This was my first time here, and the food was delicious but the service was very unprofessional the hostess who’s also the owner was very busy and had us move several times because we were blocking the door to be seated, but it’s so cramped and that’s the only place to stand. It’s a small restaurant the food was delicious but if you plan on waiting about an hour to get seated and served this is the place! We weren’t provided any menus and weren’t acknowledged for the first 15 mins we sat down, even after the waiter took our drink order he forgot to give us menus they also forgot to bring us some food items we ordered and we asked them to remove them from our check. There’s a very small parking spot and it’s a true hole in the wall. Besides the service the food was delicious and very authentic! But I can’t say I’ll be back again.

The service was great! Food was delicious! You can tell it’s a place for local’s because it was packed.

This visit was great we both ate the waffles with sausage and eggs. And the best part was they remembered us from two days before. This is an old school diner that takes you back to the old days when people were friendly.

First time here and it was the best breakfast in San Antonio. I really enjoyed it and I’m definitely coming back here next time I visit San Antonio.

Didn’t see any panchos nor gringos but did see great chilaquiles and a grilled cheese, tomato, bacon, with fried egg between sourdough bread sandwich. Great hole-in-the-wall dive.

It’s sllllllllloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwww. More comments to add later. An hour into my journey and I still only have water. Update — the food was very good, but the wait is incredible. We arrived with a group at 11am — it is now 1 pm. The last kido(group of 18) was just served. The staff was nice, but slow. I would give it 3.5 stars if it were possible.

OMG!!! This place is awesome! It reminded me of my mom’s chilaquiles! We ordered 4 different dishes that were all really good! I had the chilaquiles that were traditional Mexican with the fresh cheese and cream! My hubs had the French toast and a taco had an omelette in it. My son had the kids meal breakfast that was all eaten! My other son the Wisconsin cheese steak that was huge and delicious! He did not eat all of it because he couldn’t it was too big. I thought since the menu was so large and robust that we would order something that was average. Not the case we loved all of it. The service was excellent. Greeted at the door and we were lucky to have a party small enough for the table but others did have to wait. The owner or manager asked us several times if we wet in need of something. The waitress was responsive and attentive. Definitely coming back when in San Antonio!

O.M.G. I am going to need an intervention after this trip. Don’t miss the Grits Tamal — this gem is hidden on the«sides» menu. This is a delicious invention of creamy grits, shredded beef, green salsa, and goat cheese. Also had the best pancakes I have had since a trip to Vegas. Not pictured: chorizo & egg tacos. The chorizo was perfect. Not a fan of the huevos rancheros, however. Thank you, Pancho & Gringos — had to let my belt out a notch.

Amanda is amazing. This is probably the best service I’ve had by anyone anywhere. Also, though, the chorizo breakfast taco(you only need one) and a side of home fries from here is bar none the best meal I had in San Antonio. Even the coffee is really really good. You’d expect stake diner coffee but you won’t get it. It’s delicious. The make their own chorizo and, I suspect the tortillas too but I only know for sure about the chorizo and that the tortillas are just really really good. The space itself is cozy and nice. This place is 100% win. And cheap. Did I mention that? Breakfast for two cost us under $ 20 including an ample tip.

My friends have been telling me to try this place, and so I finally came for brunch today. I have been trying to look for a positive thing to say about this place, and the only one I can think of is that their Cuban sandwich is good, but it would probably have been better if it was hot. I ordered«The Mess» omelette, and it came out cold along with my potatoes. The waitress(if that’s even what you want to call her) forgot my toast and said she was putting it in, and then IT came out cold, the butter wasn’t even melted on it. She forgot my juice, didn’t refill coffees, and everything was done at a snail’s pace. Definitely in the wrong industry for sure! Maybe, I’m hoping, I just came on an off day. I can always change my review at a later date if it gets better because I know my friends will make me come back against my will.

We came here at the suggestion of Unilocal and we were definitely NOT disappointed! I had the Chilliqueles and they were amazing! I highly recommend them. The Mexican hot chocolate was really good as well. We will definitely come back the next time we are in San Antonio. The atmosphere is very welcoming and staff are as friendly as can be.

For me and my wife the gold standard for a good restaurant is a clean restroom if the restroom is dirty chances are the resrestraunt is neglecting other areas as well(like the kitchen) P&G’s excelled in this area. The food is also amazing I suggest all the«obo» sandwiches.

Great option for Sunday brunch. A local spot DIGNOWITYHILL bYob — so bring your own! Had the chilaquiles plate and the Zambrono which both were great. we opted to try the French toast which was also delicious. Next door’s home deco store is also a local gem. Cheers.

