Ric Marmolejo Salon

Do NOT go here! I got «highlights» and a haircut here and they turned out awful. My hair was SO CHOPPY and the «highlights» looked awful. I ended up going somewhere else two days later to have it fixed. My new hairdresser was shocked I paid so much for such a crappy job. I have no idea how they have such good reviews because my experience here was awful.

Update: I approached Ric and gave him a chance to make things right by providing a partial refund. He offered to have Debbie fix it (there’s no way I could make that mistake twice) but he also said that the chunky stripey highlights that were an inch from my scalp were regrowth and would not admit that she had done sloppy work and the foils had slipped. My hair was a completely different shade of blonde before and after and there is no question which highlights were put in by Debbie.
Not only did she do terrible work they handled it dishonestly when given a chance to rectify. I wish Unilocal would let me upload a picture — you wouldn’t think twice.
I can’t say this forcefully enough — do not go to this salon.

I’ve been coming to Ric Marmalejo for four years now. While I live in New York, NY, I travel home to San Antonio regularly so that Debbie can do my color. I experimented with colorists in NY from Fredric Fekkai and Vu and no one came close to Debbie. She is a master in executing color, particularly in providing a natural blonde. Great cuts and special event styling as well! What a value! A++

Ric is THE BEST!!! I have been going to him forever. Always up on latest trends, but always does what works best for my hair and face.

After an eight month search since moving to San Antonio, I finally found someone who knows blonde highlights! Debbie gave me beautiful highlights and a great cut. The salon is pricier than most, but it’s definitely worth it! It’s never super busy there either so it’s very relaxing.

Rick took me from long long w/​extensions to short above the ears. You can imagine my anxiety but he was a complete pro. He was patient and moved at my pace and actually kept me longer then all of the pictures I brought because he just seemed to know what I wanted. He was wonderful. I cannot recommend him enough. If you want experience, professionalism and a beautiful salon environment then Rick Marmolejo Salon really delivers.

I was worried when we moved from Austin that I wouldn’t find a new stylist. I was so relieved to find Debbie & this salon!!!
Debbie keeps me the perfect shade of blonde. The whole salon is lovely as is the staff.
Another reviewer mentioned that they are pricey but I think they are very reasonable.

I second the praise for David. The only person to see in San Antonio if you want to be blonde, and he will entertain you with stories while he works.

I absolutely LOVE coming to see David Stanford at Ric Marmolejo Salon. He is the FIRST hairdresser in 6 years to get my color right. I am originally from Houston and being a blonde was never an issue there. Upon moving to San Antonio, I realized my version of blonde does not line up with most hairdressers here in town. I want platinum, not honey! David can lift color without damaging your hair, and achieved the perfect blonde color I was wishing for!
In addition to great hairdressers on staff, they also have one of the most beautiful salons I have ever been in. I feel like I am slipping into a hollywood nook where at any minute a star will walk through the door. The place is decorated in teal and chocolate brown. Massive chandeliers grace ever corner of this space. They even have a little boutique in the front of the salon full of all kinds of goodies.
Finally lets talk about products. I love the selection of organic products here. Plus, the stylists don’t push product sales because they don’t make a commission. So for once, I feel like I am getting the real scoop on what my hair could and could not use. I always hated feeling pressured into purchasing every hair product under the sun at «chain» salons.
I can not say enough great things about everyone at Roc Marmolejo Salon. If you want the best service, color, and cut in San Antonio… then this the the place to go.

Get over letting people making you feel ~less~ yes maybe they are a bit snobby. SO WHAT~ I LOVE MY HAIR for the first time in a year since moving to this town. RICHARD is a certified hair genie. He used to do my color– which by the way is a magician at, and then I found out that he cut hair (hello!!!) and he cut my hair today and honestly I am THE pickiest person EVA… and he did a superb ~ fantastic ~ wonderful~ orgasmic ! (REALLY) job of cutting my hair,. I will NEVER go anywhere else. I am finally soooo happy with my hair, I don’t have to travel back to Houston to have my hair done,. THANK YOU GOD… I can finally live in the hair I used to, and no one can give that to you until you meet someone truly talented. THANK YOU RICHARD. you were a gift sent my way… p. s please post your prices. I have never had the same price for anything since I have been coming :-) muuuuahhhh
