Regent Care Center Oakwell Farms

I give it three stars overall. The care my father was given went well and he really enjoyed his team down in the rehab hall.
If you want to send your parents somewhere I would try the Regent Care Center on Blanco. The facility is older… but the staff is incredible and the Admissions Director goes out of her way to help you.
She returns your phone calls and is really professional. I give that place 4 stars just because their customer service was so good.

Unresponsive, don’t care, and they really do lie. Hard to believe. I fell for their lies in the beginning until I got smarter and sent my mom a cell phone. This home is not kind or caring to seniors at all. They don’t bring meds on time and sometimes not at all. They slam doors on their rooms. They don’t bring clean night gowns. The scare them into believing if they tell their family they are not happy it will be worse for them. They don’t bring them simple things like water all day… really. I personally have been on the phone and asked my mother to push the call button. (for water, for the bathroom) We waited together on the phone for 1 hour before they ever came. This didn’t happen just once but over and over and over. They have a switchboard where they listen in on their conversations (you can hear the clicking) One even told my mother I heard what you told your daughter. ;(scary. I finally sent her a cell phone so she could call when she was feeling bad. In order to get my mother simple things like water I would have to call several times a day and maybe someone would bring her water. One day it really took them 5 hours to bring water… really I kept calling to see if she had it. My cell phone became the emergency call button. If they don’t have a cell phone they are up a creek. Many times you call and the switchboard just rings and rings and no one even answers. They seem to drop a lot of calls too. ?? Sorry line busy, when the line is not busy. So if they need help and no one comes you will never know. My mothers blood pressure was so high one night she was stoke line and her speech had deteriorated, she was disoriented and not making since. They didn’t even care. I had to make 4 calls to get her help, while I had her on the phone line. Whatever you do DON“T SEND ANYONE YOU LOVE OR CARE ABOUT HERE.

This facility has a physician on site? The doctor is there twice a week and never, never examined my mother. He stood and asked her how she felt. That was the extent of the exam. She was having trouble breathing and he diagnosed allergies (this is after open-​heart surgery). As she progressively got worst and the most he would do is prescribe nose spray! I had to literally wheel her out and take her to the hospital in my car. They said it was against their doctor’s recommendation. When we got to the hospital they removed 3 quarts of fluid from my mother’s lungs. If I would of not taken her out of that center she would not of lived. BEWARE!

A nice physical rehab facility. My FIL, who is here after hip surgery says the food needs Improvement. Their procedure for handling clothing leaves much to be desired. The laundress, when I was looking for some missing clothes said all clothes, labeled or not, are dumped into the same wash load, therefore reducing the chances of identifying the articles you are searching for.

Had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with Mom, Randy and Donna. But now I have to take Mom back to her second home, wish she be coming home already.
