right at the bottom of the S curves, you will end up on a dead end path past CVS /Walgreens(Wurzbach) that ends at the sidewalk next to Starbucks Coffee on Medical. I made that mistake once! *Note 2: The signs along this trail say that any other use of this Private Property other than Walking/Jogging will be considered TRESPASSING as per the San Antonio Medical Foundation.

It had been awhile since I’d been to the SAMF trail — mostly because there was a lot of construction along Hamilton Wolfe and Floyd Curl for a couple of months. Last night I decided to go back and see what I’ve missed since construction had cleared(for the most part). The last time I was here, I saw concrete slabs placed sporadically along the trail. I now know that these slabs were set up for workout stations! Each station has about 3 different ‘machines’(if you will) and each ‘machine’ allows for a basic, intermediate and advanced move. Some of them were even set up as wheelchair friendly! Each station had a set of instructions so you weren’t left to figure out what to do(of course). The SAMF also made porta potties available(2 to be exact) and they’re both located along the path that’s parallel to Floyd Curl. :(\_(\ *:(=’ :’) :* *.(,(«)(»)°.*‘”