The neighborhood where this little gem is located is a bit dicey so be sure to drive(don’t walk). But the food makes it worthwhile. We had the Juevos Rancheros, corned beef hash and grits with cheese. The side of hash was so big it was really a huge meal and the corned beef was tender and delicious. And they didn’t skimp on the cheese in the grits. The Juevos Rancheros had a great homemade(spicy) salsa. We added their homemade green salsa which was even better. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, almost mashed on the inside. The service was great. Attentive and cheerful. Crystal was terrific. I would definitely come again, ya’all.

This is the place to go for an authentic Mexican breakfast. The staff knows most of the customers, and many are greeted with hugs, and their usual orders brought out without being ordered. I had the chilaquiles & eggs with beans and tortillas. The chilaquiles were spicy and tasty, and the salsa verde(home-made, on the side) was fabulous. Even though I was clearly not from the neighborhood, I was made to feel right at home. This is good food, served with heart. It is also a great cheap-eats spot. This is a neighborhood joint — nothing fancy, and that’s part of the point. This is the real deal.

Unilocal has its share of critics. I’m not one of them. If not for Unilocal,I wouldn’t have found this restaurant and I’m so glad I made the short drive from downtown. The menu has great selections and, after some tough decisions, I settled on the campesino omelette, black coffee, and Mexican hot chocolate.(It was the Mexican hot chocolate that made me drive here in the first place because I don’t see it on many menus.) I was surprised at the size of the omelette: it was hefty. Everything was delicious. In addition to the good food, I appreciated the sincere graciousness of the staff. They made me feel like a regular, especially the owner, Sergio, with whom I chatted for a long while as we’ve shared travel destinations. I don’t make it to San Antonio frequently but Sergio’s restaurant is permanently bookmarked and this will be a must-stop for me whenever I’m in town.

I go to school nearby and was skeptical about dining around the area because of the side of town its on. I checked Unilocal and it led me to this little gem. As soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted and asked for my fine in or to go order. They also had freshly made muffins(enough for 2) & iced French vanilla coffee NOT on the menu. I ordered 1 taco and it was like 3 tacos in one that I only paid $ 2 for! I also had the BOBO which is a bacon, egg, cheese, and homefries sandwich on a roll. Delicious! I definitely think we need more restaurants like this. Local, mom and pop home cooking. I look forward to trying out the rest of the lunch menu.

1. Service — an excellent and friendly staff. The restaurant staff is small and there wasn’t a particular person that was assigned to us. Everyone except the chef checked on us. They made sure we had everything we wanted and they’ve checked frequently. Everyone had smiles on their faces. It’s just what all restaurants should be. 2. Price — less than $ 10 a plate. A bang for the buck! Sit your self down, order at the table, dine, and pay at the cash register when finish. 3. Ambiance — a small hole in the wall type place. Cute and classical. A small café mainly for the locals as it is not located inside downtown near main stream areas. The ambiance is not beautiful to say the least, but it’s serves it’s purpose. I came here as a tourist and if it wasn’t for Unilocal,I wouldn’t have found this place. I’m glad I did. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food — I had the«Frenchee» which was a scrambled egg and ham French toast sandwich. The dish is very simple, but very tasty. My girlfriend had an omelette. The portion is huge! They bake fresh cookies and muffins every day. Worth trying. Coffee is OK. 5. Cleanliness — Tables are a little sticky, but besides that, the plates and silverware were clean. Would I come back? For the food and service, most definitely, and I also recommend this place.

From the friendly greeting when you walk in to the fast service to the phenomenal food, I really have enjoyed this place. Sure– its nowhere near where I live, but good food is worth driving for as far as I am concerned. The chilaquiles are a must if you are a true chilaquiles person– if you like the tex-mex version, then don’t order this. Wow! My husband truly enjoys them here & i can tell you after YEARS of searching for a place in San Antonio that actually knows how to make them like his momma(or closest to his momma’s) — we finally have found them in Panchos & Grinogs! The fresh cheese provided a bit of a zing along with a cream sauce– just really well done. Be warned– they have a kick. They are SPICY, but that is the way they are supposed to be! And don’t you dare complain because I don’t want them to change the level of spice in their salsa! Order and take it! Their side salsas are also quite spicy– AGAIN, no complaining, take it like a true Unilocaler! The first time I went, I have had the happy waitress which is a grilled cheese breakfast sandwich w/tomato. It was delicious except I realized that I don’t really like hot tomatoes in my sammie or tomatoes in my grilled cheese. That was on me though, so I can’t fault them for that. The next time I had the eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were PERFECTLY done and I mean picture perfect, classic poached eggs– which remarkably can be difficult to find. It was on a toasted english muffin. Again the muffin was just crisp enough to sustain the poached eggs and the Hollandaise sauce. The coffee was strong and HOT, refilled often which is a nice touch. The place is very clean and organized. You order at your table and pay at the counter. I cant wait to go back and try their pancakes– they look fab! I don’t give out 5’s very often, but I really do enjoy this place and hopefully so will you or maybe you shouldin’t because then I wont be able to get a place to sit. No, no– go and enjoy!!!
