We were welcomed at the door and had a wonderful time. The tour was educational and fun. Mark(the owner and tour guide) welcomed questions and was knowledgeable, entertaining, and genuine. There were a variety of samples, something for everyone, and Texas sized. I liked how he talked you through what you were tasting and different ways to approach beer, whiskey, scotch, and bourbon. Cheers!

Colonel Mac was the man. We had such a good time and thoroughly enjoyed the beer and whiskey! For $ 10 you can enjoy 3 beers and amazing whiskey. Highly recommended this tour!

We toured this brewery and distillery today. If you are looking for a informative tour this is where to go. The owner’s son gave the tour(he may own part too… it’s a family affair). He was very well spoken. But… it took the full two hours to tour and you stand the entire time. Over an hour was in the brewing facility which is not air-conditioned. If you have a hard time standing or aversion to heat… this is something to consider. Also the group size is very, very large compared to the other distilleries in the area. On other smaller tours we had a maximum of 12 people, in this tour we had upwards of 50+ people. There were over 100 that took the tour in our time slot but we split into two groups. Then all of us came together at the end which meant long lines for drinks and impersonal attention. Decent product if you like Rye whiskeys. We are not beer drinkers, we are whiskey drinkers and we’re not super impressed. But come and try it for yourself. :)

After having one of Ranger Creeks beers at the Cured for dinner we couldn’t stop talking about the beer. My fiancée booked a tour and it was a blast! It was very informative and you could see the passion of the owners. I’m not a big whiskey person but that portion of the tour was great. The angels cut smells great. Highly recommended you go and support a local family business, you won’t be disappointed just slightly buzzed!

On a repeat visit, I told the bartender I really was trying to avoid cheese but wanted to get the hummus carving board. She offered the hummus, pretzels, crisp bread and almonds for $ 7 off menu. More awesomeness!

This brewery tour was phenomenal! Small-crowd atmosphere and plenty of beer(and whiskey). Very personable and knowledgable staff. I will definitely visit them again! We also try and purchase their beers when available at restaurants. So good!

Absolutely love this place. Col. Mac puts on such an informative tour of how beer and whiskey are made. I’ve actually had a tour with him twice and enjoyed the 2nd just as much as the 1st. Came for a girls weekend with my mom and SIL and we planned our whole trip around this place. There’s laughs, there’s beer, there’s whiskey, and there’s learning. Such a great experience, what more can you ask for. If you’re looking for somewhere cool to go by yourself, significant other, or a group of friends, this is the place to go. I’ll be going back for my third tour soon.

Located on the North Side of San Antonio off of Thousand Oaks in an industrial area. Not much parking available in front of the business but you are able to park in other areas nearby. We parked across the street in a vacant building. We arrived at 1:30pm and made our way inside. This place is small so I recommend arriving early and finding your seat while you wait to be checked in. We were broken into 2 groups of thirty and our tour guide was Mark(owner) while the 2nd group was being toured by the Colonel. For $ 10 you get 2 full glasses of craft beers and 4 samples of whiskey or 3 full glass of beer. Drinking is encouraged during the tour. Mark took us step by step on how they brew their beer and whiskey. BTW, you get to keep the mason glass. The Red Headed Stanger was my favorite beer of the day. We will definitely be returning again but this time we will eat before. Word to the wise, make sure you have food in your stomach before taking the tour. Also, say hi to Matt our beer pourer for the tour. Nice guy but make sure he covers his Pittsburg Steelers t-shirt before the tour starts. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend this hidden gem. I’ll definitely be drinking Ranger Creek brews if I find them on the menu!

Yes it located in the most obscure of locations and(currently) opened on Saturdays only, but boy is is worth the drive. There is not much seating in the main room a couple of two seater tables and a few picnic tables. They sometimes open the back room and add more tables but they didn’t on this occasion. They did however add some tables to the front parking lot. After a while there were about four or five tables. Well enough to about that– now to the good stuff. They are a brewery and distillery. If you are a San Antonian, you are familiar with the Ranger Creek brews. I did not know about their liquors. There are beer flights 3 pours for $ 4 but it’s not on the menu. They have three specialty cocktails. My hubby is a beer fan so he was happy. I’m a cocktail girl so I was very happy. Most brewerys don’t offer liquors because of the Texas law but I think there is a loop hole if you are a distillery. For snacks– they have carving boards– although I didn’t try one, they looked really good. The staff told us that they will be opening on Fridays soon and if all goes well they will open up Tuesday’s too. It is a working brewery so that’s one of the reasons for their wacky hours. They have some pretty cool glasses and t shirts for sale. So all that to say, take the drive and you won’t be disappointed.

This place is great. Matt was a wonderful host and the tour was very informative. We got two full beers plus a whiskey tasting which made for one of the most boozy tours we’ve been on for $ 10. If you’re into supporting local Brewers and distillers, then this is the tour for you. Definitely one of the best afternoon activities in San Antonio.

Stopped by on a Sat evening to see what the buzz was. Well it’s definitely a laid back scene were people are talking with the staff as they tell you about their great products. I’ve been to a lot of tours, pubs, etc and this was definitely a great place to understand the unique qualities of this brewery/distillery. I’m impressed with the casual atmosphere of people just enjoying with beverages and nothing else. If you’re looking for a casual place to hang with friends and support a great local place, I’d put Ranger Creek at the top of the list.

We bit the bullet and took the tour… maybe I’m picky because I also work in a manufacturing capacity, but I was dissapointed in the quality of the tour. Especially when you take into account that our tour was given by a founder/owner. He couldn’t answer any questions on how many bottles were produced of each product, where they get their hops or barley, how often things are cleaned, or even basic marketing info. He beat around the bush on every question. He did however love to point out for the crowd OSHA violation stories about swimming in mash tank or other things that wouldn’t fly with the FDA or FTA. Glad we got two beers with our tour and a taster whiskey or I’d be PISSED.

The best brewing/distilling tour we’ve ever been on! These guys have an awesome product and put on a good show for the tour, which includes 3 free beers and a souvenir mason jar. Be ready for the tour to take at least an hour with questions and don’t be surprised when the tour bleeds over into their tasting hours from 5pm onward. This is a must do.

This place was so out of left field, my love drove me here and I thought the outside looked rough. But as soon as we entered the building, we were met with a very homy and relaxed atmosphere. The guide was kind and insightful. He was easy to follow and kept my attention(and I’m ADHA). The beer is wonderful and guaranteed to get your cheeks all Rosie like. The whiskey is phenomenal, hands down the best I’ve had at 96 proof and smooth as water. Two thumbs way up for this place.

I love Ranger Creek! This place is so great and Col. Mac is super nice and knowledgeable! We have been on the tour twice and a few events as well. We love getting the email stating that there’s a new event coming up because we love coming over. The events are always super fun and a great environment to hang out and have beers and whiskey. The tours offer an inside as to how everything is made and their history, which is always fun to hear, and you get to drink beer while the tour is happening! My husband loves everything they sell so we buy their whiskey all the time and some of the beers too! The only thing that sucks on events is the lack of bathrooms but they are getting better by getting porta-pottys.

Love Ranger Creek! Their beers are always delicious. They offer great monthly open houses, where $ 10 will get you a glass and three pours. And apparently they also make whiskey! We’ve always had a great time when visiting RC for their open houses. We bring lawn chairs and our own food(we’ve brought Chipotle and pizza from Urban Bricks!). They usually have special pours throughout the afternoon, but we opt for whatever is included in the $ 10 price. My only words of advice are this: RC is becoming quite popular so expect loooooong lines during their open houses. Especially early on when they open. When we went in the middle of the summer, it was a bit unpleasant waiting in long lines to get a glass of beer in the crazy SATX heat… so I wouldn’t recommend that. After checking out their website, it looks like the options are opening up for customers to go more frequently to their Tasting Room on Saturdays. This might be a better option for those wanting to get a more personal experience of the brewery. But if you’re looking for a cheaper option, wait until an open house.

By now you already have surmised by previous reviews that the Ranger Creek Brewery is one of San Antonio’s premier brewpubs. For a small fee, typically monthly, they offer a tour of their place which includes a sample of some of their beers and whiskeys. In addition on occasion they will partner up with another organization and stage a big event. In the few years it has been open it has grown exponentially. Initially you could only drink their various beers at their brewpub. Nowadays you can pick up their stuff at any local taproom, store, restaurant or event. Rather than go on a five volume tome about my experience there I will(at least attempt to) briefly go over the pros and cons, of my experience there. I went to an event they had,” Roots in the Shadow Pt.2″; a collaboration with artists and craft beer enthusiast’s to release a grassroots recording. The good and the, well I won’t say bad but of things to be mindful when you go. The pros: 1.) Sleek and immaculate taproom. 2.) Spacious. Very welcoming to all; perfect for big groups. 3.) Staff were knowledgeable and answered any questions patrons had about any of the beers they were serving. They offer samples before you commit to purchasing any of their beverages. 4.) An ultra laid back vibe with all cross sections of the city drinking, conversing and having fun. 5.) Food trucks. The not so good: 1.) Parking is sparse if nonexistent. Since it is located in an industrial parkway there are«Tow Away» signs everywhere. Choose a parking spot wisely. 2.) The tap selection was mediocre at this event. I would’ve like to have seen at least one specialty beer pulled from their repertoire. 3.) There is ample space outside but since it is so, it can create a claustrophobic environment. After awhile it got tight outside. 4.) I would’ve like to have seen a bigger presence of the RC’s staff making the rounds. 5.) More restroom facilities for patrons. Ranger Creek is a big part of the ever growing San Antonio Craft Beer Community. Its brewpub has become the business model for other entrepreneurs here to follow. While I did enjoy my visit here I was not completely wowed. Still I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who likes to bond over a beer, couples and friends alike. And what better way to taste San Antonio than in a souvenir Mason Jar glass where they pour your beer into.
